The System was the shit during the retro 80's. Damn I miss those days.
+Brian Moore
I jammed them in Germany in the 80's!! Like you sir, I miss those days like crazy!
+Brian Moore They played in every club
+Brian Moore The best music....EVER!
+Brian Moore I miss those days too Brian
No lie Brian! They put out the good stuff!
The System was over looked and under rated!
Yes, they were. They are the business!!!
I,m 50yrs of age and the songs of the 80,s are still in my system.
can be in your system till your 100
Peggy.......yessssssss👍
I'm 53. I know the feeling.
I will get some slack for this - But the 1980s was better musically than the 1960's..So many great songs and movies.. sometimes we got movies and music combined...
Yeah me too...they'll live on in us forever!
This track was so ahead of its time. The system is a very underrated group
This is one of those 80's tunes that simply personified the 80's! Luv you, Mic Murphy!
Great song. I didn't realize, until recently, that David Frank (keyboardist) played all the synth parts on 2 of Phil Collins' biggest hits: "Susssudio" & "Don't Lose My Number". Pretty cool.
🌍🌎🌏🌐🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫😅😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳😎😎😎😎😎😎😎❤❤💯💯💯💯💯💯
That's cool , I never knew that ! These guys deserved way better.
The system , pure genius!!
Ana Avila Very Original
Ana Avila It's good to see a young woman doing her homework when it comes to old/classic music!
Someone told me recently that the founder of this group was producing music in Dayton Ohio in some studio with some fairly big name local bands......would be nice to find out what he is up to....
Ana Avila yes
Giovanni Joseph I just moved here recently to rebuild my life after spending 17 Years in Baltimore, md. I'm a writer...I would love to pen lyrics for him.
MIchael Jackson's long lost brother.
Lol, yes! I Swear he's a jackson. He also favors guy from 80s group 5star, I think his name Stedman?
Plain Dealing this video kinda seems like Most in Space from the 70s, or The Twilight Zone. Cool song though.
I was going to say the same thing Ali lol.
***** I miss those days. :)
at least he wasn't trying to sound like MJ. The System was bringing a new sound.
With all the complaints I hear over music going too digital, I say this.... groups like these guys showed u can go digital, and yet STILL know how 2 write.... #CLASSIC
1983 it's been a long time since I've seen this video!!! WOW!!! Thanks for posting...
SO STOKED I FOUND THIS SONG!!!!!
One of the greatest songs on radio in "1983".........awesome bass synthesizer's!!!!!!!
hey the 80s were the best in music
I still play this in my car!
same here
why wouldnt you its timeless
I still play it i my DJ sets... One of my all time favorite songs from the time it was released. From time heard it heading to see my cousin in Brooklyn back when it came out.
timeless music tracee
Its on my iPod!!
The Neptunes from the 80's
I don't why I think of the Neptunes when I listen to the system. Im willing to bet that the Neptunes were heavily influenced by the System.
Influenced for sure.
He had a lovely voice and I wish they had done more.
Feel good music, People today here in November 2014 only one album world wide has sold over 1 million, Tyler swift, whatever her name is, anyway across all genres around the world, she is the only artist to sell over one million, not saying she makes dark music, but in the world today we are living in the dark ages far as music is concern, music from the 80's and 90's, all genres felt good, like this song here, I just thankful I'm old enough to appreciate music from that time point. Even if I was a child of the 80's.
Totally agree with you BigRod!
you speak the absolute truth brother. Amen to that.
my brotha...the music industry is finished....it's been done for a very long time.....toast and its' the saddest thing I've ever seen.....it's all over
I've written a book about this whole situation and how the industry destroyed our brightest star....it goes into all of it...
@BiggRod I don't know where to start with your statement??? It's one of the TRUEST statements I've heard since the turn of the millennium! There will never be a time of such energy again. At this point, all I can say is... I'm HONORED to have been blessed enough to experience it as well. So much music that has imprinted on my soul from that era. It STILL feels GREAT to hear this kind of music. I have so much more to say that I'm just going to leave it at that and send out BLESSINGS to you and your loved ones. As I know if you feel this way about this kind of music, you couldn't possible be much of a disagreeable soul.
Agent Smith an MJ in the same video. Wowza!!!
The Matrix is real!!!
That’s funny!
In the early beta version of The Matrix™, it was a more symbiotic relationship
I remember I fell down the escalator in the mall at Lord & Taylor's as this shit was playing. ass was rolling and this shit was banging threw the store.
Just like aunt bunny half way down the stairs..... My shoe!😂😂😂
Just Lord bro that anecdote is funny as shit while listening to the song 😂
This made me laugh so hard. I could picture it...like an 80s movie
Just Lord oh my god that's funny bro
Mario C oh laws Jesus help me I'm fallin down the stairs me and my mustache
This is , hands down one the greatest songs ever recorded. David Frank kills the production and Mic Murphy blows the vocals out of the water. I just can't get this jam out of my system!!!
It looks like Michael Jackson had a garage sale and Mic Murphy bought his clothes and A/V equipment used in the making of Can You Feel It.
Great song. Great video. GREAT time in music history. I love The System.
lmfao!!! ah shit I fell out the chair when i read your comment!
Hahahahaha! I know I can't be the only one who sees it.
I saw your comment on my MJB video. I'm going to reply to it today. Thursday is my "channel maintenance" day. I'm going to upload a thank you video, shout you out, and reply to my comments from this week.
tiwan carr lol!!!!
i wish he would have bought some of michaels moves too
Y'all are silly! Hahahaha!
Great feel good music....i am happy to been apart of this era of sound, when music had a message and made sense. Only those who lived in this time can truely appreciate the song.
Roneesha Mitchell us youngsters can too lol
80's synth/funk goodness at some of it's finest!
this jam is truly ahead of it's time. The groove ,the synthesizers, the hook.Totally futuristic to be from 1983. Still had that soulful, funky, rhythm infected groove. Truly classic material!!!!!!!!!
i need that jacket in my life
me too!!!! My son was 3 and got one then!!! (HE DEMANDED IT).
Billy Joe Riley HELL YEAH!!!!!!
Lovin this song forever and forever because the groove is in my system!
This was MY JOINT!!!! I loved these two dudes right here!
It's hard to believe that this was over 30 years ago. Time sure flies. Seems like it was yesterday. Those were the days.
I turn 40 in a couple of hours and I am jamming to this era. Yeah son! lol
One of the best songs of the 80's
You have to admit that this was ahead of its time. True story: I was at the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, California one evening enjoying a night out good California summer weather, and was window shopping looking at some Timberland? boots. I was listening to The System - Don't Disturb This Groove on my walkman headphones and thinking to myself "what a great tune" when I turned to my right and Mic Murphy was standing next to me! I was blown away because the timing was surreal!
This song is the best! What a timeless beat! 🎶💃🎶
Frank Murphy the keyboardist was considered waaay ahead of his time, stuff he was doing with electronic music....
Curtis Thomas yes sir heart beat of the city he killed it
Curtis Thomas his name is David Frank
Was he able to work as a producer?
@@cavaleer - Yeah, he changed his name to Jam & Lewis and went on to great success! ;)
ceephaxx wait what?? 😂🤣
This is my favorite song of theirs, and it was only their first album. They were just so good right out of the box.
no not really
Its my 2nd personally, don't disturb this groove is my all time favorite from thr system
This was the B side of sweat, glad they played this one
Can’t get over how amazing this song is. True talent.
They need to play all the old school songs on the radio have a station for all. Music isn't like the way it was when I was growing up
The 80's BEST era ever
Holy shit, a PPG Waveterm! And they're making wonderful music with it too!
I said hi to him and handed him my headphones, when he put them on to hear what I was listening to he started smiling and bobbing his head. He returned my headphones to me and I told him it was a great tune. We talked music for a brief moment and parted ways. Great encounter!! Cool dude and great tune (production)!
"Romance" 2013
Omg!!! Where o where is MUSIC like this? Thank GOD for youtube!!!
I love this song! Truly one of the great R&B songs from the greatest decade on Planet Earth- the 1980's.
Funky. Electro
Ain't Nobody Can Take Away How GREAT THE 80'S WERE!!! Yes Sir!
Loved the 80s, still love rocking this song!
HIGH SCHOOL!!! WHEN MUSIC WAS MUSIC!!
Can't stop listening to this tune, love the bass line infact I like every thing of this tune...................
I work in a club in kcmo & they still play this song every Friday!!!
It's undeniable..80's music had more soul, more groove, more...just more ! It's 2022 and this still slaps, Robert Palmers version of this jam is awesome too !
Loved this song in the 80's, I still DO!!!!
I had such a crush on Mic with his fine self.
Cool song from back in the day.
I love this song, it's my favorite...
Janine James
Sounds cool.
Oo OO! Smooth synth funk. Give me back my 80s!
This is music and it too is still in my system. Takes me back to living for the weekends and songs just like this were playing until 2am. Those were the days.
The video is funny to watch but hey, it was pretty neat then.
Brings back memories of my high school youth club, happy days for sure...
yah man, me too! I was a young Marine over in Japan with plenty 'o time to dance. They col' rocked out this jam!
Ken Jones From july83 to june84 was kick it in Oknawaii. Much fun!!! Much Love!!!!
The singer was very handsome. =)
Straight from NC
Very
I'm not gay and thought same.:/
He was a cutie. ❤
This song and "don't disturb this groove"were my jams!
A tune and a half. 24 years on and it still sounds great. Thank God for the 80s.
I use to mix this back to back. no matter how many time the dance floor stayed full
"YOU ..ARE IN MY SYSTEM!" ...Those are some DEEP words, I tell ya!
I cant think of a more underrated 80s act than these guys - not just as performers but producers and songwriters
love when he makes the o sign with the fingers. this song is in my system. can't stop.
who still listening in 2017.....its only Jan. we got all year to jam the throw backs still kicking azzz 2017.
god, i miss this music!
First heard this tune in the 1980's. As a kid I was sat on the top deck of a bus travelling into Manchester City centre. A kid gets on the bus with an extremely large boogie box blasting this tune very loud. Nobody batted an eye lid. Miss those days.
Even though I'm christian, down wit the King(Christ). I love this song. Songs like I cant wait (nu shooz) & everything she wants (wham), they still jam to me. Man i love these songs. But people give glory to GOD, Jesus the creator becuz he is the reason why we have all these things.
CLASSIC SONG, I WAS A BABY WHEN THIS CAME OUT.
The Dark Knight Me too my dude, born in 83'. I tell older folks I was born before Thriller came out, Lol!
80s was far superior to the 90s music. I found the early 90s interesting then it became quickly tiring to the ear. It became more about the beats with a weak song structure on top. The 80s has a warmth of sound that has not been matched since, even though most of it was electronic. People knew their instruments and pushed the technology to its limits, the results were awesome.
without youtube, all us old-school music lovers would be lost!!!!!!!!!!!!
They were SO COOL in the 80's! Where R they now in 2018?? Dead?? I pray not?? They never disturbed my groove!
You should watch the mic Murphy interview it’s really good.
They got the fairlight in there. Wish I can get my hands on one
Sonic Boom that's is a ppg waveform digital synthesizer
Ultra funky...but, the music under the hook/chorus is what makes this a classic. It has that same feeling as the music under the "Something about the music, it got into my brain" part, in Knee Deep.
The System's two biggest hits were this and "Don't Disturb This Groove", one of the great 80's songs.
Jeff Linnane lol
Jeff Linnane you made it to the third comment with that! Congrats
djzoloft Yeah, congrats to Jeff for being obnoxious. Woohoo!
i have heard this song for bout 20+ years, but never seen a video for til now, thanks for the upload....
All the mtv promoted pop artist then michael jackson prince came in the scene
This is the song you would listen for in the clubs and try to be one of the first on the floor...because it was going to be crowded..used to love to dance to this song..still do really, cant do it like I used to, though...
This was my JAM!!!
I rarely like cover tunes but this one got me. RIP Robert Palmer and hail to The System. Great times.
ventende For your info. The System wrote it (Mic Murphy and David Franck)
and recorded it first. Palmer did the cover.
modernman Youre right. I later found out. My bad. First time I liked two versions of one track anyhow.
A keyboard, heart monitor and a killer beat = a classic jam. R.I.P. memory makers...ur gone but not forgotten. :/
Keyboard man fucking GENIUS
Great tune! There wasn't much they released, either as The System or producers for other artists, that I didn't like.
Did they produce Robert Palmer's version?
No, Rob. Palmer produced his version.
Man, I ain't heard this in soooooo long!!! I grew up in Chi-town and we played the HELL OUTTA THISS...IS A BADASS SONG!!
What can I say about the pop music from the 80's. There was so much emotion in it. Songs like this one. It would have been great for dancing, but when the chorus comes in, I can really feel it. That feeling is what I can't find in music today.
corny video for a great song...top tier vocals...the artist could not have done a better job. This song will still bring crowds to the dance floor in 2018.
This is 1983 video budget was different.
73 people have no funkyness, AT ALL!
Yep... 1983! Lol! It's time for my 30 year class reunion this year and I remember listening to this that long ago. Time sure flies.
David Frank was working on a session that evolved into a track called called "It's Passion" which was to feature a pre-stardom Madonna on vocals.[2] However, due to creative differences, Madonna bowed out. Frank then remembered Murphy and invited him work on it. The results were so impressive that Atlantic Records offered Murphy and Frank a recording deal of their own
The Storm Trooper Corridor was so damn Space Age for that time!
Yeah! That tunnel is a public space connecting two office buildings in lower Manhattan... Long before Instagram everyone took pics there...
Who's listening to this in 2016?
me
timeless music first heard in early eighties still tight and right when someone gets into our system its a rap great music
I still love it!
2017
Robert Palmer version is better also
my man mike murphy saw him 116st and first ave in spanish harlem in 2003,we had a 10 minute conversation what a cool guy, down to earth, peace bro!
The good old days, this jam brings back a lot of memories.
Mic Murphy was fine as hell...
IKR reminded me of MJ during those times
Chyna Boo Yeah, girl. He had a MJ-esque look. Very reminiscent of MJ. He couldn't dance worth a lick, but he was fine.
LMFAO ikr
Whew! Girl, I'm glad it wasn't just me thinking that.
Too funny.
I learned a week ago that Robert Palmer was bold enough to do a cover to this...
I've got this track in my record collection as well as all the favourite tracks from the 80s and I'll never get rid of them I'm gonna keep them forever some of them are very rare now keep the faith everyone.
Good hit jam from the past.
this song is the shit
#THESYSTEM
*YOU ARE IN MY SYSTEM*
Miss those days .
This song brings back my teen years:)
My teenage lover days💋
