If I can remember this correctly, I’m pretty sure I used to watch these fly in and out of YYZ under an airline called “Jets Go” in the early 2000s.
These looked so pretty in the old AA livery. A good jet that had its fans.
Great video ! I flew the F100, as a first officer and loved it. The cockpit was state of the art for that time , and the hand flying was very smooth !
Very cool!
Those tail speed brakes clamshells are awesome
Glad you like them!
The engine mentioned was the Tay 620-15 used on both the Fokker 70 and some European versions of the Fokker 100. It is a direct derivative of the Tay 611-8 used on the Gulfstream IV.
Later versions used the Tay 650-15 that put out 15,100 pounds thrust. It had fan blades 0.4 inches longer and a fully redesigned HP (N2) turbine and nozzle box.
7:48 - as you mentioned there's a rather large fleet of F100s in Australia, apart from Alliance Airlines, Network Aviation (operating under QantasLink) also has a fleet based in Perth, Western Australia. Despite their age, these aircraft are still flying around many parts of Australia and have outlived newer aircraft types like the Boeing 717 which is currently being phased out, and this is testament to the F100's operating economics for remote regional operations. Alliance is slowly replacing the F100s with Embraer 190s.
One of my favorite airliners ❤
I like that you mentioned Alliance, they use the F100 and the F70 on their regional network, and i am told have no plans to retire them any time soon. You yet again taught me things i never knew about a plane i love and enjoy flying on. Well done, keep up the great work.
Good point!
The Fokker F-100 was a very nice little airplane. It sat up to 94 passengers, and kind of like a DC-9/MD-80 layout. It was almost considered a regional airplane, but however, American Airlines, USAir, and Swissair each used them primarily on their mainline fleets. It was an airplane that was well designed by the Dutch company Fokker, but didn't really exceed with sales like the Boeing 737, or Airbus A320s, that were flourishing back then. The Fokker company in the early '90s, folded due major setbacks. The F-100 can be remembered as a sharp, small sized airplane with really good Rolls Royce engines, and good climb power. It was loved by pilots.
hmm, MD couldn't draw or build a wing, so the MD-80 layout and kind of like the F-100.
Always good to watch your videos...very pleasant narration voice 😊!
Thank you! 😃
I miss seeing and hearing large T tail civilian aircraft
Me too
Currently flying one
And?
@@wouterbakker421 that's it just wanna tell you guys that im a pilot and I'm flying the f100🤣🤣🤣
@@paulbffb3274 how does the fokker fly is it any good?
@@wouterbakker421 you're beneath me pleb!
Good job with the music. Use it as a background for your voice. Don't let it overwhelm your narration. Good job.
Thanks for the tip
What were the major causes of the company's demise?
They needed a bridging loan between orders and payments of orders but they could not get it from banks and government. Really said because they had hundreds of orders for fokker 100 the biggest orders a Dutch company ever had. 5 biljoen euro of orders!
Inbetween the 614 and the F-100 was the F-28. The F-28 was a workhorse. The F-100? Not so much.
I believe it's pronounced "fucker"
🤣 Actually, it is!
@@EJWash57 I'm sure his AI will catch on eventually
WRONG. It rhymes with soccer.
@@timdetmers3240 "fucker" also rhymes with "soccer", at least the way I talk
Native speaker of Dutch and linguist here. Right from the start of the video, I was amazed how spot on the pronunciation was. The [ʌ] sound does not occur in the Dutch language, which makes it impossible for 'Fokker' to correctly be pronounced as 'f*cker'. (Using an asterisk here to keep the algorythms from getting this channel into trouble but you know what I mean.) It's very close to the pronunciation of 'soccer' in British English.
I hear many English speaking content creators struggle when discussing Fokker.
Not Osaruguexyzz. Well done, my friend!
