LYRICS: Your flesh calls to the funeral pyre. As far as the eye can see. The horizon on fire. He who hunts alongside beasts may become their prey. The hunter becomes the hunted. As the darkest night follows the shortest day. Victory has 1000 fathers, Defeat is an orphan. Vultures wheel high in the sky. Calling to the carrion kind. Who are devoured by time. Make your pilgrimage to the ghosts of loss. Every martyr follows another. To the great tomb in the sky. We are devoured by time. Victory has 1000 fathers, Defeat is an orphan. Lyrics : A. Averill (Nemtheanga) Music : C. MacUilliam and Primordial
totally agree. he improved alot. with dread sovereign aswell. and verminous serpent live was fucking insane. in my opinion hes the best metal live singer there is, or i just fucking love him haha i want him to re-record dark horse on the wind that he covered 3 years ago. i think he can do it even better now.
@@angrbodasvartur best live metal singer, man? Wow, you took it toooo far in my opinion. His stage presence is phenomenal, but to me he has never sounded outstanding live at regular basis. Saw them a few times though and will see at Ultima Tour as well. Don't get me wrong, love them, it's one of the most genuine metal bands ever, but there are many vocalists that perform on a better level (Devin Townsend, for instance, or Manuel Gagneux from Zeal & Ardor, or Sven from Aborted if we talk extreme metal). Last time I saw Alan I thought his vocal was degrading honestly, but I hope if was a bad night.
@TrulyStucker Well, it was a bit of a tongue-in-cheek response to @n8wolf575 But, he is one of my favourite live singers for something you pointed out... his stage presence IS phenomenal. That's what makes him one of the best, in my opinion. It's the package deal. Whether it be with Primordial, Dread Sovereign, or now Verminous Serpent, for me, it's the passion he brings to the stage. Perfection is highly overrated. I've seen plenty of shows where the musicians were top-notch and sounded as perfect as the album. But it was incredibly boring. I love Alan's energy and voice, even if it's not always perfect. In the end, music is subjective. And you know what they say... opinions are like @ssholes, everybody has one. hahahaha.
In the 23 years of this Damn' century, i've seen them live 3 times and i'm willing to witness this album played on stage once more. All the reasons why would amount to a very long comment, so let me sum it up for you - Honesty, Integrity, Talent, Creativeness, Musical Inspiration, Soulful Dedication, Strength and Hope. A very Rare group. One of a kind.
"Make your pilgrimage to the ghosts of loss" When he sings this line, it's so fu***ng epic!!!. I can't imagine being in a concert hearing this song with all his mighty power! 🤘
Another belter of a song from Ireland's favorite sons. Consistently great music, they will one day run out of photo generic ruins but hopefully no time soon. Great music lads, pumped for the new album in September. Hail and Kill!
Oh yeah, they're back!! Great track, great video. Loving the album artwork & overall aesthetic to, something a little different from them. Can't wait for the release! 🔥⚔️🔥
Hail Primordial! Legendary band still putting out extremely high quality metal with evocative lyrics for decades now. Alan is an incredible vocalist and he doesn't deserve the smears against his character directed his way by certain sections of the community. Metal, artistically, is not a safe space - but even so, Primordial are not a fascist band!
@@Anttimation I've seen people alleging he's a fascist/WS going back 15 years based on like a single lyric, or that he's friends with the D666 guys. Now the dorks at metal-archives and elsewhere think he's a boomer/MAGA/chud because he's said some things on his podcast that don't meet their progressive standards.
YES. There's quite a few Primordial songs I'd love to hear reworked as Trad songs. The melody is already there, and so's the spirit. Heavy metal or not, this is 100% a Celtic band.
On Spotify the cover art for the album attached to this track has "How it Ends" written on it - I hope this isn't to be taken at face value to say that it will be the final Primordial album. 🙏
I was getting worried I'd heard the last of Primordial-especially after I saw Alan landed an exec job at Metal Blade (congrats, Alan, BTW!) but, praise be,here it is. One of the few bands that only get better with time. Most bands have a shelf life of 3 albums and lose sight of their sound while trying to reinvent and stay fresh. Not Primordial. I know the new album's called, "How It Ends," but I hope this ain't it. Every body of work only makes me want more.
I worried to and also hope it is not last Primordial album. Btw wtf happened with Michael O'Floinn??? I hope that not something serious, he was with band around 20 years, writes many good stuff (Gallows Hymn, Bloodied Yet Unbowed, Where Greater Men Have Fallen as examples) he really good songwriter and i finds out that he is not member of Primordial
Where did you hear he landed an exec job at MB? I know he has worked in A&R there since 2010, but was not aware of any promotion or anything. Would be cool if he advanced in the company.
tbh wasnt the biggest fan of almost every album that came after to the nameless dead, this here combines their black metal roots with the more folkish and epic melodies and still hits that sweet melancholy note, this is a great song and if indeed this should be the last album of theirs they go out on a high note!

We need more of this liberated Irish Metal... Especially now.
Alan's vocals are getting better with the years. Literal chills. Great song horns up!

Or, how about you love him because he's the best live metal singer?
Very Jørn-sounding here. Good shit.

Great new song from one the best bands ever.

a song dedicated to that line during the poker shootout in The Sopranos. Bravo, gentlemen!

An unplugged version of this with banjo, fiddle, tin whistle and accordian would be beyond epic.!! 🔥

Strongly disagree with your “three albums” hypothesis. Too many great bands out there, with many more than only three great albums.

Becoming Running Wild
what a great intro riff. They are back!
