@@kakoroto1 i was 10 brings back memories wasnt in the area in 85 but remember the bus types well and cars also note people dont even have a phone in their hand lol
A glorious sunny Saturday. A thriving town centre, miners back at work with brass in their pockets and big name shops galore to spend it all in, even down the side streets . Contrast that to the midden that the place is now. So sad. Ooh, something else. Did you notice, despite how busy it was, the traffic just flowed. Never once in any kind of traffic jam.
This was filmed with a shoulder mounted video camera. This was on a tripod, fastened to the back of the front seat. The camera lens would be around passenger head level. with a portable VHS video on the seat. Then to clear the dash, zoomed in a bit. Which made things look a lot nearer than they were. The video gear used was around £1200, which was more than the car cost.
Could you imagine how much this dash cam would of cost and how big it must of been to be in a car in the 1980's LOL. Video cameras for people were really only available for the rich in late 80's early 90's and could only record 30 minutes some even less than that.

Same here. Still like the old cars, vans, & lorries especially the Fords.
The old shops, & the music too.
These vids are a great reminder of me being a very small boy. The cars, buses, clothes, shops etc....

I was 11 and in school in Cas / Fev, I can't believe I didn't notice how many vintage cars were driving around.
Ahh brings back memories here. I was around 15 and remember a lot of Cas being like this. Back in the 80 s, the good old days.
the blue car with the earthing strips hanging from back... I'd forgotten all about those strips to remove static.
What I’d give for these days back. Cas town centre has deteriorated so much since these days

Just seen my old car parked opposite Collisions and stelling (i worked at Geoff Simpson's back then)
I see the pedestrians didn't take any notice of the pelican crossing lights at the top of Bank Street even back then.
Ha ha , I thought the same thing , somethings never change

Should of kept old market indoors and out
You could do a before and after video :-)
'Police Academy 2' and 'A view To A Kill' on at the Cannon, can't read the other one.
Back to the future was about to come out, back when cinema was good!
Nothing changed except the loss of a great outdoor market at the bottom of town
Driver was going too fast for the busy conditions with all those pedestrians lol.
Was the first song playing in the car T.Rex as well?
yes, Hot Love

Hahahaha, INVACAR!
No excuse nowadays.
But back then, they had only just got rid of the old zebra crossings.
As part of the pedestrianization, of Carlton Street.
when every other car is a ford
Including the camera car.
