God I want this game to get remade. The whole atmosphere of this game is *impeccable* and if it was remade with better gameplay, slightly improved story bits, more character depth (all of it is saved in region locked novellas :() and that sweet sweet ungodly soundtrack in 4K, I genuinely think it would be a masterpiece.
I want "Nier Origin: Drakengard" as a remake, and/or as Anime, placed before "Nier: Automata" on Netflix. Those characters should be converted into D&D, even though that night kinda escalate quickly... 😅
Maaaaan I remember playing this around when it first came out. Couldn't put it down. It was just so enticing to me for some reason. Oh how I wish Square would do a HD remake of it.
Bro, first time riding Angelus blows my mind. The transition between ground fight to mid air fight like that was uncommon considering the technology of that time
Has and always will be one of my all time videogame favorites. My first tattoo was Caim's pact sigil. It's unfortunate Cavia no longer exists, and we most likely will never see a continuation of this great series. Nier was astounding and heartbreaking, but I truly missed the inclusion of Dragons and the Watchers.
With the DoD series' 20th anniversary coming around the corner and the successes of NieR:Automata and the NieR Replicant remake, we could be either getting a Drakengard 4, HD ports, or a remake of the first game.
+Nigredo Kukai I grew up on Drakengard 1 and didn't know that there was a sequel till I was a freshmen in high school, 6 years after its release. I've since been playing all of the games, having beaten all of Drakengard 1's endings, beaten Drakengard 2's first ending, beaten all of NieR's endings, and so far gotten through Drakengard 3's first ending. It's my favorite RPG series.
***** Well, funny that you say "Drakengard 2's first ending" instead of "Nier's endings" or "Drakengard's endings," as well as "Drakengard 3's first ending." This implies that you're working on more endings in Drakengard 3, and that you've quit Drakengard 2 after the first ending. Are you sure you're more fond of Drakengard 2? In any case, I'm contemplating that same path, but I also might just drop 2 because jesus fucking christ I can't stand it. It heavily contrasts with Drakengard 1.
Schrodinger's Pussy I only "dropped 2" as I don't have a memory card for my PS2 anymore. Meanwhile I have the option to play 3 and just haven't because the game is really, really, really frustrating to play. I started finally getting into the story as things began to twist working on the second ending, but the clunky gameplay and awful, *awful* FPS has kept me from continuing. I barely made it to Drakengard 3's first ending. I thoroughly enjoyed 2, especially once shit gets crazy again.
Used to watch my older brother play this a lot when I was much younger. Remember that I thought the game was so cool and the story made me want to know so much more about the lore and the whole universe of drakengard... Definitely, have to buy this again to my ps2 and play it again!
It seems that somewhat miraculously all Yoko Taro games hit the spot better in their English versions (with the exception of some of Zero's subtlety lost in Drakengard's 3 En version).
A lot of stuff was toned down for western versions. They tried to get rid of any indication of Furiae wanting to incest Caim. Made a certain cutscene make no sense if you didn't pick up on it.
Akay4444444444444444 Yeah mainly through his fairy, and her comment when you fight the children soldiers. For Furiae, Manah was supposed to mention them but were cut out. Still Caim's reaction helped clear things a bit.(only when I played it a few months before D3, since I was 8 when I played it for the first time) along with Inuart's hatred, constantly mentioning he was her fiance. Did you hear about Nier new project? With that dev team, its going to be something.
GamielX Yep. A little suspicious since previous characters have been confirmed to return but I'm looking forward to it! I played the first game originally when I was 7 so... MURDER!
"Caim, please! No more! We cannot!" I wager that most people who watched this trailer before playing the game, and who picked up on this line, thought that this was something an antagonist's second-in-command says. Even those who understood that it's the protagonist who was about to do something bad, still had no idea just *what* exactly was about to go down. It's also funny how this trailer technically spoils every ending (besides A and C, maybe?), but the visuals are so out there, no-one would recognize it until they got to those points in the game.
Man, back when i played this game i was not fluent in english (so, most of thing i just left pass).. But every line said in this trailer I immediatly recognized when it was told in game... So fucking creep when I learned english years before and re-played this game.. Even today I find myself wondering how this sick game became one of my favorites..
Still can't believe the woman who sings this song plays my favorite live action Tinkerbell... XD She's very adorable! The Peter Pan movie she's in is the one with Jeremy Sumpter as Peter Pan.
AWESOME TRAILER!! I could watch it over and over again forever XD the music fits perfectly with the story.. I'm playing the second now, and its awesome, the first its downloading XD
Love the version the version of that song in the second. Lol, I'd forgotten how insane some of the characters were, Drakengard 2 is babyish compared to this lol.
I still carry these memories inside. I'm afraid this game had a big impact of me when I played it. At the ripe age of 13 XD although at the time I didn't understand everything that was happening. Only in a few years after it, I was digging deeper. I remember when Drakengard 2 came out, and it was quite a let down story vise, which made me come back to the first one, by then my english knowledge and age allowed me to understand the grim reality of that game more,
So nier replicant ver.1.22 etc is coming to ps4 and xbox one and I'm very excited to play it so to celebrate I'm rewatching drakengard 1 ( for the umpteen time) the release of of the new nier replicant ver coming soon in April.
@daTselle yup, he's a blue dragon in 2 and one of his upgraded forms is the black dragon. The game explains he's the same dragon towards the end in the Book of Seeds. It's not very clear to me why he's basically in a downgraded blue form in 2 though, but I have some thoughts about that. Anyways, yes that's him.
This is one of those games that changed my opinion on how a game should really be made. The story was outstanding. I would have to say in my top five of all time. The voice acting also sucked you in. I still remember in I first heard Inuart cried out for Furiae. It gave me chills. Also they made one of the best in game relationships between Caim and Angelus. The first endings all I have to say about that. lol Make a 3rd!!!!!! Dx
LOVE BOTH OF THEM! Both have so many twists in the storyline plus hours of gameplay after the missions. Does kinda get boring seeing the same landscape for alot of the missions. Even now they are my favorite games
i remeber this game, i only played it once and i got half way though until i gave up, now that i look back, i sucked at video games as a kid, now that im much better i want to play this game again
I love this game, all it wasn't a 'at-first-sight' thing. My uncle got it when I was about 11, and I just wasn't interested in fighting over 600 enemies on a single battlefield. My dad got it a few years later, and my brother forced me into playing. I'm glad he did. :D
His best smile was in Drakengard 2 when Angelus cries out his name three times and then he has this most deliciously evil grin on his face. When I saw it I was overjoyed with how creepy he looked. I just wish that it was part of a cinematic so I didn't have to play the mission, I could just play the movie and see it.
Drakengard 2... I think it's a good purchase. The gameplay has been improved somewhat from Drakengard, with the result of making the game easier in the beginning, without overall reducing the difficulty from the original. Story-wise it's a little... brighter, maybe, unless you read the weapon histories, which got darker, and often lead on from or are based off a history in Drakengard. I'd say it's a worthy successor to Drakengard.
The first game's song has a drumbeat throughout the entire song, the second one's got almost no backround sound, so it's calmer, but the lyrics and melody are pretty much the same
This is still, and always will be my 2nd favorite game of all time (technically it's tied with FFX at #1, but between both I have to favor FFX more). I love it so much that Caim's pact sigil on his tongue is the first tattoo I ever got. LALALALALA...THE WATCHERS!

Also in the 2nd the armaggedon background looks terrible. First: Blood-red+black. Looks like it could be end of the world, awesomeness. I also like the background in Chapter 12 Verse 6 where the grotesqueries are multiplying and are all different sizes. Then we hit the... Second: pink/violet swirly shit. looks like a painted wall I saw in a hotel bathroom once. -____-
¿at the end inuart says "No more gods we are freee" or "No more god we are freaks"? i dont remember the subs xD. Such a good surprise i have with this game, one of my favorites.

For those who keep coming back to the world of Drakengard, Square Enix just recently filed to trademark "Drakerider" and "Blood of Chaos"! Hope and pray
@valentinog I hope in the 3 months since you wrote that, you have played the crap out of both Drakengard 2 and Nier, and unlocked all the endings for both!
Try Baroque(ps2/wii one) for the simmilar story experience and Panzer Dragoon (saturn/xbox) serie for the feel of the dragon riding sections. I wouldnt be suprised if those games inspired cavia to make the serie some of the simmilarities are really striking
Hello again. Still love the vid. :3 Also, if anyone is interested, in a few months(once I get the damn time to write it,) I will be posting a complete walkthrough of DG2. They have a perfect one for DG1 already, so I won't be doing another. (Even tho I hit 100% for both months ago...X3 ) Anywhozit, when it's finished, I can e-mail it to the nice ppl who love the DG series as much as I do. :D
Oh my God it took me forever to build up all the weapons. Hymer's Finger and Kingsblood are the best weapons. Reading all the stories that the weapons have took a while too, and there's only one happy ending in all of them, lol.
"No more Gods! We're free!"
That line gives me chills to this very day.
followed by desperate laughter of madness...
how fitting.
@K.O.G.Fanstarks1610 I agree with this theory.
God I want this game to get remade. Ну этот был бы шедевр но в наше время с неграми и геями это будет сделать невозможно
@@Капитан-г6п lol
This game has such a uniqe story. Caim's life was like a Shakespearean tragedy and an epic peom mixed together. I love this game so much.
I want a remake of this game. Caim is a beast.
I want "Nier Origin: Drakengard" as a remake, and/or as Anime, placed before "Nier: Automata" on Netflix.
Those characters should be converted into D&D, even though that night kinda escalate quickly... 😅

@@timothyfinn3619 I would absolutely love a remake of the insane little ps2 game I played as a baby teenager that birthed my love of dark fantasy
I just beat Nier and thought it was one of the greatest games ever made. Now I seriously wanna get into the Drakengard series.
+Nigredo Kukai I grew up on Drakengard 1 and didn't know that there was a sequel till I was a freshmen in high school, 6 years after its release.

+OroCrimson Drakengard 2 is pretty stale tbh.
Schrodinger's Pussy
Like it much better than Drakengard 3 tbh.

Thank you for upload this!
The idea to make this trailer the demo for the game, what you see when you let the title screen roll over, is darkly genius.
This gave me chills the first few times I watched it.
It seems that somewhat miraculously all Yoko Taro games hit the spot better in their English versions (with the exception of some of Zero's subtlety lost in Drakengard's 3 En version).
Indeed
Hopefully there a remake for this gem of a flawed messed up masterpiece so ahead of its time that’s for sure
A lot of stuff was toned down for western versions. They tried to get rid of any indication of Furiae wanting to incest Caim. Made a certain cutscene make no sense if you didn't pick up on it.
Akay4444444444444444 Not to mention Leonard's activities.
GamielX Oh those were actually present and get mentioned. They made it more subtle but it's still there. Unlike Furiae's... desires.
Akay4444444444444444 Yeah mainly through his fairy, and her comment when you fight the children soldiers.

I fully expect to be coming back here when a Drakengard remaster is announced around 2022. please square 😭

I really hope someday they'll remake this game:)
How the hell does Legna defeat Angelus in the 2nd when in the 1st she beat him twice while he was in his chaos mode!? WTF!

HOLY SHIT, YOU ARE AN ANGEL OF GOOD NEWS THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU :D *cries tears of joy*
Edgar Ivan Sanchesz Berni the name of the song is Growing Wings
this would make an exreamly epic movie
Best of luck to finding it. I have the first one and do not regret buying it. I am also glad that I came across the demo before buying this.
In drakengard 1 just revisit the chapter.
In drakengard two, you have to visit the movie place which is on the map somewhere.
@DaCoolKids this game gave you chills with the story line, and it had some the best voice acting of any game ever made.

Nice trailer anyway :)
can we get all three Drakengards to be remastered? for the newer generation who now can play Nier and Nier: Automata
I loved the little kid's voice actor hes in litteraly any cartoon and video game everything hes in is awesome I can't think of his name
LONG LIVE DRAKENGARD!!!!
I love this game, all it wasn't a 'at-first-sight' thing. My uncle got it when I was about 11, and I just wasn't interested in fighting over 600 enemies on a single battlefield. My dad got it a few years later, and my brother forced me into playing.
I'm glad he did. :D
Dude same and I'm from the future 2k19
I like to think that all of the endings are cannon and would lead into even more messed up sequels if cavia didnt die
If only I can find this game somewhere for an acceptable price...
omg, best two games I've ever played, very sad, made me cry, and leaves you wanting more,

I hope that Drakengard will get a new game some day...I know that Cavia no longer exists but one can hope.... :C
Drakengard!
There will be other offers. Alternatively, Amazon has quite a few second-hand copies listed.
Drakengard 3 has a trailer and a release date (as of today) 5/20 I believe.
The first game's song has a drumbeat throughout the entire song, the second one's got almost no backround sound, so it's calmer, but the lyrics and melody are pretty much the same
THE POWER OF DRAGONS!!

I have the theme song in Japanese, so if u want I'd be glad to send it to you ^^
and I absolutely agree with you. this game is my all time favorite.
A flawed, but relentlessly enjoying game, the cinematics were so gorgeous!
And the laughter at 0:05 of this just shows how serious this is. But it is just the laughter itself...I love it. I do not mind going through the repitition of the game play. The background comments help some. And the dragon's voice is rather suitable.
I am still weary about Drakengard 2. The demo was not convincing enough for me to buy it off the bat. Would anyone suggest I purchase it?
15 años ya, este video es mas viejo que tarma
Best game now and for ever
and the story did give way to a bit better gameplay in the second one..., just depressing in the second one, i nearly cried
This looks good. How can I convince my dad to let me have it though? I totally want to try it though!
@Senkiatzu it's unkown so I'm pretty sure they didn't make a version other than the PS2

Drakengard!

@ChaosXUnleashed the new game " Neir" is based after the drakengard games
@Khachik2003 The dragon is called the Wyrm, and obviously it's defeated. You wouldn't see a fight against it otherwise
