I love seeing how grateful the boys are to the actors who played them in the outer world so well, and it was so sweet when Jamie said that his reaction would have been exactly the same to give Jess a minute. You found a some truly amazing actors for these projects!!
whats crazy to me is how some of the alters actually LOOK different to jess. I see it especially in Jamie and Ollie.....(Ed still kind of looks like Jess... just a glammed up version, lol) but with some of the alters the way she holds her face changes completely and theres something different in the eyes and just .... hard to explain but i can actually "see" some of the alters too even before they speak.
Same. I can tell the alters before they even speak. Even Jamie here, though he doesn't have his glasses, he's still Jamie
Yeah Ive been looking up a few differnt channels to educate myself and this is by far one of my favorite aspects.. Being able to 'see' who people really are by their energy, although D. I. D is based off a sad experience I see so much value in it forcing people to use their hearts to understand who a person is rather than preconceived labels and societal 'norms' .. In other words.. Humanity benefits from understanding this.
@@kkibela its based off of sad and traumatic experiences, but it shows the strength of human spirit, to be able to see the different paths of energy a person has visibly 'come out and show themselves' . These personalities may be based on trauma, but the personality itself and alters is not neccesarily a bad thing. its different parts of what would have been a complete personality standing up and asserting themselves... even if the brain didnt feel like it could do it as a single unit, it created a whole army of 'people' who are all a little bit of you who are willing to stand up and defend and fight for you and that is really a beautiful thing.
(i dont know if i explained well how i was thinking about it but.... bleh its late and im tired. lol. ) i think you kind of get it anyway, based on your previous comment :)

When we are inside we generally have groups we see/interact with regualry. (by we I mean most people with DID, not just my own experience) it's normal to be part of a group. Thats basically what our whole existence is like

I love these videos, just a full on one on one Alter and actor getting the inside and outside perspective.... but I also LOVE the alter day videos again getting to know each of you just that much better and feeling that much closer to you all even though we have NEVER met in real life thank you all of you for what you do. I realized today that you are like the classic Mythbusters in every video is entertaining but you also dispell pockets of ignorance while you entertain... you're all incredible people thank you again.

Such a cool video! I have a few technical notes for you that i hope will help you guys out in future.
1. Overall the composition and framing was nice, and cloudy days always give great lighting because it's diffuse. It was a good idea to take advantage of that. You want to be careful of having any screens in the background of filming because their refresh rate is always going to be out of sync with the camera's fps. That's why they appear to flicker. This can be distraction.
2. Micing up- Dave's mic is so close to his face that it's actually under it, so every time he turns away he sounds softer. you want the mic positioned more like Jamie's--lower and a little further away so it can catch more sound.
3. Think about the direction he will be talking in, relative to the camera and to other people. Jamie's mic picked up sound better because the camera and Dave are in roughly the same direction, so he doesnt have to look back and forth, whereas Dave had to keep turning to make sure it felt like he was addressing both Jamie AND the camera. If they were at a smaller table Dave could both have been positioned at the same angle as Jamie and you would have had nicer sound. Would have been slightly nicer framing for Dave too.
4. While you're at it you might as well have a quick look into mono/unidirectional vs omnidirectional mics just so you can see some diagrams and get a better idea of what sounds some mics vs others are designed to pick up, and from where.
3. If you get sound like this, you should boost Dave's voice a little because overall he sounds quieter than Jamie. Audacity is a great free program for audio editing that i use all the time. Very happy to show any of Team M&M a few tricks if you want. But basically you want to use a noise removal tool to cut out all background noise, then boost Dave's voice, then add some new background noise in at a lower level so it still sounds natural. The BG noise was a little loud here, tho not terribly so.
4. For more control over adding background noise, one of the handiest tips I ever learned was to record a nice amount of background noise in the exact same location either right before or after you do the interview. 5 mins would work well for an interview this long. Then you just add that in over and over again in the background. The end result sounds completely natural but better :)
Overall tho this video was a pleasure to watch.
As a former journalist myself, Jamie is a fantastic interviewer and some of his questions are absolutely inspired. I LOVED the 'what advice would you give to someone else to play me' question, it was next level. And Dave's responses were fascinating.

I appreciate the continuity between these meet-the-actor videos. I notice Dave is answering from Jamie some of the very same questions Ed asked of Tom. They're good questions, and it's nice to hear the two actors' responses to them. It's nice to see the hard work that's gone into preparing this.

It's so great seeing so many DID channels that are working to end the stigma. Everyone is so positive, and that's wonderful. But what does a bad day for a system look like? I realize no one wants to share their worst days on camera. But I never see any examples of what it's like when things aren't going well for whatever reason, and how that impacts a system, or how they work through it.
That might be too personal tho

The way he explained the planning side of making sure that Jess didn’t get overwhelmed and if it got to that point they’d just do it another day is so Jamie... I just started watching but from what I’ve gathered so far that’s basically one of Jamie’s main roles in the system is sort of that planning/protecting role.

Stephen Fry and Robin Williams did meet. There's one story that Stephen told that's actually quite sad.
He was backstage at a big gala show while Robin was onstage. When Robin came off, Stephen said to him, "You make them all so happy."
And Robin replied, "I wish I could make myself happy."

I feel like all the actors are going to be best friends with their alter counterparts.
any game of menopoly i'd played so far has mostly decended into madness. first round everyone's good, trying to get chance cards hoping not to go to jail or just plain thinking bout witch blocks you'd want. once everyones gone round once then it starts. buying the streets you want (with right amount of money) trying not to go broke don't get in jail want multiple turns but not like three or you go to jail. try or hope person in front falls behind or loses money. if your in back hope to get infront . midle mostly content. friendly banter maybe a passive agressive banter over one propity deal making . digging holes under someone to make your win faster or esier. man just pure madness if it last longer then 2 hours. also where do the hours go like it was 1;34 pm now it's like 8;57 at night.
Can you show us the process of finding these actors and the criteria because I feel like it’s hard to find actors that not only look similar to the alters but also present them in a very realistic and incredible way
The director in the lives I lead documentary found them 😊 you can google acting directories and search many sites (some are closed only to agencies), but you can still get a large pool of choice!
Kind of wish Jamie & Dave were both wearing their glass haha 20:37 Piano is definitely an instrument that you gotta build up muscle memory for in the finger's and then there's hand-eye coordination and that's just another can of wrooms lol

*It's really great* how comfortable they are talking to each other or so I'm guessing. Jamie seems really outgoing and Dave although quieter (unless that's mic position) seems comfortable as well. *That was cool* when Dave says with two it's Chess and he and Jamie end up saying the same thing at the end about it being a classic. *Dave's trying not* to be distracted by squirrel (SQUIRREL!) and I'm trying not to be distracted by T.V. (with the lines/flashing going on while filmed) in the background lol. *Totally Random Question* that popped into my head when I was watching this: Do Alters have last names? Jess's Alters that is, not all DID systems as a whole. *I bolded the* first 3 words instead of putting it all in a paragraph...not sure why, but I did it lol.
I sense an honest friendship between the two.
