Making Wakandan Masks --- Interview w/ Salim Busuru | Jonah Lobe

Marvel Anatomy takes the perspective of T'Challa, so it was important for me that the book appear truly Wakandan. To do this, I needed help from someone who truly understood - and celebrated - African art.
That's when I found Salim Busuru. Together, we created a collection of designs for the book, as well as a series of Wakandan-style masks for each chapter. Here is a truly great example of concept art: ideas that borrow from what came before, to create something new.

I doubt Salim is the first Kenyan on a Marvel project, but maybe this is one of the cooler and more obvious contributions to the company? Honestly they were lucky I got him to help on this gig, his work makes the book so much more unique.
