In terrible silence you stood at the world's end And crawled into the sun Blinded by the signal fires That seared your heart And the seething tongues of the lies we became I sat in Babel's tower And judged the world Said I spoke the language Of saints and sinners But preached the world was flat And slipped between the cracks In horror I strode to the world's end Saw some torn by hunger Others broken by steel But by the bitterest fortune Cursed the heathen and holy But found no relief We sat in Babel's tower And fought over the world I never spoke the language Of your saints and sinners Of men nor beast Who roamed this flat earth Liars tongues seethe in fire At the end of harsh white lines We set the world to rights Yet I awoke in the same black spirit State once again And we sat in judgement in Babel's tower
Years on I've come to the conclusion that this is my favourite Primordial song, I just love everything about it, it's just so haunting and magical and the video... just incredible stuff. Thank you for the music.
Nemtheanga hits a note at about four minutes which I didn't think him capable of. Reminds me a bit of Led Zep's Robert Plant, but with more power to it. The lads from Erin keep getting better and better.
Love this song. It was my introduction to the band, and resulted in my purchasing Where Greater Men Have Fallen and To the Nameless Dead just recently.
From my understanding these guys have only done one North American tour over the past few years and I know it is expensive for European bands to come over here. But how the hell have no bigger bands taken these guys out as co-headliner/direct support? I am lucky enough to have seen them at Hellfest but I would love to see them again some day. They put on one of the most energetic and passionate performances I have ever seen. They were fucking legendary and ripped the stage apart!
Oh yes, Alan's got a ton of character and on-stage charisma. And the rest of the band are not far behind him either. I went to their gig a few years back and it was the highlight of the whole festival for me.
art never true always someones opinion -we are all primordial - we live we eat we seek shelter we are PRIMORDIAL until we die- we are one in PRIMORDIAL FOR NOW
At one time all the people of the world spoke the same language and used the same words. As the people migrated to the east, they found a plain in the land of Babylonia and settled there. They began saying to each other, “Let’s make bricks and harden them with fire.” (In this region bricks were used instead of stone, and tar was used for mortar.) Then they said, “Come, let’s build a great city for ourselves with a tower that reaches into the sky. This will make us famous and keep us from being scattered all over the world.” But the Lord came down to look at the city and the tower the people were building. “Look!” he said. “The people are united, and they all speak the same language. After this, nothing they set out to do will be impossible for them! Come, let’s go down and confuse the people with different languages. Then they won’t be able to understand each other.” In that way, the Lord scattered them all over the world, and they stopped building the city. That is why the city was called Babel, because that is where the Lord confused the people with different languages. In this way he scattered them all over the world. Genesis 11:1-9 NLT
Im thinking this song is partly about british imperialism. How they domineered over the Irish and other people's of the world without knowing their language or appreciating the subtlety of the cultures they governed.
So far I'm not so into this as "Redemption at The Puritan's Hand" which I thought was mind blowing, but perhaps I should hear the entire thing and let it sink in.
"Goddammit, I thought we would both carry his body! I had to drag it all the way." "Sorry, man." "Did you at least dig the grave?" "Nah but I got super high on shrooms." "Well, thanks for nothing. Let's bury the bastard before someone finds out. I think what we're doing is totally illegal."
Great tune in it's own right! I'm new to Primordial, first song I've ever heard actually ;) But it does make me remember Black Sabbath/Dio's Children of the Sea. (heard best on the Live Evil 1980 album imo) Regards & Thx for the upload! \m/
The lyrical content reminds me of Emanuel Swedenborg's interpretation of Babel's Tower as being a symbolic story of man moving away from genuine spirituality and inventing ritualistic and organised religion as a way for individuals to exercise control over other individuals for personal gain thereby alienating them from positive spirituality. I wonder if that is intentional. If so that is pretty sophisticated.
In my head this song is about germany when the nazi party rose to power. Like In terrible silence you stood at the world's end (after wwI germany was bancrupt and devastated) And crawled into the sun (when the people voted for the nazi party with the swastika symbol, which is an old symbol for the sun) Blinded by the signal fires That seared your heart And the seething tongues of the lies we became (nazi propaganda etc.) the rest i still gotta figure out...
+Judas Priest Primordial is from Ireland, and on different websites they're classified as celtic folk/black metal. Their lead singer, A. A. Nemtheanga, does wear corpse paint during concerts. However they classify themselves, this song is one of my favorites by them.
originalidad...desde la cancioncilla de Loser a Solstafir, Amorphis...joder tsntos videos arrastrando muertos x el campo! Pero es chuli chuli la idea eh
This band has been on a role for their last four albums.
Where greater men have fallen's a fucking masterpiece.
Like cosplaying?
Every album aside from the mediocre debut has been a masterpiece.
Who's still listening to this masterpiece in 2024 🔥🤘🏻🔥

In terrible silence you stood at the world's end
And crawled into the sun
Blinded by the signal fires
That seared your heart
And the seething tongues of the lies we became
I sat in Babel's tower
And judged the world
Said I spoke the language
Of saints and sinners
But preached the world was flat
And slipped between the cracks
In horror I strode to the world's end
Saw some torn by hunger
Others broken by steel
But by the bitterest fortune
Cursed the heathen and holy
But found no relief
We sat in Babel's tower
And fought over the world
I never spoke the language
Of your saints and sinners
Of men nor beast
Who roamed this flat earth
Liars tongues seethe in fire
At the end of harsh white lines
We set the world to rights
Yet I awoke in the same black spirit
State once again
And we sat in judgement in Babel's tower

This band is nostalgia for me. Sometimes I really like to go back to the roots...
Riff starting at 3:36 and the rest including solo is GREAT!

I'm going to the album launch on Friday in Dublin. Cant wait

Just felt in love with this band .-.

I don't think this is a band to open for 'bigger' bands. It cannot hardly click on the spot, they need to play in front of their fans that get it..
@@MrRage11111roI dunno. I can see Maidens fans totally digging this and accepting the band.
BRILLIANT , PROUD OF THESE IRISH METAL HEADS! \M/

This is so melodic I love it. I'll look for tablature 😊🤘
This is amazing.

The beginning reminds me of Dead Memories...
I was thinking the same thing
+Fernando Rivera Of which band exactly?
+Fernando Rivera Freezing Moon, a lot.
Awesome song
Reminding me to candlemass
Reminds me of Bathory, in case you haven't heard any of their work. He's dead now, but there's plenty of excellent albums to "dig through."

Behemoth "blow your trumpets" influence in the beginning?
It is seriously doubtful that is an influence on the arrangement or composition of this song Sinister Nightmare
In my head this song is about germany when the nazi party rose to power. Like
In terrible silence you stood at the world's end (after wwI germany was bancrupt and devastated)

006Morrigan Thank you!
yeah, only the Nazis ever used propaganda...
Ryan O'Morain Never said that, but the symbol of the sun was an indicator for me, that this specific regime was addressed here.
Goorbatschov It's just typical of people to compare EVERYTHING to Nazis. People are fucking obsessed.
anyone know any other bands similar to the guys? my life needs more music like this
Noah Reeser try agalloch, sólstafir or summoning
mourning beloveth
génial
someone tell me please exactly what sub-genre of metal is that.

thx man .
+Judas Priest kinda black in terms of the music but classic heavy in vocals (i think he sounds like bruce Dickinson)
I actually hear some doom influences in this one and in other songs of this album, they are quite the unique band
yeah they have something different from the other bands maybe the spirit
Bet that is the bleak & beautiful Wicklow mountains. The song is good but not great. Interesting vocals at times & a chilling guitar solo at the end.
Kinda like Nevermore. Remember them?
