We Chinese eat the other type of cordyceps too, 虫草花 (cordycep militaris) the one not grown on bugs. It’s cheaper and still tastes great :)

This mushroom was reclassified to Ophiocordyceps sinensis fairly recently! Fun lil science fact for ya
Update: the reclassification happened all the way back in 2007! So I’m not sure why it’s still called Cordyceps so often.
