Hi all! Long time no see!! I've had these repairs (remasters you have been calling them?) for quite some time now, so I thought it was finally time to share these since the originals are pretty bad ahaha! A lot more (in a lot better quality) to come soon! Hope you all enjoy, XO! (Side note but some people have been uploading my repairs on their own channels and advertising it as theirs!! It isnt theirs, and that kinda made me leave the community for a while. The community should be nicer about repaired content, this stuff takes time! Take yer leak copies, and shubb them!!)
Hearing lines from Last Call sung over the ending of Son of Sam, but playing as the chorus of a different song entirely in early demo form is a real treat. Thanks for uploading this
Some of these tracks really remind me of Jim Shepard’s solo work, a songwriter who we have also sadly lost to suicide. He was an Ohio resident and good friends with members of Guided by Voices, who Elliott worked with around 2002. R.I.P. to both of these amazing artists.
This is a jewel I dont even thing i've ever heard it Sounds familiar though Well, barrin songs and 'skits' i already know of course I guess the so called costello influence is still strong here Then as we got to 'she wont look at me' we can appreciate an elliott who sounds a little more familiar in tone and btw i love love love that song it's so pretty and a classic. It has that sort of same edge as say noname1 Theres many different aspects i really enjoy about it Hearing bits of 'to be classics' like future titles here and there gives off a weird effect, extraniating like 'church bells now im amake i guess it must be some kind of holiday...' i mean as soon as i heard it i was like 'eh really?' xD almost sounds like someone else is singing those words, someone from the future or from the past, like some sort of mash up, there are these parts of songs scattered all around and they come up when you least expect it Feelings aside, this goes to show and reinforce the known insight about elliott constantly working on his craft, and he brings everything with him, eversince pre heatmiser days And it's a sweet and powerful thing really With a hint of a haunting quality even, if you want Then again 'shiva opens her arms now...' 😅 wow❤
Heard a lyric from "Last Call" in the third track, as well a portion of "Son of Sam." Never heard these before. I love hearing the progression of his music.
That was very interesting to hear, Last Call is probably my favorite song of his. I also think I heard a line from Coming Up Roses. I admire his ability to reuse good ideas and continually improve upon them
Some serious growth between this and Roman Candle, only a year or 2 later. Its cool but feels very amateurish, very different especially with the vocal stylings. I wonder if his time in Heatmiser really helped him sharpen his writing skills and find his voice.

Huh, that's how old I am now. I'm gonna be old before I know it... but Elliott's music is timeless!
@@evrakk3543 I’m 31, believe me, you aren’t old. Be easy on yourself.

The 2nd song is also more-or-less the No Name #2 progression, or at the very least, the skeleton of it.
I'm Gonna Get Crushed is the perfect alarm song for me in the morning
Elliott Smith is the best
his voice is so different yet so the same i cant describe it
Thank you for this.

Go to Catface 9535's comment. This comment is antiquated.
4 track refers to a 4 track cassette recorder, there's 5 songs here
@@catface101 Yep. I was probably drunk when I made this.
Thanks for sharing!
Would you be kind enough to share a download link?
This is amazing. Any hope of doing this to the high school tapes?
