I hope you enjoy this tank review - apologies for reviewing the armour of the stock turret. I'm livestreaming in 30 minutes with Jingles and Ik! www.twitch.tv/quickybaby
Loving the STA-1! Quite horrendous at the start with the 155 pen gun (but you can fire APCR). Using the top gun, I feel like I can always keep the gun singing, and when the shells hit, they penetrate very often. Turret is also surprisingly bouncy. It has shitty armor on the hull of course, but it's a superb ridge warrior in a tier I really enjoy playing. Chi-Ri was fun too, but just extremely situational and slow.
Thanks for giving the STA such a good review; I grinded it non-stop when it came out and nonetheless I averaged over 900xp per game and it did wonders for my overall gameplay;
"I'll tell you how to take it out effectively on the battlefield." I got a kick outta this since almost anything shooting/ramming/giving dirty looks will cause damage. :D
I really love the Ke-Ho. I can carry tier 5 games with it but unlike other tier 4s they'll have a hard time doing. I feel like I'm going to like the rest of the Japanese tanks. Keep up the good work!
Jingles: "tier 7 mediums are... average" QuickyBaby: "I'd rather play a tier 7 than a tier 8 medium" Quicky... I might be wrong, but I think Jingles is right in this one. There aren't any "great" tier 7 mediums, they all lack some really important things... Panther doesn't have alpha damage, T20 armor, T-34-1 gun depression, and the Comet... DPM is nice, but most people cannot make it work without penetration. Tier 8 mediums just seem like all-round good tanks.
I love my STA-1. Nimble and hits decently. I was not as happy with the type-61 since it's so tall and has that huge wart on top of the turret, despite having that quite nice 105 gun. The STB-1 is so far my only tier 10 medium and I enjoy it immensely. The Chi-Ri is a big fat target with bad armor but that auto-loader was a blast to play. Thanks for this video!
The Chi-Ri is one of my favourite tanks! I was so good at it that going to the STA-1 made me suck at it at first, but I got the hang of it, plays alot like the Indien
I've had mine for a little while now and am just grinding for the best gun and with the second best it's not too painful seeing as it's on par with the pershings best in pen, the one thing about this vehicle that makes it stand apart from other tier 8 mediums I've noticed is how quickly it gets up hills it literally goes laps around the Pershing T69 and Centurion.
Well I recently got my STA-1, so it's stock. I did get the 2nd gun. Even stock it's actually pretty fun to play. Like QB says, an all around medium tank, a bit sluggish compared to some other mediums but if you ground your way up the Japanese line, that comes as no surprise. And LOL it actually bounces a shell off the turret, every once in a while--although I wouldn't rely on that. I am looking forward to when I have it fully upgraded.
I have really enjoyed the STA-1 so far. I am not fully upgraded, but still having good games in it with the 2nd gun. can't wait until I have it finished out! Thanks for all of the great vid's QB!
Have this tank and keeping it. My only complaint really is the shell drop. The shells tend to drop below the center of the aim circle when fired across a few hundred meters. But the other soft stats make it great for vision control and flanking.
Nice, basically it plays like a french, well, when traveling. When shooting, you don't have to run away to reload your drum, but you do have to pay special attention to all the little bumps and dips in the terrain.
it seems to penetrate easy with the top cannon, you should make videos on how to play it in stock, without 6th sense, i'm going through that hell now and believe me it's not as graceful gameplay as this one :D
Nice review Quickie. You didn't mention that you have the improved loader and layer onboard, which obviously makes a difference to your rate of fire and therefore your dpm (to state the bleedin' obvious).
I love the STA-1 (and it's not just because I am so happy to finally be done with the Chi-Ri, what a pain that one was...)! The STA-1 seems to fit my playing style and I've done pretty well so far with it. I'm sure that sooner or later, I'll master this tank :-)
QB -- you'll really enjoy the Type 61 and esp. the awesome STB-1 once you get to them. I sold my STA-1 after getting the 61 and STB. I really preferred playing my Centurion as the turret armour and higher AP pen make it a bit better to play in Tier X battles.
I'm going to repeat what I said in Jingle's video: the biggest flaw of the STA-1 compared to its peers (besides the poor armor values) is that the transmission is located in the front left of the tank, beside the driver. Even with only 12% fire chance on the top engine module, I feel the tank still burns easily.
Nice review, but it would be nice to get your opinion on the tank with its stock set up. Its a long grind to get the top gun and it would be fun to hear your tips on playstyle with the stock gun. 155 in pen makes it hard to de well with.
I really wonder why not compare this with the Indien Pz. I really think that this tank is more similar to the german med rather than the Centurion, or the Pershing :). Both you and Jingles did the same thing... Cheers!
I found the grind through the STA 1 to the Type 61 to be about as torturous as the M3 Lee grind was. But now I'm actually pretty decent with the Lee so there you go. BTW the Type 61 is very nice. I imagine it will be quite troll in the hands of QB.
How to take it out effectivly? just shoot at it and it dies :D. It can even get penned by HE shells of an IS-3 (happend several times to me, in the front)
You mentioned the 59-16 as a "dangerous" tank. In the WZ-120 review you said you went up the Chinese lights. Assuming you didn't free exp much of it, what were your thoughts on it? I am grinding through the WZ-132 now, but I really don't have any fond memories of the 59-16.
I have one question about Japanese tanks, not exactly the STA-1, but its predecessor - Chi-Ri, how did you make it work? I'm nearing to STA-1, but struggling with Chi-Ri quite bad, even though I really liked the whole line up to T6 (T7 is also quite fun, but the size of the tank makes it really hard to flank and turret armour and again, its size make it troublesome to go hulldown).
I wonder how it compares to the Indien Panzer, which I liked a lot. Seems like that would be the closest, style-wise, and it also seems like the STA would be better. It's faster and more maneuverable, the gun is a bit better, and has better depression. The only thing it might lack is a bit of armor, but I never really expected to bounce anything off my Indien, so not a big deal. Seems like a great tank to me.
the indien is similar indeed and I don't know how both jingles and quickybaby missed it :) and btw, you can bounce quite a lot of shells actually! don't underestimate its armor capabilities :)
I still like M26 Pershing more, probably because of turret armor. I just don't have the patience to play a support tank anymore, which STA-1 definitely is for me - a support tank / health brawler.
boy RNG loves you, I spend the whole aim time letting my reticule settle and half the time my shell goes off to hit the dirt or hit their mantlet instead of the side hull I was aiming at. What did you have to sacrifice to RNGesus to get his favor?
Okay here's my review of this tank. This tank has no armor, caught on fire all the time, engine would get blown, and seemed to do little damage. I had such a rough time playing this tank it was so frustrating. I was always in the middle or bottom of the leaderboards after every match. That is until I got the final upgrade. Once I fully upgraded this tank I WAS KICKING ASS! I started getting a lot of 3,000+ damage games with this tank and I was top scorer for the team on many many occasions. The funny thing is statistically the final upgrade isn't much different than the previous upgrade, but for whatever reason I started kicking butt in this tank. Yes it still had weak armor, but it seemed like I could take on more shots from the enemy before I died. The best way to play this tank is to use the bushes and downed trees for coverage. Especially at the beginning of your matches. Also, it's important that you don't get too far ahead of your team or get caught playing solo. Make sure to have some backup help. This tank is agile enough to take quick shots and then back up into cover. Also, don't keep fighting in one location. Keep moving around. Your tank has some speed so use it to your advantage. You should always be trying to flank your enemy and not attacking straight on. And don't trade shots!! Also, there are times you need to play this tank like a light tank and focus on getting assists damage instead of you taking the shots yourself. Keep your enemy highlighted while your team does the shooting. Again, I struggled with this tank up until it was fully upgraded. I couldn't see why people liked it so much. I kept giving it bad reviews. But once this tank is fully upgraded then you'll start enjoying it. I'm having a blast with this tank and I don't plan on selling it. I almost have my tier IX Type61, so my time with the STA-1 is almost over but I must say this has been a very interesting tank to play and I would say it's been one of my favorites to play. I thought I would never say that!
Interesting. I sold it one upgrade from fully upgraded. I just didn't think I was good enough to play the tank. It gets two shot killed by almost everyone. (seemed that way at the time)
I went through all the Japanese Tech tree (mediums) up to STA-1. I am not impressed yet, as I did not upgrade the STA-1 yet. So I reserve my judgement. Stock it is a horrible tank (but I am not a good player). I get best results (or less worse) in a Chi-Nu. So maybe tier V is my upper limit??
Grinded up to the STB-1. Indeed I think tier IX and X are a bit too stiff for me. I must however comment on the best feature of Japanese tanks, the penetration. I don't know why, but in my experience it is not as good as advertised. I think I know the weak spots of most tanks and I do try to hit them. But somehow, no... it just does not work on the STA-1 (and Type 61 and STB-1). Which is strange, because in my Chi-nu (tier V) I nearly Always penetrate the enemy tanks I shoot at. Furthermore do not underestimate the effect of having 10m less viewrange than your direct competitors. Because you have no armour in Japanese tanks, you will have the first shot in, and generally lose the duel. So, the best thing is to flee and do no damage. They call it opportunistic play. Not nice.
You could just ram it with a Panther 2. Its almost twice as heavy. Also in your review wouldn't the Indian Panzers gun be a better comparison than the Perishing's. The penetration is closer.
so can somebody tell me how it would be possible to submit a replay to QB for a potential subscriber spotlight? Ace tanker in my Rhm. B. WT. Was a pretty cool game. Just curious.
You should of showed a battle of urban fighting in the tank aswell to show its true effectiveness. Not 2 open-favourable maps at the same time. Otherwise great video.
I hope you enjoy this tank review - apologies for reviewing the armour of the stock turret.

You guyz are so schneaky schneaky
OnlyMusic T
It would be lies.
ecKoz123 it would be.
OnlyMusic T one shot most of the tanks if they are lucky despite the bad accuracy and aim time, OP or not, erm......
***** in a nutshell, fire and hope for the fucking best.
Loving the STA-1! Quite horrendous at the start with the 155 pen gun (but you can fire APCR). Using the top gun, I feel like I can always keep the gun singing, and when the shells hit, they penetrate very often. Turret is also surprisingly bouncy. thank you @quickybaby for the tank review of the sta1 and teaching me how to play the tank and telling me what positions I should go in my sta1
I love your tank reviews, they are so in depth and detailed and they help me on the battlefield. Keep up the great work bud i enjoy it!
Thanks for giving the STA such a good review; I grinded it non-stop when it came out and nonetheless I averaged over 900xp per game and it did wonders for my overall gameplay;
"I'll tell you how to take it out effectively on the battlefield."
I got a kick outta this since almost anything shooting/ramming/giving dirty looks will cause damage. :D
This is the perfect moment to compare the jingles and QB reviews ;)
I prefer QB's, he has much more experience with the tank, I like the information he gives better, and he's a much better player. :)
True but jingles still has something that i cant describe
I think Jingles' laugh and heavy breathing is incredibly annoying.
Jingles is more if you want a laugh, but if you want the best information then quickybaby, jingles hardly reviews tanks anymore
I really love the Ke-Ho. I can carry tier 5 games with it but unlike other tier 4s they'll have a hard time doing. I feel like I'm going to like the rest of the Japanese tanks. Keep up the good work!
Jingles: "tier 7 mediums are... average"

Panther doesn't have alpha damage, T20 armor, T-34-1 gun depression, and the Comet... DPM is nice, but most people cannot make it work without penetration. Tier 8 mediums just seem like all-round good tanks.
People make different things work, for me the Comet is the best tank tier for tier in the game and the one I have consistently good games in.
QuickyBabyTV Well, I suppose that's right. It's always about what fits you the most... thanks for answering :)
I bounced a 128mm shell from my Ferdi off one of these yesterday. It's safe to say I was none too pleased with that lol.
QB jingles just did a review of this tank today and it was 37min long too...
I like to see the different views of Jingles and QB together, wish they did this more :)
Thanks for this video!
is it just a coincidence that you and jingles release the tank review on the same tank on the same day?
The Chi-Ri is one of my favourite tanks! I was so good at it that going to the STA-1 made me suck at it at first, but I got the hang of it, plays alot like the Indien
that t32 was putting up a good fight at the end, gotta respect the ones that go down swinging
Excellent video! Thank you for the thoroughly comprehensive review of this tank.

Haha two STA videos 1 hour between each other ;)
Both are 37 mins long, lol :)
LadOfEngland I spy an illuminati conspiracy...
Mark Caskie ik gonna make one next to complete the trilogy....
Brendan Raistrick Err Ma Gerd!!!
I have really enjoyed the STA-1 so far. I am not fully upgraded, but still having good games in it with the 2nd gun. can't wait until I have it finished out! Thanks for all of the great vid's QB!

I like the Cent 1 better because I love to have ability to go hull down.Another great review QB!
Gotta love that reroll KV-3 in the El Halluf game.
Oh God, they played together for so long that their youtube channels have become synchronised.
Like women and their periods!
QuickyBabyTV ok?
Oh Quicky,you so silly
QuickyBabyTV Exactly what I thought
QuickyBabyTV
Brace yourself, feminists will not like your comment
it seems to penetrate easy with the top cannon, you should make videos on how to play it in stock, without 6th sense, i'm going through that hell now and believe me it's not as graceful gameplay as this one :D
The Pershing has a 268mm pen apcr round so yeah the whole shooting heavies in the front thing can happen.
Good timing with Jingles
:P
Nice review Quickie. You didn't mention that you have the improved loader and layer onboard, which obviously makes a difference to your rate of fire and therefore your dpm (to state the bleedin' obvious).

jingles also just did uplaod a sta 1 previeuw :P

Small Quickybaby derp-moment: looking at the armor of the stockturret
Great Video. I love my STA-1 a lot! Look forward to seeing the live stream later!
What socery! I just finished Jingles's review!
Quicky, that was the stock turret you were using in the tank viewer
Lol, I just finished watching Jingles' STA-1 review
thank you quickybaby hanks to your video i went and got this tank today and i love it already ... keep doing what your doing
Nice review, but it would be nice to get your opinion on the tank with its stock set up. Its a long grind to get the top gun and it would be fun to hear your tips on playstyle with the stock gun. 155 in pen makes it hard to de well with.
It's a good comparison of reviews from you two :)
I really wonder why not compare this with the Indien Pz. I really think that this tank is more similar to the german med rather than the Centurion, or the Pershing :). Both you and Jingles did the same thing...
Cheers!
Great review, we are waiting for Type 61 now
I found the grind through the STA 1 to the Type 61 to be about as torturous as the M3 Lee grind was. But now I'm actually pretty decent with the Lee so there you go. BTW the Type 61 is very nice. I imagine it will be quite troll in the hands of QB.
Says that the sta1 doesn't need HEAT shells, still carries 15 of them...
He needs them for carrying donkeys :)
So... Could I expect a Mingles with QuickyBaby soon? :P
I do Q+A every stream three times a week.
QuickyBabyTV No all of us can make it to your streams....
How to take it out effectivly? just shoot at it and it dies :D. It can even get penned by HE shells of an IS-3 (happend several times to me, in the front)
As I said in the review - gun depression over the back of the tank is non-existent and the armour is poor.
Thats what I like with the Type 61. It gets decent gun depression over the back, dont know how much but it is way better than the STA-1.
Don't get shot! Hahahah! No matter how ridiculous it sounds, but you should know that if you ever played frenchies.
A T34 thought the same thing you did, and loaded a HE right into my mantlet. Cost him his tank /o/
Seeing that wall of purple win rates made me sad at the end of the video. :( Great job in those games QB.
"It's like X marks the spot."
ARRGGGG matey. We found da booty!
This motivates me to keep going with the Chi-.. tanks.
They are so slow for med tanks =(
You mentioned the 59-16 as a "dangerous" tank. In the WZ-120 review you said you went up the Chinese lights. Assuming you didn't free exp much of it, what were your thoughts on it? I am grinding through the WZ-132 now, but I really don't have any fond memories of the 59-16.
It's the STA-1 review weekend!
One thing qb your review of the turret armour was for the stock turret sta-1 need to look at sta-3 instead otherwise great as normal :)
Thanks for this nice rewiew once again, it was great! Are you planning on doing rewiew of m48 patton as it is your most played tank?
Watched both Jingles and QB review. Win
Question? Are you and jingles fighting on who makes the best review?
I wonder how it compares to the Indien Panzer, which I liked a lot. Seems like that would be the closest, style-wise, and it also seems like the STA would be better. 37:08 quicky almost suffers a nerdgasm i think =D
I literally just finished Jingles' review of this tank lol
Can u do a revew on the new MT-25 it have +100 engine power and ground rezistence... wat u thinck is close to the T-50-2 ?
boy RNG loves you, I spend the whole aim time letting my reticule settle and half the time my shell goes off to hit the dirt or hit their mantlet instead of the side hull I was aiming at. What did you have to sacrifice to RNGesus to get his favor?
Hey guys welcome back to quick tank review ... 38 min > I call this a Jingles effect.
Okay here's my review of this tank. This tank has no armor, caught on fire all the time, engine would get blown, and seemed to do little damage. I had such a rough time playing this tank it was so frustrating. I was always in the middle or bottom of the leaderboards after every match. That is until I got the final upgrade. is qb in sinc with jingles have the same tank review on the same day.
How to take it out? Throw a rock at it.
Another excellent review
I think it is a nice tank and even without all upgrades( no topgun and turret) i got my acetanker.
Kv 4 not Kv 1 and panther ii not jpanther ii, OMG Quickybaby is turning into Jingles!
Im a new subscriber, great videos. I have a question, where do you get those cool garage skins? Thanks
Good job quicky , great tank
Obj 416 pwns this tank any thoughts ? At least in dpm any way accordong to tank compare
oh man... that lamp! Is he an endorser of a lamp company?? Where can I buy a black lamp like that??!
Not nice.
Isnt it funny that qb did a review on the STA-1 the same day as Jingles did :D ?
Very nice :3 I thought this tank wasnt thaaaat good, but this video made me more intrested in it :)
You could just ram it with a Panther 2. Its almost twice as heavy.
Also in your review wouldn't the Indian Panzers gun be a better comparison than the Perishing's. The penetration is closer.
Both Jingles and now Quicky does a STA-1 review what is this?
why is this video's quality only 720p? But another great tank review :)
Hi QB, nice graphics .... what do you have for a video card?
so can somebody tell me how it would be possible to submit a replay to QB for a potential subscriber spotlight? Ace tanker in my Rhm. B. WT. Was a pretty cool game. Just curious.
Lol just when jingles releases the review...which one to watch first? :D
QB advice please Pershing or STA1?
can you make a Review of the STB-1 when you have it?
Copied jingles? Pfft. 2 opinions and play styles are better than one. Just means you might learn a lot more watching both.
Correct. I'm watching both anyway.
taief miah ill have to check that out. Wasnt aware he had a channel. Should've known.
I should take this out for the first time now, but how do I set it up? U had a better haircut then now back then. :-)
Miss communication with Jingles ?
Hi Quickybaby
how do you play this tank againt T9 and T10 tanks?
Are you going to keep the chi-ri?
can't wait until Type-61
Tier 9s and 10s always bounce me when I'm backing.
Quickbaby wats ur graphics settings?
This tank come out 6 years ago?
Why when I completed the mission for T26E4 Super Pershing with British and Soviet Tanks I didn't received this tank
But I'm playing only with Soviet and British Tanks
lol jingles also uploaded the same tank review today
25.20,KV1?
Deja Vu in that Swamp map...
You should of showed a battle of urban fighting in the tank aswell to show its true effectiveness. Not 2 open-favourable maps at the same time. Otherwise great video.
