I just wanna say, the way you present things is done very well. You're rambling on about a niche ttrpg race that interests you and it doesn't get boring listening. I don't wanna go analytical, so just know you're doing great 👍
Also, on a side note, I always forget how weird yo kai can be. Like anything from a giant skeleton made up of many skeletons from people who died on the battlefield and it now patrols the night to eat people, to a greasy monster man that sneaks around at night to lick your bathrooms because it likes the grossness and hair, and then like an umbrella that’s been around for like 1,000 years
Funny you should say that, my D&D group just started a Pathfinder 2E campaign last month and my first ever PF character is a Kitsune gunslinger. In the last session I used my "turn into fox" power for the first time trying to get tossed up onto a high ledge so I could change back and lower a rope for the rest of the party. The fighter promptly threw me head-first into a cave wall and I fell into the knee-deep water we were all standing in. So that was fun.
@@Rookzer0 He does dress like a highwayman/faux nobleman (his backstory is he's lowborn but wants desperately to be a noble) so that kind of hat would fit his aesthetic.
As far as true sight. The way we did it in my campaign was that someone who passed a check with truesight or certain things would see the foxlike features overlaid as blue flames over the kitsunes body, and some people with high enough perception would be able to tell by the eyes that they weren’t a normal human
Great video! Honestly, quite a few yo kai can work for a pc. You can do a kappa or a tanuki. Or, if you’re playing an evil campaign, you can use an oni or a jorogumo. Personally, I want to make a character that is a Kasa-obake, that weird loving umbrella with one eye and a wacky tongue. That sounds like it’ll be fun
People need to properly label if they're talking about pathfinder 1e or 2e. They are not compatible at all. I'm so sick of people bringing 2e stuff to my table when I specifically told them we're playing 1e.
I adapted a kitsune for 5E because they’re both my favorite mythological creature and my favorite pathfinder race. They’re very…unique for arcane tricksters
This reminds me of an old character idea. A bat-eared fox, heavily inspired by african tribes, ancestral guardian barbarian. A great hunter and fighter but is more dex focused and was given a name that translate to blood birth as his village believe that he claimed his mother's life after the birth.
So, what you mean is, that the Disguise is more of a Mask like with Changeling, but as...one instead of a lot? Sounds like a awsome idea! And, I will take the Shapeshifter Feat (forgot the name) for it anyways. (The one, where you can mimic other peoples look from first decision)
Made a pretty basic Kitsune fighter when I played my only game of Pathfinder. -2 Str be damned he still had a 16 after that took effect (Farmboy strength I guess). Guy was an orphan raised by the captain of the militia of a small town. Since he wasn't rased anywhere around other Kitsunes so he didn't learn how to do the whole shapeshifting thing untill a good bit into his adventure. So he was stuck un humanoid form for most if his life. He still basically never did it. Took till almost the end for the rest of the party to note the pun in his name and personality. Toby Honest (To be honest) and he stuck in one form to be honest about himself.
To clarify the bonus to disguise: You not only get a +10 racial bonus, but you also get another +10 bonus for it being a Polymorph spell. You start with a +20 to disguise, not 10, so it's REALLY hard to tell what you really are.
@@Rookzer0 Thanks, though it isn't like it's a secret or a cheat or anything that needs "permission" to be allowed, lol. It's flat-out written in the Pathfinder Transmutation School rules, beneath which is Subschools: Polymorph. Any Polymorph spell inherently gains a +10 (untyped) bonus to disguise, on top of whatever your normal skill is. Kitsune adds an additional +10 *Racial* Bonus, so at Level 1, if you have even a half-decent Cha of 12, and it's a Class skill with a rank in it, you have a +25 to Disguise. Even if you roll a Nat 1, they'd need a 26 Perception Check to tell there's something odd about you to make a knowledge check. Kitsune in Pathfinder are supposed to be quite difficult to tell what they are unless they WANT you to know. It's supposed to be a BIG hint to the player if the GM goes, "You get the feeling that [insert name] has an idea of your true nature..." that the NPC is higher-level than you might think. How fur will you go to purrotect your secret? :p
Many like races like dwarves, elves, humans and others but I always preferred races like gnolls, minotaurs, werewolves for being more different, magical and unique. They have much less human elements and therefore less worldly.
If 20 people say Vegipigmi Fox I'll draw on friday. Comment below,
Question, do you think a Kitsune could work as a Oath Of Ancients Paladin??? I know it’s a reach but I’ve been really curious

Thank you, I'm glad to hear you're enjoying them.
Either way, I believe the “Monk” class is the best class for Kitsune in an anime or manga campaign.

Yeah I'd definitely allow people to play one as a kitsune base. But that might be it's own video
I appreciate your artwork and how you put things. Totally am going to use some of this. Also, LONGBOY!

Kitsune gunslingers are really fun. they need a good hat but fox noes and feather hats always go together.

That love death robot ep messed me up, and I wants all those english mens head on my wall
Yeah it was a rough one.
Love this idea. And also, a perfectly appropriate number of horny jokes were made. Lol.
thank you thank you
lol I've actually got a reflavored Kitsune "race" playable in a TTRPG that I've been designing and Im loving this vid bro!!! ';..;'
Awesome I'd love to see it some time.
Remember to turn down your volume as the premier is super loud. @youtube Get your act together.

*living, sorry, big thumbs
A living umbrella could be really funy yokai or not.
Also this whole video works for coyote trickster spirits too~
oooh that's a good idea.
What does your Fox Spirit look like?
Just seeing a Pathfinder 1E stat block in this day and age makes me unfathomably happy. :')
Same. I still love my advanced race guide.

Ah, this makes me think of the person in the Phandelver campaign I'm in, she went with the cute anime girl with fox ears but like very feral.
Very legit way to play. I've seen it many times :)

Bat ears are always a good choice

At least in 5e I think Faerie Fire is a pretty solid spell. Advantage for everyone is pretty nice.
Yeah it's a good one. I've see quite a few clever uses
I learned about Kitsune from this video :)
What are your opinions on a Beastkin Kitsune?
Hrmmm at that point your missing out on the sweet magic stuff. But if its a solid option to start designing one.
