We haven't had it for long enough to really test longevity, but it's a 3 layer jacket so in theory it ought to last longer than the typical 2 layer DWR-coated rain jacket.
PFC is a tech from the 50-60s and there has been a lot of advancement and thus there are alternatives that have less impact on the environment. Using pFCs today is due to political and financial reasons. Not because there isn’t a better way.
I don't know enough about the chemistry to know how hard it is to find or use alternatives. But I do believe in voting with our wallets if we want them gone.
The new DWR Patagonia is using I noticed doesn’t just shake water off like my older Patagonia jacket did. With that said though.. the face fabric doesn’t wet out or get heavy even though it looks like it is. 2024 is a good year to buy a rain jacket. H2NO is great stuff.
Are the arms long enough to cover the wrist when biking?

That'll depend on you build and your position on the bike of course, but I'd say it's a pretty good cut for biking.
For how long the jacket will be waterproof? My issue is that after a year they become unusuable and rain goes through.
