For those who don't know, traded Pokémon won't always listen to you if they are too high-level and you don't have enough Gym Badges. This is to discourage getting a super-high level Pokémon from someone else and just breezing through the rest of the game.
Fun fact, one way to get around this is to trade your starter, level it up in another game, and trade it back. It doesn't count as a traded pokemon cause it was yours to begin with :)
@@rovidelarosa maybe you are trying to fill the Pokedex and while you are at it you need the exclusive Pokemon from another version and to get those you need to farm a lot, having a starter OP helps a lot

Subaru is a very kind and caring trainer, actually suffering from their cute to not so cute evolutions, and treat every member respectfully and all. Okayu is a anime antagonist that just boxes pokemon because their bad status and not being useful in battle. I love the contrast between the two so much!
In reality though, Okayu's just being the regular pragmatist who's removing the veil of illusion in Pokemon and effectively behaving as anyone would in a world where we recreationally fight against other Pokemons. I mean, if they were so precious as friends in the first place to the population of Pokemon, they wouldn't stop you all the time for a fun battle until all of someone's owned Pokemons collapse from violence.
Like the real cat she is, Okayu trades for a different toy, tosses it around a couple times, then never pays it any attention ever again. And the fact that it was named after her "owner", as it were, is even more on-brand for a cat xD

But honestly most of the pokemon games are the opposite where its all logical and quantifiable variables. Ignoring HM slaves, even in competitive battle a well thought out team with carefully selected natures, ivs, etc, will probably always win over a pokemon with a “bond”. Fortunately they added more bonding related stuff like feeding pokemon, walking with them, return, and max bond bonuses for non competitive battles. And pokemon Go is the absolute worst at this because its all about IVs, shinies, and you are encouraged to catch and trash pokemon at mass. Pokemon bonding in this game is a minor bonus and return has nothing to do with bonds. Basically its ironic.
Oh extremely. Part of why I never really cared for competitive pokemon. Even outside of sappy attachment to an in-game team, it also just makes me feel bad that I can’t use certain Pokémon I like because they’re not viable or can’t fit in well with a team
The bond stuff can be really good if RNGesus is with you though. Free extra crits, free sturdy, maybe a few other things I'm forgetting, though yeah, a competitive player would probably rather have that on top of a team they specifically breeded to have perfect ivs and all the other features they want. Even beyond that you can't ignore types and other aspects of the game as much as Ash does in the anime where Pikachu can defeat every pokemon including ground types with Thunderbolt unless the episode needs to focus on another Pokemon he'll probably release a while later. I don't think so. At least in the newer games. You can put a lot of extra work to train a pokemon you already have instead of boxing it : ultimate training, berries and vitamins, aromas, nature changers and so much more are a much harder way of getting a competitive pokemon, but it allows you to bring your old friends into battle instead of replacing them with a better breed. Training a pokemon this way is the ultimate proof of love. And if you like to breed pokemon instead, you will celebrate when you finally hatch that perfect 6 IV baby. It's not a strong pokemon, but it has so much potential, and you will bond with it over the course of its training. Training a pokemon this way feels like raising a child. Lastly, you can't train everything, so you have to get rid of a lot of pokemon, by releasing them into the wilderness or by donating them to a pokemon professor, so they can be studied, which will contribute to the betterment of relationships between humans and pokemon. Releasing shows how much you love pokemon.
