- Marvel Anatomy takes the perspective of T'Challa, so it was important for me that the book appear truly Wakandan. To do this, I needed help from someone who truly understood - and celebrated - African art.
That's when I found Salim Busuru. Together, we created a collection of designs for the book, as well as a series of Wakandan-style masks for each chapter. Here is a truly great example of concept art: ideas that borrow from what came before, to create something new.

As someone who looked up to Salim as a mentor and later got to work with him on so many projects, let me tell you, he's the real deal!! You found an African Gem of a master Artist!!
Shin I love that, I totally agree and I'm so psyched to have gotten a chance.
Thank you for introducing me and many others to Salims work.
It's my honor dude. This isn't the first artist spotlight I'll be doing, but I think it's certainly one of my favorites (and I'm most personally connected in this one).
WAKANDA 4 EVER!
Wow this cool, I like how some African influence has been updated for the future, I wish other cultures could do this as effectively
Happy to see a fellow Kenyan on a Marvel project.
Wanted to be the first one but that's okay. Maybe the next one.
I doubt Salim is the first Kenyan on a Marvel project, but maybe this is one of the cooler and more obvious contributions to the company? Honestly they were lucky I got him to help on this gig, his work makes the book so much more unique.
And yes Mark, you could be the next!!! Much love man.
@@JonahLobeDraws The obvious and cooler projects are the goal.
Amazing work, both of you.
After recently watching Wakanda Forever and reading a comment about how they should have implemented more elements from African Culture and spending the last few days learning about Ubuntu, so this video fits like a glove, thank you as always, Jonah!
Amazing! Things clicked and the everything fell into alignment for you Luiz, I'm so glad. And wow you're learning about Ubuntu, that's so cool. Why, may I ask?
I cannot wait for your anatomy of Miles Morales
Thanks dude!
