Super excited to see some ipsec content from you Keith! I loved your CCNA Master Playlist, it really helped on my journey and now you're doing vpn? Too good 👍
Hahaha just happened that I wanted to test my skills in IPSec, learned about it from a technical point of view with Net+/CCNA. Currently reading about it again in Sec+. Now I would like to see some real life examples/labs Thanks Keith as always! :)
Awesome, was just studying about IPSec in the CBT Nuggets ENCOR course. Hope you cover the difference between IPSec tunnels with VTI vs crypto maps vs GRE over IPSec. I got really confused on that and had to do a bunch of outside study to figure out the difference.
In this series, I will be talking about some of those differences. Also in SCOR, which we are working on now at CBT, we go into significant detail on all that as well.
Thank you for the question Mey Noush. The GUI is the native web client on the router. ip http server ip http authentication local username admin privilege 15 secret cisco and you are all set. Enjoy.
Thank you Malik Aziz IPsec is for the data traffic that crosses an untrusted (or less trusted) network. DNS, as it is often going to public DNS servers benefits from protection as well. Here is a great article about protecting DNS traffic www.thesslstore.com/blog/dns-over-tls-vs-dns-over-https/#:~:text=DNS%20over%20TLS%20has%20its,standard%20port%20for%20HTTPS%20traffic.
@@GamjaField correct that's what's happening but this is wrong, in IT field things changes very quickly and we need to adopt to these changes and realize them in the productive environment ASAP. for example I have seen training videos which recommend using DH-Group 5 which is since many years obsolete.

Keith! What's the name of the GUI that you configured the router with please?
Thank you for the question Mey Noush. The GUI is the native web client on the router.
ip http server
ip http authentication local
username admin privilege 15 secret cisco
and you are all set.
Enjoy.
@@KeithBarker thank you Keith
I'm going to figure out how to setup a VPN by using my ehwic 3g card and having a router on both ends
So Keith, how does DNS over TLS or DNS over HTTPS fit into this topic?
Thank you Malik Aziz IPsec is for the data traffic that crosses an untrusted (or less trusted) network. DNS, as it is often going to public DNS servers benefits from protection as well. Awesome
Thank you!
You're welcome!
I hope that you will implement IKEv2 instead of normal GREoverIPSec.
big fan
People just stick to what they're used to.. Even for GRE over IPSec many still uses crypto map instead of tunnel protection

Thank you Ibrahim Alazawi! More to come, including IKEv2 and VTIs.
