Great video! My wife and I live in Asheville and are getting ready to get a weekend free of the kids to ride the trail. This made me look even more forward to it. Also, never had heard of Claire Kelly, but that song you picked, "Taste of Home" was a fantastic choice to accompany the video!
Your videos are so well-done. Thank you for sharing. My wife and I love the TR leg of the Swamp Rabbit...it's our favorite because of the small-town vibe, and....the pink lady ice cream shop, haha. You really did a great job of capturing the essence of the trail. It must be cool to live on it! We ride the trail every time we head to the upstate to camp at a state park or visit Greenville.
Thank you. I kind of have an unfair advantage over a lot of RUclipsrs in that I’ve been a professional editor and videographer for most of my adult life! This channel gives me a chance to combine two things that I love a lot bicycling and video editing. Glad you enjoy TR!
one of my favorite trails, i always park at the farthest point in travelers rest, at the cemetary, and head south, lunch on the grass at furman, then after a short break down to unity park and then back, but i hardly pedal with the electric bike, another one of my favorite trails on a rainy day is peak to prosperity, its raining today, i am already loading up the bike
Love it !! Enjoy the tidbits of info.. No Donuts 🤔.. Is Tandem Coffeehouse still open.. You right they need to tone down the PR.. Love the Trail but it does get crowded.. Keep up the Great Work.. Love your Story telling 🚴😀
Just watched this video. The wife and I are in our early 60s and picked up a couple of 90s era mountain bikes that were rarely used just to get out on this trail. You’re video is as well done as any that pros would do. Music choice perfect, sense of humor well done. Very entertaining thank you 🙏
man, it's crazy to see people on youtube actually showing where i live, travelers rest and it's really interesting. i bike a lot on swamp rabbit or atleast when i have time and every time i bike on it i go to the whistle stop that's just off of it.
I watched this last night and rode it from the Ingles in travelers rest to almost the reedy park bridge. Ran out of time! We were staying at an KOA rv park north of town. Back to abbeville SC to stay with family. We live in Alaska most of the time. Gonna try the doodle trail next.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. So hilarious. I’ll be watching all of your videos now 👍😊. I just bought a bike after 45 years of not having one and I live 10 minutes from the TR end of the SRT so I appreciate your perspective and info for when I ride the trail. Great video 🥰
Traveled 2 hours from North Augusta to ride this trail yesterday. Wasn't disappointed! We really enjoyed it. Stopped in travelers rest and ate lunch at resident diner. Awesome food! We will be back again.
A nice, honest take on the SWT. After a few visits I agree with your take. I'm moving there Feb 2024 and was hoping for a relaxing Rail Trail like the one near my home in New Orleans (Tammany Trace) that is 60 miles round trip, no pets allowed (even in trailers), and passes through zero population centers so it is never crowded or the least bit stressful. Hopefully I can figure out what the "off hours" for SWT are and try to hit it during quieter times. Thanks for taking the time for the report. Cheers. ( If i see you, I won't approach you 😎)
Ha! Well, welcome to the Upstate. I would caution you to avoid the Swamp Rabbit Trail on Saturday mornings, especially! You will probably enjoy living here, though. Lots of folks do!
@@joyfultrails I'm adaptable. Likely shift some riding to the many dirt trails around GVL. The Doodle looked promising in your video also. And I know how to chill when trail traffic is heavy. I'm more likely to skate the Rail Trails (inlines, longboards) but can see cycling them "calmly". Your vids and history lessons have been very helpful. Wife and I love the place. Not coming to change anything. Like it how it is. Happy Trails!
We got to ride the SRT last year and it does get busy. My parent's are moving to the area so it will be great to have them close and i image we will be getting to know all the legs of the trail. Do you know if they are adding anymore sections to it?
The newest section features high bridges over busy thoroughfares like Laurens Road and Haywood Road, and heads out to Verdae Blvd. It's nice! I'm sure they will continue to develop it...
Really, you could go either way. But I will say this: from TR to Greenville is slightly downhill. If you go from Greenville to Travelers Rest, conversely, it’s a slight uphill climb.
@@joyfultrails Thank you... my wife and I are watching and were wondering because we saw more green landscape than we thought we would in February. We live in Florida now, but will be neighbors with TR soon!
@@joyfultrails great channel! I volunteer down at the Village Wrench and recently considered checking out more of the upstate bike trails. Have you been on the Conestee mtn bike trail? Kind of a flow trail, mellow compared to Paris Mtn. Thought I saw an Arri light on one of your oldschool interviews with the Braves I think. I live down Cherrydale
@@dpixvid Yes, quite possible regarding that light. I worked for the cable company back then and did video production there for about 10 years. I’ve been on about 60 trails in the Carolinas, Georgia and Tennessee over the last four years. But most all of them are greenways, riverwalks and rail trails… Flat and paved! I don’t do mountain bike trails, since my bike is a Townie. 🙂
There's a gap in the trees about 5:40 in the video. When I rode this trail March 15, 2015 one of these was lying across the trail because just minutes before a car had careened off the street, across the trail and landed in the parking area just to the left. If I had been a bit earlier, it might have been my last ride. 🚴 🚙)))
I’ve not been able to find it online. I did, however, find some generic “life behind bars” cycling t-shirts on Etsy. Just Google it (or in my case, Duck Duck Go)… 😉
I love that you started the day with your "quiet time". 🙌
This video was so funny and entertaining. Loved it and love the swamp rabbit trail
Thank you, I really appreciate that.
Great video as always. What a beautiful place to live. Hope to be able to bike the SRT someday. Thanks for videos' God Bless.
Loved the TR trail, when you were describing how many churches are just steps away!!
Thanks Scott💞👍

Scott, great video!!! If I was to bike from Greenville SC to TR, where could I eat with a dog??? Just looking for the best "pet friendly" restaurant.
I don’t have any pets, so I really can’t answer that. Sorry about that!
Happy I’m retired and can enjoy this trail on weekdays. 😊
Have fun!

So well done, Scott! Made me homesick for the GV area, especially since it’s cold and snowy up here in Wisconsin right now.
Thanks, man! Hope you’re doing well.
Would you recommend starting in Traveler Rest and go downtown and back or downtown to TR>

I see this was uploaded in February, but can you tell me what month it was filmed? Thank you. Nice video.
As I recall, it was filmed in February as well - about a week before it was edited.

Rode the Greenville end of SRT in 2019-turned around just short of TR. Looks like I need to come back and finish!
Do you give riding tours?
No, no tours...sorry!

Does upstate SC have too many people from NJ and NY?
I'm not sure where they're all coming from.
