I'm underage and the only whiskey I've ever had was a sip of JD a year ago, no idea why I watch this.

There is nothing wrong with having an interest in whisky. It doesn't really matter what age you are. The problems occur with alcohol when people start to drink too much of it.

Daniel's initial nosing was simply "It doesn't have a lot of butterscotch." How insightful lol.

I tried Talisker and loved it. Trying to find my own bottle but no liquor stores in my area carry anything like this. How can I attain other types of Scotch besides the same old Glenfidich?

Managed to snag a bottle of this on the US Air Force Base here in England for 70 US. Thinking about clearing them out before they catch on they're underselling haha. Can't wait to crack it open.

were can i get those little sample bottles. Is there a website to order from. As I have gotten older I’ve come to appreciate the taste of finer whiskey and beers. And there are a lot of whiskies and liquors to try, I don’t always want to buy a whole bottle just to try it out. great video.

I started my scotch journey with speyside single malts and blends. So I really enjoy them. I also love Islay and Highland scotch. I only drink an ounce or two from time to time, only neat, because I want to appreciate the spirit. In other words, I never drink to get drunk. So my advice to anyone interested in learning about whisky is to drink for the appreciation and craftsmanship of a spirit aged for many years in oak. It's not a drink you should order for shots or to down quickly and aggressively.

I picked up a bottle of this today and just having my first sips of it. Now, I am a very amateur whisky drinker (only 1.5yrs into the adventures of scotch) so obviously, my nose and pallet can't distinctify all the notes... good call on the water though. Definitely found some more flavors eventhough I don't know what the hell they are
My question is, my understanding was that the major 3 types are Islay, Highland and Speyside. What I noticed on this particular bottle is that it says distilled in speyside but has a big "highland single malt" on the label. So... what's that about? Maybe I'm missing something in the distinctions or what makes a scotch from a certain region but this confused me

The Daniel dad drinking rule is 100% spot on. Even whisk[e]y on ice leads me down a dark, evil path.

Sweet jumpin' Jehoshaphat, adding water made it go from tame to tiger-attack! Thanks for bridging the average-Joe to drinking with intention.

I don't know what kind of Long Island Ice Tea they serve in Austin, but if mine doesn't make me twitch because of the high alcohol content just a bit I'm sending it back.

Do you have recommendations for Whiskys (scotch) when I am on a tight budget? I prefer smokey andy peaty ones, but as a student I can't afford the ones I would love to taste...

    • @WhiskeyVault
      @WhiskeyVault  7 лет назад +6

Don't be afraid of the blends. They can be amazing. Just focus on the blends that have Islay whisky in them. Like Johnnie Double Black and Black Bottle. Another option, if you can find it is the McClelland series. It's a line of 3 yr old single malts that pull from distilleries from each of the 5 regions. Their Islay used to be 3 yr old Bowmore. Not sure what it is now, but it's around $20.

Ha. Well put. I now have a narrative for why I like the melt your eyebrows, peaty Islay's over the pretty ones. Although I am a sucker for a nice strong Manhattan.

Hi there! I really startet enjoying your Videos! You are a really likeable dude :) With this one I have to say you didn't take enough time. Instead of adding water you could have just gave it 5,10 or 15 min. I just got Glengoyne 21 the other day and it is similar in that way. Both quite complex. Allthough different in taste of course! :] And just within couple minutes in the glas you will not be able get the full bandwith. I guess you can add water and get somewhat of a similar result. There are of course many different ways to go about it. For me adding water is also a part of getting to know the whisky. But i would never rush through it and always give it some time first. Greetings from Germany

True! All Sherry all the time. Which makes the heavy vanilla on the 12 yr even more surprising.

Dan, it's a whiskey That s too good to be true? You sound like your in secret love with speyside. Haha. Glennfiddich 14 (blue) has some complexity and I think that is a speyside.

The only reason Long Island Ice Tea was invented was so the bartender can show off by pouring four bottles at the same time.
