@Ncdcfan that’s the gimmick with Westside and equipped. Put Ray Williams in a squat suit and he wouldn’t be able to squat as much as Chuck. Equipped and raw is a whole different sport and people need to understand that and respect that.
I have two of these video tapes. I uploaded them and because they were playing music from several different bands on the boombox while they were working out, the videos got blocked with copyright claims. It's cool you got this video up with no problem.
Yeah haven’t had any problems so far! I know what you mean but I think all the shouting from the lifters kinda blur the music out sometimes and RUclips doesn’t pick it up 😂
@@DraganRonaldo95 Right now, I don't know off hand. But if I do find out, I'll let you know. They MIGHT have the DVD's for sale on the official westside barbell website. Best guess right now.
I recently switched to higher bar from using quite a low position. Has helped me a ton! Widened my stance and switched to high bar, allows me to use my sumo strength in the squat!
@@aba192 Short answer: No. Long answer: My deadlift compared to my squat is way better. Switching to a stance that allowed me to use my sumo strengths made my squat shoot up! I’ve done looots of hypers and GM’s in my time which I still do so my lower back has no issue with the switch neither. You will however have to anticipate strength loss because you’re switching styles, once you can do that, then switch, don’t let it bring you down! I liked what Louie said about squat stance: A wide stance can always go close stance, but a close stance can never go wide. Sorry for the long answer but that’s my 5 cents!
@@BenjaminKuruga That was the early days, later they realised they had to adapt so they did use gear close to training but ”the most gear” they’d use was a squat suit with the straps down, bench shirt I’m not sure, I believe I’ve seen some westsiders back in the 2000’s wearing a shirt but don’t quote me on it
We need more good old Chuck videos
Thanks man
I don’t think I’d ever heard this guy talk before
Some say that it's the first and last time Chuck ever spoke.

That just builds the myth tbh, such a cool character

Never really thought about bar placement and foot placement having a correlation. But that makes sense. Smart dude
The footage you post is gold. This is great
That’s 2003? It reminds me of the 80s!

Can watch this guy squat all day
I have to upvote this out of due respect for Louie et al., Westside Barbell, and its history.
I use the second technique leaning over.. Ill try the first one too see how that feels

What did Chuck say his progression was on wearing gear as a meet draws closer?
Far as we know, or per Louie, for most of their prep they didn't wear gear until the day of
