Hello all :) I work at CVS and LOVE it when people know how to "roll their bucks"! First: Don't EVER let a cashier or another customer pressure you into hurrying and messing up using your coupons. They have more than one register and they can call for backup if need-be. (Although it does help the cashier out if you have everything in order BEFORE you get to the front.)
About the rainchecks: They fill them out (you can check to make sure they did it right), YOU take them home, they last literally forever. The only limit on coupons is, let's say you have two "$5 off a purchase of $15 or more" coupons. Each of those has to be covered, so if you want to use both, you have to have your subtotal up to at least $30, 15+15=30. You can use any other coupons with those as well. All others have no limit (except manufacturers' coupons might, read the fine print on those).
i agree with you as costumers we have a right! i have got many cvs employees being rude and lazy to do their job. As a viewer i can tell that you are very nice and funny and i know just by the way you are you did not call to get someone un-emplyed..the lady who wrote you its wrong we have a right, not all of us wish to get others in trouble.
Scanning card 1st: $10 (sale) + $10 (sale)=$20 & you can only use one "5 off 15" coupon: Total = 10+10-5=$15 Scan ITEM THEN CARD WITHOUT HITTING TOTAL: Comp reads normal prices: $15 + $15 = $30. 30/2=15 so both coupons are covered. Total = 15+15-5-5=$20 THEN HIT TOTAL and it knocks off $5 per item leaving you with a grand total of $10! So you saved an extra $5 just by having them scan your card AFTER an item. Not hitting total til after the coupons are used is KEY! Voila ;)
the new quantity and given back to the customer. Also with rainchecks we take them for as long as we have the item but if we stop carrying the item then the raincheck is void and not "like/similar" item will be used to replace it.
@happy2beesaved I work at CVS and I can tell you that as long as the rain check states that extra care bucks should be given then we can issue extra care with one button on our screen. It's not hard at all on the cashier, just make sure that when you get a rain check, it says somewhere on it to give the extra bucks that your supposed to receive.
I am a manager at the cvs in my town& no cashier should keep a raincheck that you havent used or let the customer fill it out, the cashier should have looked in the cvs flyer, found the item and wrote it down and put the even number for the coupon on there as well. the only time one should keep a rain check is if its used or if its being parcially used and you already wrote the customer a new rain check for the remaining amount because we were out of the full amount they had originally wanted.
Thank you for mention about the Extra bucks and that it works like that, because that is the question I had because I have coupons for Nevia products and CVS is having a special that if you spend 10 dollers you get 5 dollers Extra care Bucks =-)

I highly doubt that a manager would that be uninformed on policies regarding rainchecks. Maybe a shift supervisor or new employee. And yes you're right you get to keep the raincheck untill u get ur product then they need to keep it to get credit for it. I've worked for CVS for 5 years now.

Morality tip: If you smoke or drink a lot, stop. Easier said then done, I know. But you can obviously save way more (in many areas) if you quit bad habits. I have seen her do it several times. She says that people who use them are nothing but thieves and CVS is losing money everytime.
This works with any of those "price limit" coupons and if you only have one but don't want to spend the required amout, use the same process. B1G1 deals work great for those and like I said you can couple them with other coupons. Caution: Not all clerks will do this and most are stupid(sorry)/or don't care. Just tell them you know exactly how you want it done. If you find a nice one, keep going back to them. You could find out their schedule just don't sound like a stalker ;)
@conservativemama09 The stores don't lose money when manufacturer coupons are involved -- they actually make MORE money because the manufacturer usually reimburses the store for the full coupon value, PLUS a few extra cents. The stores make their money no matter what -- whether it is from the consumer or the manufacturer.
@kelsyisbananas Hi there :) I did call corporate after this shopping trip,but it was ONLY to be reassured that CVS cahsiers are not to keep our rainchecks. I did not use a store name or number, therefore, no one was in "trouble" as you say. Normally would I call corporate over something small like this? No, I would go to the manager to simply ask, but she was the manager. Yes, she was very nice to me, and that is why I did not make a big deal about it. I never just try to find something wrong.

Have the clerk scan an item first THEN your card (DO NOT HIT TOTAL TIL AFTER THE COUPONS! This makes the comp see the original higher prices and lets you use more of those "price limit" coupons refered to in my last post. If you're getting 2 items that're on sale for $10 but are normally $15 and you have 2 "5 off 15" coupons...
Exactly couponing is just a way for a lot of people to help feed their families and then help donate to the less fortunate. Did you ever stop to think that maybe those people with the two shopping carts and 300 coupons are buying that food to help donate to their food pantry? This isn't so people can be cheap this is to help save money to give their children better toys or clothes ect. If anything I feel bad for you because you're willing to throw away money.
People that are gaming the coupon system right now, will eventually ruin it for the average consumer, who buy 1 or 2 items with a coupon.as the stores will change policy, and also it is a inconvience to the average shopper, who wants to buy a item, but one coupon person cleans out the intire inventory, trying to get something for nothing.

I make a point NEVER to take up too much time and to be courteous of others. I LOVE CVS employess. I always brag about CVS having the nicest customer service. I don't understand why you feel the register woman was nice not to make you wait in line again with the multiple transactions. To the negative people & your ignorant comments about extreme coupon users you're annoying! and to the employees that have there panties in a bunch over extreme couponing, are you lazy or just that hateful inside? Maybe jealous? I don't get it, its not like the corporation you work for take care of you so why do you feel the need to protect multi million dollar company that only pays minimum wage? Stop and think about what you say cause it's really dumb. Be happy that you were able to be a part of someones family and full bellies or someone donating to less fortunate. I think the people who utilize these deals are Guinness and my hope is everyone catches on and does it. NO ONE should go hungry or without in a place held so high by it's self and others!
