News excerpt of the Molson Ice Polar Beach Party in Tuktoyaktuk, NWT on September 5th 1995 from CBC's The National which featured Metallica, Hole, Veruca Salt and Moist.
September 3, 1995. Molson Ice Polar Beach Party, Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, Canada. Thank you so much for posting this great and rare video. I never heard of this show until recently and just discovered this news segment. At least the news covered all of the bands live performance as well as some great stuff of the town and its people. It looks like this was the last show for Hole on their "Live Through This Tour." I'm hoping some day we can get the entire pro shot video of this concert and of all the bands that performed there that day.
I was watching the "Ice Road truckers" and noticed where they were all headed for inbound and outbound deliveries. I took an interest in their runs to and from Tuktoyatuk and landed here. I can relate to a first time rock and roll (save) experience. My first (virgin) experience witnessing hard rhythmed, steady driving rock and roll was seeing REO Speedwagon before they ever became famous. Yet I admit, the locals musicians were very entertaining. Thanks!
i remember as a kid watching this on tv .. this was a huge event for the people of tuk .. and they are so damn lucky to have metallica play there ! .. courtney love not so much she profitted too much from kurts "suicide" .. i put it in brackets cause i think it was murder ... but as a native dene canadien .. i wish i was a inuit of tuktoyuktuk just to be there at what i believe is a historic event as a metallica fan .
I lived in Tuktoyaktuk for a year in the early 2000's.
They had a "Courtney Love suite" at the Tuk Inn...lol.
Nice, what did you do up in Tuk, if you don't mind me asking?
