Candy Morningstar- Thank you so much once again, for another great reaction!! I enjoy this episode a lot. When I first watched it... I couldn't help but cringe every time Candy comes onscreen because she is such a bimbo, but I still liked her somewhat because she's adorable in her own way too. And then when it's revealed in the end that she is Lucifer's plan to get back at his mother and brother and to learn what Charlotte is really after, as well as to help himself to get back into Chloe's good graces, not to mention that she's not at all the persona she portrays to help Lucifer... I immediately came to love her very much. Especially upon seeing her as her true self. This episode becomes so much better all throughout because of the twist that Candy's ditziness is all an act and Lucifer's plan. Fantastic!!! And I really love the actress who plays Candy for her role as Candy Morningstar too... Lindsey Gort. :)
One of my favorite moments within this episode, is Lucifer's confrontation with Amenadiel, when Amenadiel comes to ask Lucifer to explain why he's with Candy after Lucifer had asked him to look after Chloe for him while he was away. I love, love, love when Lucifer finally admits his real reasons for "marrying" Candy, is because he is saving Chloe from her feelings for him because he sadly believes Chloe isn't in control of her feelings. That he's protecting her from him. The look on Lucifer's face and the sadness in his eyes in this moment is heartbreaking. And as we know... Lucifer doesn't lie, so of course this revelation is very true. His heartbreak from needing to break things off with Chloe is definitely not just a part of his ruse.
I also somewhat like how Amenadiel stands up for their mother, even though I still hate her for manipulating Lucifer so cruelly. I also find it a bit annoying too, because Amenadiel is constantly defending her actions knowing full well that she's okay with hurting Lucifer emotionally in order to get everything she wants for herself. But with all that aside... it's good of him to encourage Lucifer to try to make things right with their mother, because he is right that Charlotte did sacrifice a lot by going down to Hell to save her son. I just wish I could say that she's learned from her mistakes too. Whether or not she has... you'll have to wait and see. It's clear that she's desperate to find her way back into Heaven, or what the angels call... the Silver City. And she will do whatever it takes to get back home. And I most certainly don't condone her actions in doing everything she can to hurt Lucifer, all so she can return to Heaven.
But with that being said... I love, love, love that Lucifer has asked Candy for help to manipulate his mother in order to trick her into revealing her true motivations and plans, knowing that hurting his mother in turn by convincing her that she had broken him so much that he would go out and doing something so rash as to marry a bimbo is the only way to break through to her enough to learn her true motives. It's a brilliant plan.
Another of my favorite moments is when Chloe and Lucifer go to the drummer's house to talk with him about being suspected of killing the band's lead singer. However, Chloe steps out of the room once Lucifer answers Candy's call, until he's suddenly attacked by their suspect who turns out to be their killer, and Chloe must talk him down to save Lucifer, eventually being forced to shoot him.
I absolutely love Lucifer's struggles throughout this episode to try to earn back Chloe's trust in spite of how rash and foolish he's been since he left her two weeks earlier, only to come back to Los Angeles married to an exotic dancer who's a ditsy blonde with barely an IQ. Sadly, upon Chloe constantly pushing him away and him failing her, it leads to Lucifer feeling that he's got nothing left to live for if he can't remain as Chloe's partner. And when he's being strangled, Lucifer begs the killer to kill him, and even demands that Chloe just shoot him when the killer just becomes confused by Lucifer's and Chloe's interactions. Which is so sad, because you know Lucifer means what he's saying in this moment because he doesn't lie. He is so desperate to have Chloe in his life somehow, that without her, he would rather die. My heart always just breaks for him a little more in this scene every time I watch it. Thankfully, Chloe is able to shoot their killer only in spite of her own confusion by Lucifer's words, and manages to save Lucifer in spite of his recklessness.
And then... Candy arrives at the apartment to see if Lucifer is okay upon hearing him get attacked through the phone, when she finds Chloe and thanks her for saving her husband's life. And in doing so, without Lucifer asking her to, she proves to Chloe that Lucifer means well and loves working with Chloe more than anything. But more so... she lets Chloe know how broken he had become upon her getting sick and then nearly dying. Letting her know that he was a wreck without her, fearing he would never be with her again. And I love Candy for this. She's so sweet and so when it's revealed in the end that she only married him and was just acting like a bimbo all just to con Lucifer's family and co-workers for him, I absolutely love this reveal all the more! :)
Thankfully... Candy's words get through to Chloe as she comes to understand she wasn't the only one of them who suffered from her near death experience, and because of this, she nonchalantly tells Lucifer she's happy to have him back as her partner again as if nothing's changed between them before they tried to get together as more than just partners, by telling him she would see him in the morning. And I love the look of surprise and happiness on his face when he smiles at her and she at him. So cute. :)
In regards to why Lucifer has asked Candy to manipulate Chloe too... it's not so that he can win back Chloe's heart as much as he wishes to do so, but it's because Lucifer simply wants Chloe to be in his life in any way that he can convince her to be so. So, he chooses to do whatever he can so they can become partners again, as if they never started to grow deeper feelings for one another. Lucifer needs Chloe and wants her to want him be a part of his life, in any way she'll let him be. In spite of the bitter pill he must swallow in the belief that they can never be anything more no matter how much he longs for them to be so. He just wants to protect Chloe from everything, including her choice to choose who she loves. And Lucifer understands the importance of free will better than anyone, since it is the one thing he truly desires outside of Chloe, and has ever since he was born.
So heartbreaking and yet I love him all the more for it.

As for the overall case... I really enjoy it. It is a little bit weak. However, there are definitely parts of this case that are still fun too. I didn't expect the killer to be the drummer of the band. And I like how this case leads Chloe and Lucifer to going undercover as a married couple when Chloe poses as Candy to try to get information out of the lawyer and wannabe manager of the band. I love the awkwardness between Lucifer and Chloe throughout their investigation, and seeing them struggle to come back together as partners. But more so... I especially love the moment Lucifer sings Eternal Flame for Chloe, while also drawing out their current suspect... the band's guitar player. His voice once again is absolutely phenomenal. He is so adorable while he's singing to her, as he keeps his eyes on Chloe the whole time. Also... I love that while Chloe is trying really hard not to smile because she's so annoyed and angry with him, she still can't help but smile and even laugh. So cute!!! :)
Next... I enjoy the scene between Lucifer and Charlotte towards the end as well. when Lucifer finally comes to confront his mother. Like I said in my comments for your last reaction... I know that Charlotte does love her son. And that in her mind, she means well. However, I understand Lucifer's anger towards her and why he can't trust a word she says to him even more so. Yet I love that he still acknowledges her own sacrifice she made for him too. And the truth is that he is really far more angry with God because he's never once lifted a finger to help him since casting him down into Hell, while Charlotte does at least make some effort to help him... whether she's right or wrong in how she goes about doing so. And then... Charlotte finally reveals to Lucifer why she's been doing all she has done which is exactly what Lucifer wants and why he has really done all he has with Candy to gain, as Charlotte tells him her plans to return to the Silver City, and in so doing, she also tells him about Azrael's blade being the key to them getting back in. And after she's finished, I love the look of concern on Lucifer's face, because now Lucifer realizes he has to make a difficult choice... To stay on Earth with Chloe, and among his friends and the humans he's become so attached to, or to return home to Heaven like his mother and brother want of him, to where he is still unwanted and doesn't feel like he belongs. Love it!
I absolutely love the ending between Lucifer and Candy. I love finally seeing her true self, and hearing her real voice. It's also revealed to us that Lucifer had done something big for Candy while in Vegas that truly meant a lot to her, which is why she's helping him now to repay him for his help.
As for the money he spent in the beginning upon giving it to those shady guys... it could actually be for two things. One... Lucifer could be paying someone off in order to save and protect Candy just like Candy later reveals to him that he had saved her life from someone hurting her just like this revelation could imply. Just like you both thought. Or two... it could also simply be payment for Candy's wedding ring that she's wearing throughout this episode, which is why she attempts to give it back to Lucifer in the end, only for him to allow her to keep it, while also offering her another of his rings that must be quite valuable as well... as he jokes with her about divorce not being cheap. I think this is just his way of helping her out so she can start a new life after her troubling life Lucifer helped her out of. And I really love this about Lucifer. He doesn't see himself as a good man, but he really is. He cares about people more than even he really understands.
And lastly... I really love how Dan is trying to help Chloe to understand that she ought to forgive Lucifer, as he attempts to defend Lucifer, which is really surprising, given that Dan has never been one to be in Lucifer's corner so to speak. More so... I just absolutely love how Dan explains he's defending Lucifer now, because he recognizes that Lucifer had risked his life to save Chloe's when she was dying, even though he doesn't know how Lucifer had done so. I really appreciate this about Dan very much and it shows how far his own relationship with Lucifer has come already after just a few episodes, since their heart to heart in the end of the previous episode... My Little Monkey.
Oh... and I doubt that anyone's told Chloe how Lucifer really saved her life, given that no one other than Amenadiel, Maze, Linda, and Charlotte know that he actually died to go down to Hell for her. And since Chloe, Dan, and Ella aren't aware of who any of them really are, Chloe certainly wouldn't understand Lucifer's sacrifice for her.
Thank you so much again! Another fun reaction for another fantastic episode! I can't wait for many more Lucifer reactions to come!! Until next time, my friend...
