I think you're right, Nick, generational conditions and human nature tend to guide a civilization's path while an individual's choices tend to guide their own life. WhatifAltHist forgets that
Thanks for your balanced approach toward the topic, and for a thoughtful discussion! If I am paraphrasing correctly, I appreciated how you said, "I agree with a lot of what WhatIfAltHist is saying, but I come at it from a different angle." This is exactly the type of healthy discussion that allows folks to healthily evaluate their own opinions - thanks again! 😊
While I do mostly agree with a lot of AltHist's boomer video points, one aspect I really don't like in these "boomer analysis" videos, is that these people put themselves into a pedestal that they themselves wouldn't dip into the supposedly great privileges boomers had, and instead would totally invest into the future generation unlike the "other" boomers.
Boomers benefitted from the lack of competition due to many men having been killed in WWII. I saw a few of my mates with nose picking normie parents who got rich with uninspiring businesses which probably never even saw a business plan. Low population density = more opportunity. I'm not sure why this is exactly but I've noticed you never seem to see venal poverty in places with less people: Sweden/Norway/NZ/Aus?

Nick > WhatifAltHist
It's hard to underestimate the consequences of regulatory-protectionism plus globalization.
You have good persepective. I listened to a whole podcast WhatifAltHist did and he missed the mark on almost every single point he made.
Thanks

Low birth rates means millennials/Gen Z kids will have the same opportunities
@@AFNick Yes, it's happening :)
