Well, parts of it smelled great. The whole 'cooking-with-pigs-fermented-poop' part did NOT smell good. LOL
It's so cool actually learning about coffee and how its grown and harvested. We did a plantation tour in Puerto Rico and learned so much! Looks like the on you visited is really big!!

The coffee farm is interesting. I wish we had done something like this when we visited Hawaii (famous for Kona coffee). It's nice when you have the tour guide to yourself. We've never been to Costa Rica, but we might visit one day. Thank you for sharing.
A Kona coffee tour would have been great! Doing a farm tour when you are traveling doesn't seem all that glamorous, but once you get there and start learning, it really is worth it! :)

My favourite part was learning how the process of peeling the bean, and what gets left to dry, affects the taste so much. It was such an interesting tour!

Well, to be honest, the farm smelled like any other farm, with chicken and pig waste mixed with the fresh, clean air of nature. But the coffee lab smelled incredible! :)

Who knew peeling a coffee bean meant so much to the final product? Yeah, I have a gas stove. I think I'll stick to that and pass on cooking with pig poo. (Or any other poo for that matter.) Interesting trip.
Isn't that crazy? I never would have realized that coffee beans have three layers, and each layer can be roasted to different degrees, so there's so many options for flavour with just one type of bean. The intricacies! :)
