What about pruning spent stems? I noticed mine has a few long stems that are dead at the tips. Can I prune those back to the healthiest node?

Hi there. Yes, you can, but make sure they are really dead, Hoyas look like bare tendrils before leaves sprout. If tendril is flexible and bends easily it is probably still alive, it hard and dry then prune. Hope this helps.😀🪴

For sure, these are dead 100% dry and cripsy. Thank you! @@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN

Those are called BUD SPURS not 😂 a paduncle that's a word years ago a women used when she was discriminated the old dried stems of one of her many Strepticarpus plants , people think she was describing a bud stem .

It’s spelled peduncle, not paduncle. And I am correct in description; bud spurs can also be associated with this region of Hoya, but my Hoya has not started to produce the flower cluster (bud spur/ spur) so it’s currently a peduncle. Hope this clarifies. 😀🌳

How do you know it’s “she”? Looks nice and I like the trellis in the pot it is climbing.. Just call it.. “it”.. you might get cancelled and that would be a shame!
