I have had my 3.0 for about 2 years and it works great on flies. I have 3 things that make it work better. (1) get a laser beam attachment (metal, not plastic) and attach it to the barrel. With it, you just put the red dot on the fly, and get 100% accuracy. (2) Get a Rescue (brand) fly trap for $8.00 at Ace, or other hardware store. This will attract the flies, and you will have a target rich environment. You just sit in a chair nearby, and blast the flies when they land. Bonus: when you are not around, the trap works to capture the flies in the jar. You will soon have hundreds of flies in there. You can buy refill bait later. (3) I made a Bug-a-Salt gun rack out of a 1 x 4 and two 3 inch dowels to hang it up in my bedroom in a place of honor when not in use. I see a fly, I know exactly where find my Bug-a-salt gun. You soon find out the flies' habits while you hunt them in your yard. These guns are just the thing when you have one pesky fly in your house. It is a new sport. There's football, basketball, baseball, and fly hunting.
Thanks for the followup video, I watched the videos you made last year and it really caught my attention as a fun way to take out pesky flies and such. I just ordered a version 3.0 in black from Cabelas using a Fathers Day gift card. I can't wait to snipe some pests! If it's as good as you say, I might buy another one and dedicate it to my camp trailer. We sure could have use one at camp during my elk hunt last September. All the best and happy bug hunting!
I took my AAA bill and rolled it long ways over the barrel gave me a 10.5” extension puts my range out to about 4 feet. I really want a forward grip on the pump might have to retrofit one. Got mine at big 5 on sale for $49.99
Do not use sugar! It'll attract ants and other pests. Only use salt with an anti-caking agent (most common is Yellow Prussiate of Soda). I have tested different types of salt and finally found kosher salt with the anti-caking agent. I now use a mix of table salt and kosher salt (2 to 1) and it seems to perform better than either salt by itself. My guess is that the larger kosher salt hits harder but the table salt fills in the gaps for a better seal for the air to propel it (rather than escape around the larger kosher salt grains by itself).
I'm trying out " bug a salt, High performance salt. From bug a salt. They Say it's like the difference between birdshot and buckshot. How about barrel extensions?
Hi from Germany 🙂 Thanks for both of the reviews, especially for this follow up. I came across the bug-a-salt just yesterday and was wondering if it not only will last a short time seeing it's toy'isch make. Thanks to your review I am now relatively sure that it will give me at least 2 seasons with some fun. All the best to you and your wife, I will keep following your channel!
This is a true man's tool. Fed up with flies in the summer months and trying to chase them round the house with a roled up newspaper or gas them with deoderant, and even tried water in a spray gun then whack them. A Bug A Salt gun seems fun to use and does the job. Nice video.
I have the 2.0 and the 3.0. The 2.0 is several years old and is still working well. The 3.0 is about 1 year old and is also working well. I have killed wasp and "enormous" horse flies with the 3.0 with just one shot. I have also used both on mosquitoes very effectively. I rarely waste a second shot on a wounded fly, because I know, if even one grain of salt has penetrated the fly, it will soon die due to dehydration.
Epsom salt or a coarse ground salt greatly increases your knock down power. I killed a wasp today with mine first shot took out his wings follow up shot totally crippled it one last shot finished him.
I see you decided to buy one of those a-salt rifles before they're banned, I can't say I blame you I can't believe politicians want to ban these a-salt rifles

Greetings from Germany, great channel by the way.
Ordered mine today
Awesome! Thank you!
I use Pink Salt out of a grinder and all three of mine work fine with the bigger chunks. I own V 1, 2,and 3. Makes them much more deadly. :) Cheers!

For every spider you kill you get 100 flies and mosquitos. Let them live 😅
I have one and ready like to use it on wasps
Sea salt works great in it.
How good is it if targeting cockroaches?
Just bought 1 for 49.00

Has the blackfly edition got the same power as the yellow one?and the same salt pattern?
I believe it is the exact same gun.
Hope so.I ordered one on Amazon. Now I am waiting for the longtime requiring and super slow international shipment by Amazon.
Will the salt lump up if the magazine is left with salt in it?
It has not on my gun. If it got wet, I’m sure that could be an issue.
try gun powder with torch
Hi from Greece
can be used sand instead of salt?
I would stick with salt. Some say Kosher salt works well, but I haven't tried it.
Sand will void the warranty
Thank you for the review. Have you seen the 3.5 Widowmaker?
I just ordered one. Look for the review in the near future
