- In this video, I mess around with the new addons in Garry's Mod 2 I mean S&box. S&box is a game created by Facepunch which is also created by Garry Newman.

I have a question: I have a sd card on my notebook ,with a ISO of a game in It. What happens if I mount it with daemont and install the game in the sd card?
Should clarify a few things about the HL2 Weapons.
1. The models were borrowed from MMOD with permission from the original creators.
2. I THINK the grenade damages you when thrown because the hitboxes are fucky. I'll try to fix that.
3. No clue why you can't use the energy balls. I'll fix that soon too.
If ya have any recommendations for me I'd love to hear them!
I thought they were great. Definitely fix the crossbow zoom. The view model still shows up when you zoom in with the crossbow.
one thing garrys mod missed, was spawn points for enemys that could have a timer for multiplying/varing enemys, you say- you want a hoard mode with the shoddy base of planks you made, put down 2 spawners...zambis appear, then after 30seconds, 4 spawn, then 8, then 12 from each spawner, all varing units. could make for an interesting play, as i allways spawned a bunch of bugs and sort of shot the hell out of them...like starship troopers... my thought for the tool name "o lordy hoardy spawnie ".

Are you the dev who ported/made them? It was a good enough job. I'm not sure how much time you've spent or ported them but they do need a little bit of more polishing, they seem very off than the originals. It would also be cool if you could animate the player's hands to the actual guns too. Good luck I hope you have a good day.
I like how Garry started this project talking about how much he hated GMod and wished it would die out, then when S&box was about to become a financial disaster, suddenly he loves GMod again.
He's done that multiple times with Garry's Mod.

this was when it was still on UE4 though and I think they were just trying to steer people away from the idea of it being garrysmod 2 (which it ended up being anyway cos that's what people actually want)
@@legendofrobbo They're saying that mostly because they want to avoid being a mod for half-life, and have the base game be its own thing.
But design-wise, it is a Gmod sequel. No question about it. It even works pretty similarly behind the scenes, on more than just a "this is still Source engine" level.
The UE4 version was even more of a straight Gmod clone tbh, so that should be telling.

Hopefully it’ll support Steam Workshop if it ever releases. That way the models will be easy to ignore.

they already replaced them, they now have realistic player models as an option that look like normal humans

Im still not sure about the success of this game. Its missing something that gmod has, they didnt stick to half life-ish theme for the base game and im pretty sure thats where the issues start. Its also probably because Half life Alyx isnt made for PC gaming and the ai is very limited.
Gmod always felt like people were working around limitations which gave the game a sort of charm I guess? Like if you saw some complex addon you knew someone went to a lot of effort to get it working.
@@zombieoutbreakprod This is exactly it. We were building upon the engine that ran Half life 2 and made it into a magnificent sandbox. I personally like the unpolished look of gmod, it gives it a certain personality.

@@jeffboy4231 I'm not sure if this really is going to work out though. S&box will ultimately be associated with GMod, regardless of what the devs intended. The major dislike for the default playermodel is just one sign of this and I can guarantee that if playermodels can be customized (which I hope will be the case), a very small fraction would use or rely on the default playermodel and instead resort to use HL2 playermodels. I agree with OP. I feel like the game actually seems to struggle between "be like GMod but better" and "let's be individual and do our own thing".

They didn't want to publicize it too much for this exact reason, feeling rushed by the demand. The only reason it's even in closed beta right now is so that it doesn't launch with an empty workshop.
At the rate they're going, it might be ready to go into beta by the end of _next_ year.

About the character & the state of the game :
You can port any character that you want into the game. S&box is like a game engine, you create the game you want, with the artstyle you want. The sandbox gamemode and the game itself are still in development.

@@del.1356 Is it actually confirmed that you can customize the playermodel? I haven't seen in any of the videos of ppl that have this game attempt this or download such a mod. My doubts are getting bigger and I really hope the artist behind the playermodel still isn't this entitled and overprotective about the playermodel than he was when he wrote that stupid article a while ago. Allow customizability of the playermodel. That's all I want at least if it's already hard for them to give up their default playermodel.
@@guccifer7874 If you mean changing the character, you can already do it. (Gamemode like Team Forteress Source 2 has already custom playermodel)
Even, if you create a gamemode with it, you can use any cloth that you want, you are not obliged to use those chosen by the player. You can even create your own cloth.
If there's a ability to import add-ons from gmod to s&box, god that would be so good

People seriously have no chill lol. I can't believe anyone actually thought the game wasn't gonna have addons, they literally said multiple times that they were just finishing the gamemode system first. Like, dude, the game isn't even _public_ yet and people are expecting everything to be finished and tied up in a bow.
I swear everyone's just itching for games to play, it's been a long dry-run for the past couple of years of releases IMO. A new title from a beloved developer, yet it's juuuust out of reach.

In my opinion, I still like GMod better, but I am still excited for what this game has to offer in the future.
Kind of unrelated, but I watched this with headphones and I'm blown away with how precise the physics audio projection is in S&Box.
Can't wait to play this if it ever comes out!

So far I can't see any good reason to want to play this over gmod. Sure, the engine seems drastically improved, but I fail to see how it has improved on anything thus far.

I've played S&box and watched it's development for a long time, it isn't gonna replace or outshine Garry's Mod. It doesn't have the soul Gmod does, it lacks something I can't put my finger on.
I'm unironically more excited for them to add scripting to JBMod lol.
Things they should change:
Make the models more human alike.... like gmod i hate the current pm i like realistic pms

Check out Nanos World, you have to apply but it's a lot easier to get into. The developer is also active with the community which is great
For good reason, though. It's not a playable game right now, they're still working out the kinks of the modding tools. It's only in closed beta for the sake of speeding up the bug fixing process, and getting feedback on the tool workflow.
It will come out. This game is not in development hell. The game is updated every day and there's significant progress blogs every month.
People who are complaining about playmodels obviously know nothing about Garry's Mod and probably don't deserve to be in the developer preview. No shit they will allow custom playermodels. The whole point of the game is to be as much of a sandbox as Garry's Mod. I was one of the first people to get access people my workshop contributions were so high, the game has changed a lot and it will continue to change. Can't believe someone called it "soulless". If you played early Garry's Mod it would feel just the same.

I wouldn't call it Garry's Mod 2 just yet, give it a couple of years, and S&Box might get close, but from the footage i saw, its still feels quite early in development.

I’m happy that Garry is making what he wants to make and that there’s a community for it. But personally it’s not worth it if it doesn’t match the feel of the source engine. If they nailed the feel and look of Gmod and then built upon that, I would of been all for it.

I'm excited to see where S&Box goes, but I wouldn't be surprised if it dies out because of the lack of history and experience people have with it that they have with Garry's Mod. Despite the nextbots and horrible dupes, the workshop is thriving with incredibly talented developers making really cool addons, like ArcCW (Or Arc9 at some point), VManip, that new van infiltration addon that's gonna have a full on framework, and all of the insane stuff Mee has been doing. Garry's Mod isn't going to die anytime soon, and S&Box is probably going to remain a more niche platform for the foreseeable future, being overshadowed by Garry's Mod simply because it's been around for so much longer. It reminds me of modded Minecraft with Forge vs. Fabric, people just know Forge better, so it's more popular.

these hl2 models are for almost 3 years. couple days after release of HLA, some guy ported to S2 some hl2 gamebanana weapons. You could use them 3 years ago and they were more workable in HLA then here in this crap what garry is trying to do. (i mean escaping from HL universe with a mod which base is this world)
