  • How to make an anvil stand from steel. In this video I use scrap steel to make a stand for the 66-pound Vevor anvil that I recently reviewed on the channel. A link on that review is below. I started out making a 3-legged stand but ended up making a 4-legged stand due to the mounting hole placement on the anvil. I could have just extended the mounting plate and solved the issue but I had already cut the plate. Either way, it turned out ok.

What are some of your ideas for an anvil stand? In my experience it’s pretty limited but you may have an idea or have used something out of the norm.

Finally know how I'm going to mount my anvil now. Awesome video

You’re welcome. I made the longer first but always cut a short from them. They get way more views. 😂

I have a smaller 77 pound anvil, so I got a big stump and I mounted mine on that, so far it is not drying out too much, but then again, I cut the tree down, and harvested the stump when the tree was still alive, I would prefer a metal stand though.

Yeah them big stumps work great but I like the metal ones the best.

Mr Tony, thanks for a simple explanation to what seems to be hard for most people. Can you give us the approximate angle that you cut those legs? I’ve got a couple old London patterns that need stands and your style is what I’m planning. Thanks again

The angle was probably around 15 degrees or so. I just winged it but that should be in the ballpark. Three legs are better than 4 for leveling however. Thanks for watching!

I would think the metal legs on the stand would scrape your floor up, have you found if that is the case?

what does the hammering on the fresh weld do?

Knocks off the slag. You don’t want to paint over welding slag.
