I would say at the beginning levels they should turn at night. We could have a story reason be that they don't have full control of that ability but at later levels they gain more and more control until they gain full control.
Question is, do they always look like gargoyles? Or can they be angels, animals, or dead leaders/national heroes. Imagine one hiding as a kings statue and the wings for a sort of cape/robe.
Actually as long as they parte of a building the sky is the límite, imagine an artdeco gargoyle from Eberron, or a gargoyle from elves cities, why not one from a orkish temple??
I know this was a year ago but meh, historically gargoyles we're actually good beings who protected the buildings they perched upon, but similar to biblically accurate angels they were terrifying to look at so over the course of their history people started to demonize them.
I could sort of imagine it being something where due to adapting to the architectural style they might look similar to other nearby statues but not exact. Like their horns turn into a crown but it’s always sort of uneven and monstrous looking and their wings shift to look like a cloak but still with those sharp edges and wing-like patterns
Hm gargoyle nice addition to my beastmen party well if i give gargoyle berserker role that would be best bc its only attack with his hands and relly on speed and strength that would be nice but i think will it even be able to beat a cadaver collector i think I'll have to make it strong and upto level 15 to have a fight with a cadaver
More on the obscure side, but would love to see a video on the Xixchil from Spelljammer! They're a neat race that desperately needs more love + would be super coo to see how you wind up drawing one.
@@Rookzer0 Space mantis' obsessed with surgery and body modding, yea! Also have a more mantid body shape compared to the more humanoid thri-kreen. But yea, fair, did just do an insectoid one recently!
Gargoyles as a homebrew should be weak to bludgeoning since if you hit stone hard enough it should shatter but stone is stronger than bones perhaps a con roll is in order. I don't how this would work.
Here’s my mindset about gargoyles so gargoyles I think we’re ones human the reason why is because they have communication skills and understand some base level of knowledge that I think only human or another race could understand that is in the higher intelligence But I also think it could just be a human soul inside a stone hide, baby, like earth elemental find out when during humans soul you become a gargoyle
If I'd had to play a gargoyle I'd like to play a weeping angel variant from doctor who, or some kind of other angelic statue whether biblically accurate or otherwise. Gargoyles are cool and I've only seen them used in D&D once in B4 The Lost City, and I loved using them against my players
@@Rookzer0 Been curious how I would run one for a little bit, probably brought on by ur videos. None of my player have asked to play anything our of the ordinary yet tho. Besides Seto Kaiba lol
Should Gargoyles Turn into stone at night or at will?

As a player race it should be at will
I thought they turned to stone at dawn like trolls?
I like the idea of them just being made of stone, just animated
At will. And I so want to play more monsters like that lol.
Am I the only one who didn’t know this was a dnd playable race?
I love Rooks mispronunciation of words. It's so fun.
I want to be authentic in my flubs but there are also a lot I remove.
@@Rookzer0 aye. But it's still neat you leave some in :) makes it seem more personal and less sterile.

Hrmmm yeah mYbe they could grow a crown or something if given enough time

Omg yes can’t wait to watch this so excited 😁

Arnt those the mantis people? Could be fun to draw space bugs but we did just do the theikreen so it should probbably wait a bit

With this race crazy eyes Cortez doesn't stand a chance! 😀
nice video and drawing
You should look into playable Gargoyles for RIFTS/Palladium Fantasy Roleplay.

Do you take suggestions/requests for these? If so, maybe half dragons?
I would go for DragonBall video but yeah half dragons are pretty great and definitely not dragonborn.
Did you know gargoyles lay eggs
I did not...
Yea the mates stay together til a egg is produced and then they find a layer and turn to stone til it hatches
I mean... they DO preserve freshness xP
Since they are immune to time while frozen.
Don't have issue with Bronx! He's much better person as Chihuahua!

would you stick hard to the not being able to move while observed? could be interesting to just be a statue carried around by the party.
Have u ever had a Sahuagin pc in a game??
Actually no, that could be a lot of fun.

Even though this be my character being drawn, and I have his character sheet.... I wanna make ANOTHER ONE
