I was in my 20's not a care, not thinking about the days of tomorrow. Those tomorrow days sure have caught up, quicker than I'd like. Still have the great tunes of yesterday though. Today's music doesn't even compare. Thank you RUclips for keeping these classics alive.👍
The cover girls, lizette Melendez, safire, judy torres, little suzy, sweet sensation, corina, and a whole lot of Puerto Rican Male and female Latin singers give credit where is due.we Puerto Ricans came out with this genre as always history is always misplaced, just like disco the Puerto Ricans at the forefront and guess what misplace,so don't getting wrong I so it all and heard it all this part of music is all Puerto Ricans in the NYC 70s to 90s we rule the airways. So get it right.
Let's be honest, the big 80s hair and high rising 80s jeans are hot. The stage is lit like a heavy metal concert. The freestyle beats have a huge Latin feel to them. The whole thing has age far better than most of its contemporaries. Sweet Sensation were really amazing.
*1988* The year that all the music I liked would eventually be known as Freestyle. I remember listening to 96.3 fm B96 in Chicago all the time in 1988-1989. They played music like Sweet Sensation Sincerely Yours, Cover Girls Show Me, Expose, Pajama Party, Seduction, SaFire and more every day, in heavy rotation. Those were the times. Freestyle Forever!
Good luck getting them inducted. Eddie Money(RIP) has yet to be inducted. I don't think Debbie Gibson as been nominated for induction as far as I know. She's eligible now since her first album was released in 1987, 37 years ago.
I worked with a radio station who hosted this group.. I was lucky enough to be their driver on the eve of their show in my city. They were super cool, warm and delightful.
Man, I had forgotten all about this song. I am 36 now,...but, This was THE JAM back in the day........ I only have one other thing to say........ 80's ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, and COMPLETELY R O C K S !!!!!!!!
One of the best "Freestyle Hits" of the 80's, absolutely loved this one but their entire debut CD was pretty rockin' & these gals were HOT!! Thanks for posting
When music meant much more!! It moved you physically as well as emotionally.THERE WAS SO MUCH OF THIS,BACK IN THE DAY.Shame it didn't continue. At least we have people like Day Dreamer on the web to help jog our memories.Thanx much for the Upload !!!!
These ladies are so beautiful! I love the beautiful blend of bloodlines Latinas show. I fell in love with Spanish class after our profesor showed us the Miss Venezuela pageant.
Marie and Margie were my neighbors when I was growing up in Lower East Side, Manhattan. If you all do not know by now, these ladies are back together and hitting the road. facebook.com/NYSweetSensation
Wooo. Mid 80s me and my brothers frank and ferny .hanging at walker park hialeah MIAMI FLORIDA ..gang banging thinking we were tough in front of our friends ..and our girlfriends were jamming this song ..we had no choice but to sing along with them 😁😁
Still Pump This In The Car and Peeps At Stoplight Are Like...HEY THAT WAS THE JAM!! This Still Packs The Dance Floor Today. Gotta Luv 80's Freestyle Party's
told my kids this morning that when i was in JR high this was the ish, they looked at me and asked what is JR high (sigh) those were the days, grateful that I got to experience em
Elementary school days. Our bus driver used to play the Freestyle / Pop station every morning on the way to school. Great memories. Sincerely Yours and Hooked on You are two of my favorites.
My daughter asked me if this is Hip Hop. I told her it's called 'Freestyle' that it was really popular in Miami, NYC and where we're from in the LA area in the 80s to 90s. It's one of her Mother's favorite style of music. Pretty Tony, Trinere, Connie, Stevie B, Shannon, and even Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam. Sweet Sensation, Debbie Deb, Taylor Dane to name a few. She started to listen to this music because of Taylor Dane's song 'Tell it to my Heart' on the Cheetos commercial . She is my youngest child (13). She is a blessing, My wife and I have two other children age 28 and 26! For someone so young, she likes a lot of older music (her parent's)... My wife and my cd collection went from boxes in the garage to arranged in shelves we bought at the Container Store in her room. Hahaha. I hate to run on but my cousin is a former club DJ for places called the Mayan Theater in Los Angeles, Florentine Gardens in Hollywood (now closed) and CJ Barrymore's in Torrance (gone) in the late 80s to late 90s (he's a accountant now, hahaha) and he made several flash drives of this music from his actual vinyl collection for my daughter for her 14th birthday coming up (shhhh, it's a secret). My daughter says it's better than the crap her sister listens too. Hahaha. My other daughter (26) likes Selena Gomez, Arianna Grande, Miley Cyrus etc, etc. I don't know if my oldest girl's music is crap but the baby thinks so, Hahahaha.
Once I heard this song it instantly brought back great memories of college back in Kalamazoo Michigan. I knew the year w/o even looking it up. Thanks for posting!
Good times! Remember being in elementary school and listening to this one the radio thinking of my crush i had at school. 5th or 6th grade. lol my crush at that time was John Dean. No1 B4Me ya the meaning is empty and shallow for me it offers no satisfaction that music can provide such is that over whelming feeling all over your body like a lite tingling that is building up to an exspolsion of pleasure you cannot describe with a total sense of satisfaction almost like you were synced or paired to the. composeer exsperiencing that same feeling connecting all levels of thought possible in tune with the minds one with the song

There will never be an eta lime the 80s and the music whether it was from slow jams to rock to pop to heavy metal to nu wave to hi energy. This music doesn't seem to go out of style.

This song still pumping after 30 years..classic.
The 80's were the best. I wish I could go back. Life was so easy. No stress, no drama. Best music EVER! !!!
Maybe for those of us who were in our teens/20's during the 1980's. For the older generation, probably a different story.
Eighties and early 90's was absolutely the golden age of female groups...Seduction, Expose, The Jets, Sweet Sensation, Bangle's, En Vouge...on and on!
Hugh Janus Technically the Jets were a co-ed family group. But Moana was my favorite! Eugene and the guys held their own though. :)
I so agree!! Fun times back then!
now there's this stripper bitch who thinks she can sing...

106.1 FM WEGX Philadelphia. EAGLE 106.
I wish groups like this would be inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame. I mean the era was short lived but the music will live on forever.

Amazing the number of Latina singers back then. Surely the reason the music was so passionate.
Latin flavored dance music out of the Bronx with a real hook, still sounding great today!
I worked with a radio station who hosted this group.. I was lucky enough to be their driver on the eve of their show in my city. They were super cool, warm and delightful.

Them and Shannon - Give Me Tonight. They'd bring the club dance floors to pandemonium. Haven't heard this one in 2 decades maybe. That was fun.
So true
God how I miss the 80's. Music like this will never exist anymore. However, these songs will forever live on.

Freaking Amazing. This is real music, back when music had meaning!!! Unlike the CRAP they call music you hear nowadays.
This song brings back memories of clubbing in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The rap/dance music was not gangster rock that it is today!!
Wow Highschool memories, who go chills. Always loved her voice 🥰
I was in high school in the 80s and my boys were DJs. We knew both sides of these 12" albums. Mixed them all. It was so much fun. Man I miss it.
