- From The Disneyland Anniversary 35th Special...
Woody Boyd recalls his first visit to Disneyland, believing it was opening day despite the fact that there are always parades, fireworks, and Mickey-Mouse Balloons at the park. He mentions something about finding his "True Love" in the Dark Corridors of the Haunted Mansion, and thus, we are thrust back in time where a young 10-year-old Woody is unwillingly forced into the attraction by his two friends...
The two kids leave Woody to ride alone after he lies and remarks that he's "Not Chicken". Just as he begins to turn back, he meets a girl who says she will ride with him...
As the ride comes to an end, we find out that the girl might be nothing more then a "Silly Spook" whom Woody develops a crush on...
Amazing Stock Footage of the Portrait Hall, Ballroom, Pop-Ups, Blast-Ups, and Graveyard, along with extremely rare footage of the Beating Heart Bride, this vintage video is one of the BEST when it comes to The Haunted Mansion. I'd say it's better then the goofy Osmond's special video myself. An the soundtrack is amazing too; comparable on the par of "The Story & Song LP" when it comes to missing demo SFX and extra underscore music cues.
Staring Brandon Maciel as young Woody and Erinn Canavan as the young Girl.
That haunted Mansion Girl was my first Crush. Every time I went on the haunted mansion i would hope id see that girl
i cant remember if she was my first crush, but i was around that age and she was the one thing i remembered from this special
The Haunted Mansion is my favorite ride.
And about half the cast of Cheers have appeared in Disney movies by now
Ride through videos before it was cool.
Erinn Canavan was my first celeb crush. And I even wrote her a fan letter. The first and only fan letter I did send to any celeb. ofc I did not know how to reach her so I mailed it to Disney, Orlando Florida from Norway. I never got a respons hehe. This was in 1990. Tried for a long time to find this movie again. Nice to see it.
I was working on the West Side when this was filmed. At the time I was still a new ride operator, and only trained on Mansion and Bear Band, so I got stuck working Splash guest control because the ride was shut down for two days to do this short sketch. The special was directed by John Landis (Blues Brothers, Animal House). I saw him again a few years ago, and I was telling him about what it was like to be an Attractions cast member when it seemed most of the rides were either closed due to rehab or shut down to film this, plus Splash was still very new (it was December of '89), and was still breaking down 8 times a day. Landis was actually pretty funny in his reminiscing, so it was a great convo. I just want to smack Charles Fleischer - none of our CMs (not even Maynard, who was *not* a favorite) was *that* over the top. This is also when Facilities refused to sync the changing portraits to the lightning in the opposing windows the way it had been originally done. I had to loan a video tape of the Wonderful World of Disney to one of the Leads showing the ride opening year with the effects synchronized on both sides of the hallway - and he presented it as proof to Facilities. They tried to claim it *never* looked like that. This is just bringing back so many happy memories of working in the Mansion, and it's a pity that the real CMs weren't seen working in the background. Thanks for uploading the video.
I used to be very afraid of the haunted mansion now I am n love with it. but I am still very afraid of snow white scary adventure lol
Thanks for uploading this! I haven’t seen this broadcast in over 30 years. I was first introduced to the haunted mansion ride through this. I went there in April of 1990. 😊
4:36 Wouldn't that coffin animatronic be cool to have on Halloween? Can't you imagine someone ringing the doorbell, and when the door opens, that's what they'd see inside?
I really don't think I'd care to have that in my living room at *any* time of the year.
Damn. That bride looks awesome. Way better than the current one.
yeah, it was meant to be a creepier horror part, the new on os a lot more cartoony. it gave the ride more variety
walt Disney wanted everything to be clean and nice.
I have this...on one of Extinct Attraction Club's Haunted Mansion DVDs (regrettably,no longer available).
Remember this when I was a child.
this ride has change so much throughout the yrs
Cool! I'd seen this before, but didn't know it was from Cheers. What's up with him creepily rubbing the ribbon at the end, though?
That was the tv special for the 35th anniversary opening scene. The special aired on NBC, so of course they were plugging one of their own series. The ribbon - probably a reference to a gesture that was seen as romantic and more common in earlier centuries. The kid just didn't pull it off very well.
It's the guy who voiced Roger Rabbit...I forget his name.
Charles Fleischer.
@AnimePRFury No. It was Charles Fleischer, who was the voice of Roger Rabbit.
I knew she was a ghost
The plot is so predicrable, you can see right through it
One of the best ride through vids I've seen, actually.
TOO...MANY...PUNS!!!
+Haunted Amusement! Even good ones
this is actually super adorable!
Beautiful story
Disneyland the haunted mansion and pirates of the Caribbean so creepy house
That twist was so cheesey
4:20 🎶 Very Superstitious🎶
love the music thumbs if you were there when it happened
Was that the voice actor for Roger Rabbit @ 3:04??!! 😮😁
Indeeed
I have been looking for this for years, thanks.
I was just like that boy. I used to be scared of the Haunted Mansion but now I love it and is one of my favorite rides. 😊👍
4:05 That guy is waaay too much into his role :D
Can I just say the fact that Woody Harrelson is in this video?! He’s like one of my favorite actors!!
6:25 The singing busts are my favorite part of the ride (though, I've only ridden the one at Walt Disney World in Florida). That being said, is it just me or does it look like one of the bust's faces (Ned Nub, second bust in from the right) look to small for the head?
@nicktheghosthost999
Thank you so much!
was that Cast Member Maynard?
this is awesome, this girl cracks me up!
Thats not a CM but Charles Fleischer, actor extraordinaire and voice of Roger Rabbit
i used to b scary of this ride as a kid now I just love it but I am scared of the snow white ride n I don't that on e n I am 36
6:05 - That or an improved Hatbox ghost should be in the attic now.
yes disneyland is always a magical place indeed!
This is far from HD Quality. Why did you add the watermark, and stretch the image?
I wish always be some nice at the Disney
mansion at this day
Ohhhh Woody Boyd is a character played by Woody Harrelson - I was like, DUDE they look identical! Are they brothers or something?
2:41 2:50 3:15 4:09 4:28 5:55 6:30
4:15 How would anyone here like to be inside The Haunted Mansion (either at Disneyland or at Disney World) all alone and hear a voice calling for you at the other end of the endless hallway? Would you follow?
Justin Blystone No for two reasons. One, I’m not following any god damn voice that’s calling my name from inside a dark ride. Second, you can only walk about 15 feet deep into the endless hallway until you would bump into a scrim.
this virus thing is just a sad mess my bday was march 31st n every yr my bad is at Disneyland n this the 1st bday 2020 it was not at Disneyland due to the closures. smh. hope for a summertime bday.
4:28 Where did that came from in the hallway? I know that thing came from the attic and the graveyard.

Anyone else recognize the little girl with Woody? She was the mute puzzle solving patient from 'Hellraiser 2'...;)
Her Name is Ashley Laurence
