- From Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon. Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon is a 1985 martial arts musical film, produced by Rupert Hitzig for Berry Gordy and directed by Michael Schultz. The film was a critical disappointment but a financial success, The Last Dragon is now considered a cult classic. The film stars Taimak, Vanity, Julius Carry, Christopher Murney, and Faith Prince. Choreography was done by Lester Wilson, and Lawrence Leritz. The film was released in theatres by TriStar Pictures on March 22, 1985.
Please don't forget about the actor who played Sho'Nuff - Julius Carry. he passed away in 2008. He made an awesome bad guy.
I AGREE
RIP SHO NUFF
whose da master?
If I remember correctly, he said he'd attack sho'nuff himself.
Naw now dang noone played shonuff like he did
The Last Dragon is legitimately one of the most fun movies ever made.
I agree
I absolutely agree. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and the fight scenes are pretty dope! Taimak kicks ass as Leroy, and Sho'Nuff is one of my favorite villains ever.
I’m only 25 this is one of my favorite classic movies. I appreciate the stuff my dad took the time to show us the stuff he loved as a kid. This was one of many.
Your dad's got good taste 👌
80s and 90s movies were the best. They don't make them like that anymore.
Just don't let the illuminated ones fool you with their propaganda about defeating the Almighty. The dragon cannot prevail.
Nice, my son and i will react to this movie soon. I grew up training martial arts. Taimak's starting sequence and his style of fighting was inspiring to me!
I felt this
Here July 2023 & this will forever be one of my favorite movies, I remember watching this movie as a kid(I’m almost 41 now) & I still get excited when Bruce Leroy gets the glow lol. Also the lyrics hit different when you’ve been through some things in life🦋🦋🦋💫💫💫
October 2023, I’ll be 42 in December 😂
"Keep your money. You just get that sucka to the designated place at the designated time and I will gladly designate his ass... FOR DISMEMBERMENT!"
Haha
😂😂😂😂😂
ahh they don't make lines like that any more...... "kiss my converse!!!" XD
and then he quickly closes the suitcase full of money
That is a great quote, well played sir.
R.I.P. to Denise Matthews (VANITY), who played the love interest in the movie, "The Last Dragon".
She was in a movie called Action Jackson. She was hot in that movie as well . . .
steelerj2000 She looked good in all her movies 💎
You suck
Love her dearly but was not happy about her being Leroy's woman lol but I was little at the time lolololol
He was my childhood crush, well one
R.I.P Leo O'Brien (Richie)
R.I.P Vanity (Laura)
R.I.P Julius Carry (Sho'nuff)
When I saw this movie i said this shit is amazing and I loved it and I have the movie
And Taimak who is my favorite character as Leroy he did an outstanding job in the movie 👍👍👍💪💪💪🥋🥋🥋🐉🐉🐉👊👊👊🥢🥢🥢🍜🍜🍜㊗️㊗️㊗️
You are the last dragon, you possess the power to get laid!
Taimak is trying to get a sequel made, is what I've heard - PLEASE LET IT BE TRUE!
im 15, was introduced this movie by my dad at the time, i was 11 or 12, He showed me this movie because I am black and wanted to be like bruce lee, so he called me bruce leroy and I didnt know what he meant so he showed me this, and has been inspirational to my martial arts career even till this day. Sadly I cant see my dad anymore but I greatly thank him for showing me the movie that personally relates to me and make me feel better.
Sorry for your loss. He sounds like a cool dad.
Your dad sounds like he's a cool guy. The Last Dragon is an absolute BLAST. I found it when I was...I wanna say about your age, and I'm 23 now. Still one of my favorite martial arts movies ever.
Who are the knuckle-headed, troll, clowns giving this 'thumbs down?' Two things are obvious. The weren't around in the 80's, and they don't know a classic when they see one.
What he said!
Agreed bro !!
you are now the last dragon, defender of the roundest decade.
WORD!
Sho nuff's crew.
The best black karate movie of all time (1985) #REALTALK
Sovereign45 Woah there. Do not disrespect the greatest martial arts movie ever made. Without Bruce Lee and Enter The Dragon. We would not have Taimak and The Last Dragon.
Still my shit and true
I dare say one of the best martial arts films of all time! Period! 💯
Best martial arts movie- ever! race is irrelevant. Sho’nuff!
The best karate movie of all time .
OMG, somebody must have had the Holy Spirit when they made this song! Every time I hear this song, I still feel uplifted and resurrected. Close to 30 years ago now. This song is still just as powerful as it was when it came out in 1985! Thank you for posting.

Wish I could go back to the days of me and my brother watching this shit together. Best times of my life.
Me too...same thing bro....classic
Me too with my sister and cousins. For my wedding we had the DeBarge song. I just showed the film to my kids today along with Big Trouble In Little China.
Mannnn I felt that
Just close your eyes brother, and you'll be back there.
Me too. I just lost my brother in June 2023. Yesterday would have been his 52nd birthday. I just want to turn back time so we can be little again.

Take life one day at a time
That's what a wise man said to me.
He said, "Life, in all it's complexity
Is the ultimate test for you and me."
When you walk holding your head up high
For the masters watching you from the sky
I know not what trouble lies ahead
Before you fight, use your head.
It's time to leave my nest where you were born
This journey you must make alone.
(Spread your wings and fly)
There's a power deep inside you, an inner strength
You'll find in time of need.
(The Glow)
Like the seasons, love will come and go
If it's right, you'll automatically know.
The world of mystery exists only in your head.
When you become one with yourself
The wall will fall
The journey now before you is the final test
You've learned your lesson well.
(I can teach you no more)
There's a power deep inside you, an inner strength
You'll find in time of need.

Thanks for this! Also, I hate to be that guy but the correct lyric is "the *wall of mystery* exists only in your head." 'Wall of mystery' is a direct quote from the movie, from Leroy's master. ;)

Great 80s movie! Awesome characters. Awesome music. A more innocent and colorful time when people weren't so disconnected. Vanity was beautiful.

At 1:39......I usually don't speak for others outside myself but I must say that I know I wasn't the only one who felt the glow all over when that particular part came on in the song lol. I literally got goosebumps and it took me right to the scene when Leroy caught Sho'nuff's fist and said "I Am". MAAAAAAAAN, I'M CLOSE TO LEAVING WORK EARLY TO GO WATCH THAT DAMN MOVIE LOL.
Leroy went Super Saiyan before Goku. Lol
David White true
David White they both did even before Vegeta I think started the Saiyans
Darrion Reed Which means Sho'Nuff was the first black Vegeta to Leeroy's Goku.
David White bust out laughing!!!!

I KNOW, RIGHT !? Who the hell are these rotten people who would dislike great music, anyways 🙄 !? WTF 🙄 !?
I LOVE this movie, in EVERY phase of my life. As a child, as a teen, as a young man and now as a middle aged man. This movie was light, but had some serious themes underneath, great cast, but it was the Shogun of Harlem who made this movie. The villain makes the hero! "Who AM I?!"
They told Dwight David he couldn't structure a song by doing 4 minutes of verses back-to-back followed by nonstop chorus for the next 3 and a half.
But Dwight David looked them in the eye defiantly and said, "Watch me."
Dwight David was the master.
Dwight David replied " I AMMMM"
This is my THEME SONG. Forever. Thank You "The Last Dragon".
Glad to see I'm not the only weirdo who appreciate this song...Every Black SuperHero needs his own theme music lol
+SEAN FAME why you look more like a rapper than a fighter .........I got something real in theses hands for you!
HAHAHA! TRU-TH!
+FGAlele LOL i workout to this. the 80's had great soundtrack music that are brilliant for exercise. everything from lost boys, footloose, scarface, ghostbusters and this are perfect to sync to your ipod
RIP Julius Carry
please for the love of God do not try to remake this movie. some things should just be left alone. Hollywood always wants to remake good movies and think they can do better. why not take a movie that wasn't that good and try to remake it for the better instead of ruining classics?
Lat3registration 85 I would go insane if they ruined this movie
tweech2000000 Same here. Abso-freakin-lutely I would go nuts!
If they did, everyone would need to find the studio that produced it, and burn it down lmao.
You didn't knew..? They are busy with a remake of this movie starring Samuel L Jackson....
I'm not for sure if they are, but booker t from wrestling would be the best choice for shonuff
First off, I wanna dedicate this song to my new found financial freedom, therefore I just paid off my house in full earlier this year. And now I'm crying sweet tears of joy 😂.
And all is right in my life.
Thank you Jesus, my prayers have been answered.
Congratulations, man! :D

Someday i'll get a glow, I won't stop working hard at it.
The Best 80's martial arts movie, this movie was very exciting
Snake in Eagle`s Shadow and original Drunken Master, pretty damn good 80`s martial arts films . . .

Loved it still to this day
Catches bullets with his teeth? Niggah please!!!

lol
One of my favorite movies of the 80's hands down!
That line will never get old lmao
Right after I saw this movie, I asked my Taekwondo instructor when he was going to teach us how to catch bullets in our teeth. He said, "Right after someone teaches me." Ah, the 80s.
Before 2019 ends. We still listening.
Bruce Leroy?
Bruce Leroy? ......that's the only guy between sho and total supremacy. Haha gets me every time
Hahahahahaha!!!!!

Best line the movie.
he catches BULLETS WITH HIS TEETH!! PLEASE!!
This song is a metaphorical expression of ones daily life and can be applied in every walk of life. The message is very profound as well as the movies message. People should take heed!
This song is about being the last dragon and possessing the power of the glow.
Confidence and integrity
It ain't that deep man
Who’s still listening to this in 2023? 🙋🏾♀️
Me. 2024. One of my favorite movies growing up.
Shits a foundations for me. They need to make more movies like this.
Wendell is going on 45 years old I still love this song and the movie
Best part of this track is that you hear it at the beginning when he's training, like holy shit it's big time pump up music. And you don't hear it again until that climactic fight scene, when LeRoy is forced to confront the one fighter he didn't want to fight, realizing that to become -THE- master, you have to face your fears. Powerful.
I simply love this song. It takes me back to a more beautiful and pure time when the world made sense. Right was right. Wrong was wrong. God, please let me go home to that place.

I don't care if it sounds corny - I used to train to this music when it first came out - and its STILL amazingly inspirational!
I slayed so many people playing halo to this. Not corny at all.
The bit where it transitions from explaining the lay of the land to him in the first half of the track to: 'I can teach you no more. There's a power deep inside you, an inner strength you'll find in time of need'
then...
'You are the Last Dragon, you possess the power of the Glow' over and over for nearly half the song... Amazing, amazing song.

The movie was great but can we acknowledge the composition of this track? The strings, horns and the guitar!
It's so underrated, probably because of the ending where they just repeat "you are the last dragon" but this song is amazing on its own.
"You are THE LAST DRAGON, you possessed the power of THE GLOW!"
