Personally it would be nice to have a dynamic background where the light matches the time of day, which is basically what Apple is giving us, except that in the beta it only gives you night scenes when you're in night mode and day scenes when in light mode, at least according to the video review above.
it's always been in the system, just go to sys pref and click on desktop and screensaver and choose desktop and and the bottom you'll see change desktop, just check that and your pictures you want to use and how often you want them to change...duh it's amazing how many mac users don't know how to use their computer
Brian Weaver. The new feature is different, it doesn't only cycle through a set of images. It displays an image based on the time of day. I'm not saying its ground breaking but it doesn't already exist (duh).
Typical of the last 3 upgrades, once upgraded several of my purchased apps no longer work. I refuse to play the apple upgrade again. Thinking of switching to pc
00:43 this the bad thing here the old file preview much better then this you can see only one item big and small items for the designer it’s so bad hope there are way to get the old one and we can choose
You're only working on a beta; hopefully, by the time Mojave comes out, there will be a third choice for the dynamic background so what we can get a shifting day to night scene in both light and dark modes. My comment refers to your comment that "if you're in night mode you only get nighttime shots. Apple reckons users will rather match light with light and dark with dark." On the contrary, I want a background that will match the time of day, showing the gradually changing angles of sunlight in the morning, building up toward day, and gradually shifting toward evening and night according to what time it is and so on throughout the night until it's day again.
I have an old Mac Pro Quadcore mid 2012. I have graphic card with Metal support but the card gives the computer issues. Will I be able to upgrade it to Mojave anyway? It will probably be the last upgrade of MacOS with this machine. When so I have to leave Mac and buy a Windows-computer.
while apple could do better in its innovation, their platform and software is very stable and people prefer stability and ease of use over crappy functioning and a plethora of cool additives that are unstable/glitchy. People will wait for Apple to incorporate other newly developed innovations as opposed to having instability and poor performance. Windows copies MAC but fails, both on delivery and stability and you have to pay for new releases. I haven't bought a Windows computer/anything since 2007
so true. once you get into the development/production/creative/etc world you realize that all those gimmicks you thought were cool as a kid quickly become trash and what becomes most important is your workflow and experience.
I see someone's in their feelings. Everyone knows Windows based comps are not reliable computers, very glitchy, updates are not smooth, ease of use is terrible, not to mention the ugly UI. With very heavy use, your MAC will die in about 4-5 years. Windows I ended up having to purchase a new computer every 2 years, with medium use (average use) and as time moved along, the computer worsened. Windows tried copying MAC with windows 10 in a variety of ways. I don't care either way. If you're happy with a Windows computer, that's fine, but I don't like them. Your use is not "the average use", for the average person, Windows still sucks. As you can see I have not been invested in Windows at all, I thought people still had to pay lol.
2008 2.4ghz 13" MacBook here. Snow Leopard for life. no spinning pinwheels here. just daily smooth sailing, virus-free, crash-free use. Maybe I just got lucky. Yea, the fan blows loud, I can't view 1080p60fps youtube without glitches.. but I can run my music software just fine, and normal 1080p or 720 is just dandy on a 13" display. AND I have usb ports that work with the gear I have.. and I even have a CD drive.. to rip and store CDs as wav files instead of the compressed crap on itunes/spotify. one of these days it'll die.. and I'll have to find a drive, and a slew of adaptors to do EVERYTHING since I don't have a single USB-C device. the computers have become more powerful, but with so many inconvenience$.
Okay, I have an iMac and an iPhone. I switched to them for varying reasons. iMac for the stability of running PS on a 5k screen and iPhone mainly for the security of the phone. That said, Apple is really good at making a big deal out of things that have been available on other platforms for years. Windows offered much of this year’s ago, Blackberry software in the Android and BB world offered better security for App permissions a long time ago (and although out of much of the phone business are still the best at security). The people that cheered because a background changes likely never owned a different platform or device in their life. That is not innovation. It adds nothing to the efficiency nor productivity of the system. If anything it will be something always running in the background. Stacks in folders is a joke. Old news. Finder update will be welcomed but again not something to brag about. The biggest thing that Apple brings is stability. Everything on a Mac has been optimized to run well. That is the main reason I switched. I don’t need to worry about updating 50 different drivers and my PC crashing if I miss a couple. Overall I enjoy the Apple product, but not the overhyped BS that goes with it. Apple users have to face the fact that they are not the best at everything. They just happen to be able to put really good things under one hood.
All the people that clap and cheer at Apple keynotes are Apple employees whom are put in the front rows on purpose. That way the camera can show them cheering during the keynote. Occasionally when they pan to the journalists in the back rows, they're typing away on their laptops and phones, and rarely cheer or clap.
Sorry to break it to you but OLED’s aren’t equipped as laptop displays due to their burn in from the organic phosphor decay. Apple just wouldn’t take that risk. If anything we could should be looking forward to Micro-LED displays to arrive within maybe 2 years or so.
I think the new security features like Intelligent tracking prevention is a good Idea, considering how alot of websites love to throw ads at you. I WILL note that I am a Windows/Android guy and have been for long while. I'm thinking about getting my first "new" macbook pro for my upcoming first semester.
Dynamic background? Thats worse than when they debuted the idea of "Touching a photo you've taken with your finger and it magically comes to life!"..... you know... like a movie.... something we've had for decades now.
no I've used iOS 10 beta on my phone it eventually got to the point where when i opened youtube id have to wait before scrolling if i did scroll it would never load
The only thing that apeals to me from mac is the UI. It looks good and is pretty smooth. I just wish it had the stability and compatibility that Windows has then maybe id be willing to try it.
Ussalaam-Ou-Alaikum And Wishes. Please be very aware with your voice sound near microphone, so it could be heard properly. Hoping better clear voice further. Regards
Am I the only one that has a panic attack when these major O.S. upgrades come out? It’s just such a major change and it happens every year and I just sit here and dread the day of it’s release especially since one day my Mac won’t take the upgrades anymore and then I won’t be able to access my Deviantart because they don’t support outdated browsers and Macs are so expensive but I love using a Mac so much and what if I can’t afford a new one? It all just makes me so anxious. Is this normal? Does anyone else have these fears? Please, somebody talk to me about this.
Sad to know that my early 2011 macbook pro is not on the compatible list. With their prices keep on soaring, I might switch to Windows instead. Thats how they get your money :(
Wait wait wait.... are you telling me people stood up cheering because they've changed the fecking background from day to night??? Look im a mac use but jesus what a bag of shit. Changing background, stacked files (you mean folder previews) argh. I think I'm done with these keynote corporate look how good we are from Apple when they're really not doing anything at all. I'm done im done.
Love watching you talk. Wished Apple gave as much concern to it's computer customers as to the iPhone/iPad market. There hasn't been a new release of a computer since 2013 and they still want $3000+ for them. The video card are so outdated that almost everyone I know is building "Hackintoshes" and getting a better running system. How does an "updated OS" on 5+ year old computer hardware make this a viable product anymore.
I bought a 2017 pro 15” and almost every component had to be replaced. I though hmm maybe it’s just a lemon b/c every Apple computer I’ve ever bought lasted longer than I needed too and worked flawless other than new batteries and stuff like that. So I sold it to someone on the open market and went and bought the 2018 15” with the I7 500mb or whatever and 16 gig. It has been glitchy slow and apps fail to launch quite a bit. I use an external and ICloud and when I plugged in the drive to this brand new one, it didn’t load the way it should’ve and is also glitchy. I’ve never owned anything personally than a Mac or IPhone. I don’t know where to go because I hate the look of Windows. I have Windows loaded on the machine as well for some work and client stuff and wouldn’t you know it runs windows flawlessly. It’s just a really good looking frustration machine.
Cant wait to spend $2000 US to sit all day and night to watch background go light to dark. Innovative Apple progresses my life to advance always. (i prefer apple too)
I prefer Apple as well, but am still using my virus-free 2008 Snow Leopard 13" MacBook. I'm going to have to buy a ton of adaptors and a disc drive whenever I upgrade someday. It would be nice if Apple could at least throw in some adaptors.. since we're already overpaying for their laptops. kind of ridiculous. a lot of ridiculous from Apple the past few years. their products have become more powerful and with nicer screens, but have taken steps backward in so many common sense things
I want a macbook of some kind because i am going to be a business student and they require that you have a laptop of any kind. I already have an iPad Pro, iphone xs max and apple watch series 4. I loved my macbook pro 2015 i had but sold it because it was getting old and thought I would be ok with an ipad pro but when i got the requirement list from the business department at the school that you need full office and it cannot be the mobile app on a tablet. I have been in search for a new laptop that will need to last me for the rest of my school career and that i can run my business off of too.
I'm looking forward MacBook pro with face id. Then I will get one. Right now, its not worth it. We need OLEd screen on MacBook pro and better processor. They should make it at least have 250 ssd basic starts price
With Mojave There's no way to set only the Dock and the Menu Bar to be dark !!!! ... Why?... Most users probably had their current version set in that way before. And they would be able to do that so easily. ...I love the gallery view but, I've restore it back out of Mojave. Wouldn't Apple want the upgrade to look as seamless as possible for the user? Making that option possible will increase adoption of the new system and features with the familiar GUI color scheme most users are familiar with already! Please Apple add that feature back on to the finder preferences !!!!
No Azure or single sign on authentication .. apple fails us again in enterprise software solution. Yes i want to waste more time looking at backgrounds and working...
Computer literacy and much stronger competitors means that Apple don’t have much in the tank to differentiate themselves other than the brand ans design strengths, Frankly any messaging, conferencing collaboration software that isn’t open is as good as useless in the real world , Business/ industry uses Teleconferencing stil.l all the time, I don think there is os service or app or contacts db that gets that, what this means is an activity that huge amount of commerce is done over relies on clunky cut and paste workflow to set up, iOS is particularly useless in this regard.
It's a personal opinion, tried Linux countless times, never felt comfortable. Windows sucks balls with registry mess, drivers, viruses, gets slow over time and u need to reinstall. OSX is effortless, been using it for years on the same macbook, still works same speed as when I bought the computer, it literally crashed maybe 2 times in 4 years. It is the only reason why I use macbook pro... I don't want to think about OS I'm using, I just want to use it, easily, without any issues, and OSX is, for me, exactly that...
It's not pronounced Mojava. It's Mojave. It's pronounced with an eee at the end not an a. She's not pronouncing the name of it correctly. I live in the the Mojave most of my life.
Android P is super nice and iOS 12 is good but still behind. MacOS is also significantly behind Windows 10. I mean Apple software does look pretty but that's about it really
Yes I would interested in an elaboration as well... Windows 10 and especially Android has so much bad design and useless garbage. Of course - subjective - so I pass the mic..
Christopher Pawloski They're both getting substantially better. With Android 9 it's pretty much catching up with iOS in pure aesthetics and may match Apple by the end of this year and with Windows 10 that's mostly subjective now and highly based on third party designers. In a year or two from now Windows should look just as good if not better.
I've owned and used both ecosystems, Windows/Mac as well as iOS/Android. In fact, I've flipped between the two multiple times but I ended up settling with the Apple one.
Jobs must be rolling around in his grave, apple changing the name back to mac OS which it was before Jobs changed it to OXS, when he came back to apple and bought the next OS with him, and all the new macs after 2016 don't have the start up chime, but mostly windows always copying apple now it's like apple is copying windows, in the five years or so since jobs died apple has been going downhill and I've been using macs since the early 90's since OS 7, I even use this cool app that puts the happy mac back at start up, here's a tip, highlight any word in the finder or in a browser and hold down the apple, control and d key and hold 'em down and watch what happens
Lol.. Apple announced auto changing background as top feature and audience started clapping immediately after announcing it..
F1 Pro have been able to do this on Linux for quite some time now
Personally it would be nice to have a dynamic background where the light matches the time of day, which is basically what Apple is giving us, except that in the beta it only gives you night scenes when you're in night mode and day scenes when in light mode, at least according to the video review above.
CarkodMusic duh
I'm actually pretty excited for that
Windows Vista already had it. kkkkkkkkkkkk
OMG I LOVE HOW THE BACKGROUNDS ARE NOW CHANGING AUTOMATICALLY! SO EDGY AND INVENTIVE! WINDOWS HAS SO MUCH TO LEARN
Dark mode about damn time! I was getting tired of those white apps burning my retina at night.
retina displays don't get burn in thats only crts
I can take off my shades now lol
he's talking about the retina in his eyeballs..
Matthew Maneri yes I know.
The pun
I don't know what the big deal is. You either like using Apple Computers or you don't. It's a choice thing man.
Exactly, I don’t understand why people take someone’s preferences so personally.
true
Angry people suck!
If you don't like apple computers the why are you here!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Added auto changing background and everyone cheered." Is this a joke?
it's always been in the system, just go to sys pref and click on desktop and screensaver and choose desktop and and the bottom you'll see change desktop, just check that and your pictures you want to use and how often you want them to change...duh it's amazing how many mac users don't know how to use their computer
I had the same thought
I have never used Mac OS but thank God.
Brian Weaver they mean changing the background based on time, like the desert slowly getting darker... not just light, then dark.....
Brian Weaver. The new feature is different, it doesn't only cycle through a set of images. It displays an image based on the time of day. I'm not saying its ground breaking but it doesn't already exist (duh).
After removing all ports in macbook, I felt like deserted , now they introduced new Desert OS. WTF!
I wonder how much CPU and RAM will be devoted to the changing background tiles? Really nothing overly exciting in this update.
This is the most comprehensive Mojave video I have seen so far, thank you!
why after upg to mojave, my mac air become hotter and "other volume in container" in storage.
how can i solve this? Can i fallback to high sierra. thx
Can Darkmode not be automatic like Apple TV and switch when sundown?
Typical of the last 3 upgrades, once upgraded several of my purchased apps no longer work. I refuse to play the apple upgrade again. Thinking of switching to pc
00:43 this the bad thing here the old file preview much better then this you can see only one item big and small items for the designer it’s so bad hope there are way to get the old one and we can choose
The best macOS update since Yosemite (2014)
@Dana Wollman
Thank you for presenting this yourself :)
MacOS Mojave. Inspired by the desert.
Because a vast, empty, lifeless wasteland truly captures how Apple feels about the Mac.
Stolen comment from Mac Rumors, lol
Coming up next, macOS Concrete, inspired by the abandoned parking lot in front of where that Circuit City used to be!
well said
Tell that to anyone in the music industry and you'd be shunned...
You're only working on a beta; hopefully, by the time Mojave comes out, there will be a third choice for the dynamic background so what we can get a shifting day to night scene in both light and dark modes. Dark mode allows you to surf on the dark web.

i do not give a crap about the background.
Clean install Mojave on 2016 MBP FPDL2D/A = Finder hangs & System runs out of memory error... How does this pass quality control?

it's been a while since windows copied mac, the last couple of years it's been more like apple copying windows
Still so many features that window has that Mac is still missing.

how did you get the beta?
why stacks only on desktop?? not any finder window?
look great but i need to see performance comparison between hsierra and mojave first.
reason: old hardware
I'm looking forward OLED displays.
Gastón Me too, I hope the new Macbook's will have oled display.
MicroLED is what I'm looking forward to
Sorry to break it to you but OLED’s aren’t equipped as laptop displays due to their burn in from the organic phosphor decay. Apple just wouldn’t take that risk. If anything we could should be looking forward to Micro-LED displays to arrive within maybe 2 years or so.
won't happen
Samsung's oled, let's be real here.
Thats worse than when they debuted the idea of "Touching a photo you've taken with your finger and it magically comes to life!"..... you know... like a movie.... something we've had for decades now.
how can I download tgis version?
is this stable for daily use ?
Once every 2 days would go fine.
Katze Katze thank you
no I've used iOS 10 beta on my phone it eventually got to the point where when i opened youtube id have to wait before scrolling if i did scroll it would never load
When can we download ?
The only thing that apeals to me from mac is the UI. It looks good and is pretty smooth. I just wish it had the stability and compatibility that Windows has then maybe id be willing to try it.
I wish you 'Mericans would stop using the seasons for software release dates Can’t you just mention the month?
Mine is stuck on a grey screen
Isn't it mohaVEE, instead of mohaVAY?
Can you play games with this software?
Definitely not for gaming. Go for Windows 10.
hope new macos is more stable and battery safe
Dose this work in macbook 2016 model?
sure if you download Mojave hehe
Thanks, Dana. I love the kindness in your face.:-_
Ussalaam-Ou-Alaikum And Wishes. Please be very aware with your voice sound near microphone, so it could be heard properly. Hoping better clear voice further. Regards

dude relax just save up for a cheap 2016 mac or something and make sure to get all of your art on to a flash drive or icloud. You'll be fine
Okay...Thank you. =3
@@iramage2235 I could use Chrome or Firefox but who knows how long those will last...
Ad agencies will hate Apple for this hahaha. no retargeted ads = less conversions
Can MacOs using for gaming????
its what my girlfriend does all of the time,
love my apple computer, sold my iphone now i missed it can't wait to get it back.
GOSH DARN IT! I WAS SO EXCITED FOR GROUP FACETIME, BUT APPLE SHOWED IN DEVELOPER BETA 8 THAT IT IS NO LONGER THERE!!!
Thank you for this review. Nothing in the desert for me...
This is the best update ever, thanks for the cool review!
Thanks for feeding us such stuff.
RUclips videos have come a long way from the shaky unprofessional handheld footage
Gnome???
nice video and very good editing, thx..
Very clear presentation. Enjoyed listening Thank-you.
WOW MacOS has TWO themes now.
Sad to know that my early 2011 macbook pro is not on the compatible list. With their prices keep on soaring, I might switch to Windows instead. Thats how they get your money :(

no
Their tiny peens. And for the record its only a semi at the moment ;)
Love watching you talk. Wished Apple gave as much concern to it's computer customers as to the iPhone/iPad market. The last time I installed beta software on my Mac Apple had to come and replace the hard drive. Don't do it on your main computer.
Just a pity they don’t have a computer to run it on...
I bought a 2017 pro 15” and almost every component had to be replaced. thank god
Wow! Excited for this!
I'm looking forward MacBook pro with face id. Then I will get one. Right now, its not worth it. We need OLEd screen on MacBook pro and better processor. They should make it at least have 250 ssd basic starts price
10 features every 1 year , great
Imagine if actual customers made the OS
Matching light with light and dark with dark? I'm offended
I hate people that have never owned an Apple product to complain and say it’s shit.
With Mojave There's no way to set only the Dock and the Menu Bar to be dark !!!!

great vid. enjoyed it
No Azure or single sign on authentication .. apple fails us again in enterprise software solution. Yes i want to waste more time looking at backgrounds and working...
Aww, no more grey buttons
I think the Dell Inspiron 15 is still the best laptop.
RAV MAN maybe a good laptop but not the best
Is this a butterfly?
I really miss Steve now.. Its Apple..! where is the innovation?
Apple products = backward Technology , Apple customers / Fan / culture = the emperor's new clothes
Still can’t run Crysis 😂
As someone once said - some of us want to do grown up things on our computers. Not play games
Bobby Dukes I don’t care about it
Yes they want to do grown up things on their computers like streaming their butt for money, not play games.
still can't realize that the main function of a computer isn't gaming...
Alexander Inzunza It’s 2018. This comment makes no sense. Maybe you should be typing these replies on a commodore.
2024?
gimme glossy textures
the same as the old one just as shit with a ridiculous finder
macOS Line up for 2019 & 2020:
macOS Skyline
macOS Lake Michigan
macOS Railroad Crossing
macOS Menstruation
macOS Climate
macOS Ay Papi
macOS Test Icles
real shit worth 3000 $
Lol new backgrounds
Wow was this boring. She needs not to do another review.
Mojave? Apple is drying out of ideas IMHO
*welcome 2009* 🤣 🤣 🤣
Is it sad I want to buy an apple just for dark mode?
yes
Starved consumer
Yes. Win 10 and Linux already have dark mode.
TruXByakuya Linux has had this "dark mode" for years mate.
who needs dark mode?
Computer literacy and much stronger competitors means that Apple don’t have much in the tank to differentiate themselves other than the brand ans design strengths,
Frankly any messaging, conferencing collaboration software that isn’t open is as good as useless in the real world , Business/ industry uses Teleconferencing stil.l all the time, I don think there is os service or app or contacts db that gets that, what this means is an activity that huge amount of commerce is done over relies on clunky cut and paste workflow to set up, iOS is particularly useless in this regard.
ThinkPad + Ubuntu a way better and cheaper option.
OSX is light years better than Ubuntu...
Nice host.. :)
People still use Mac in 2018?
More people use it than ever, especially if you’re an engineer you’d know how crappy windows is.
More than ever. You would know that unless you were living under some rock for the past few years.
Windows 10 have direct Linux integration, Docker on mac is really sucks...
What kinda engineer are you?
RUclips comment engineer perhaps.
I find this comment extremely funny - extremely - no ONE in my network has used anything but a Mac. My daughter is 12 and never even heard of Windows
Android P is super nice and iOS 12 is good but still behind. MacOS is also significantly behind Windows 10. I mean Apple software does look pretty but that's about it really
Care to elaborate? Because as far as I’m concerned, MacOS is more advanced in many ways that benefits the user and not just the system resources.
MacOS is fare better than all Operating System , please stop compare . Kind regard

just so sooooooo
Now if they'd just bring dark mode to iOS... (not the pseudo 'smart invert' dark mode... but true dark mode)
Jobs must be rolling around in his grave, apple changing the name back to mac OS which it was before Jobs changed it to OXS,
when he came back to apple and bought the next OS with him, and all the new macs after 2016 don't have the start up chime, but mostly windows always copying apple now it's like apple is copying windows, in the five years or so since jobs died apple has been going downhill and I've been using macs since the early 90's since OS 7, I even use this cool app that puts the happy mac back at start up, here's a tip, highlight any word in the finder or in a browser and hold down the apple, control and d key and hold 'em down and watch what happens
DARK MODE!! woooooooooooooooo
saweeeet!
