In his photos Nicholas looks so mild-mannered and sedate; I nevr imagined him having such a resonant voice as i heard here.

Oh. My. Gosh. This is fantastic... certainly what I expected at all. It's quiet a nice voice to say the least... I was just reading how he read to his family at night and I can only imagine how wonderful that must have been :) What a lovely man... horrible Tsar but such a lovely man in so many ways. Now I wish I could hear the rest of his family! :D
I agree with you that the Bolsheviks were awful, but I'm afraid my point still stands. There was little to no freedom under his reign, and yes he did create a Duma but he didn't take it seriously and filled it with people who would bend to his will. He was NOT that peaceful of Tsar. He got Russia involved in two horrible wars that coast the lives of millions, and it was his unwillingness to listen to his people that led to his down fall. A lot of people suffered under his reign and a lot of people died. I'm not saying what replaced Tsarism was better-because it was absolutely not. I'm saying that Nicholas was a horrible Tsar because he refused to see what was going on around him, and that was what led to his downfall.

ujump411 I heard that his daughters made recordings of their own voices for their grandmother, the Dowager Empress. No one knows if she took the recordings with her to Denmark, if they were lost or destroyed during or after the revolution, or if they're somewhere in the archives just waiting to be found. If they do still exist somewhere, I hope they will be released to the public someday.

Все драгоценности, что были надеты на царице, княжнах, царе и царевиче Юровский, комендант Ипатьевского дома попросил снять, уложил в шкатулку и закрыл её на ключ. Шкатулка стояла в комнатах семьи. Регулярно Юровский приходил и при всех её открывал, демонстрируя содержимое. Но большое количество бриллиантов, других драгоценностей было зашито в платья княжон и царицы. Вот вам и повод для расстрела! После расстрела царской семьи Юровский был переведён в Москву и возглавил алмазный фонд страны.

+Gazzara5 I don't think he ever truly had the chance. Whether down to being naive or just incompetent, I think he genuinely had no idea what was coming. Like all Monarchs, they are raised to believe that they are appointed to their position by God. I think that coupled with his relatively carefree, happy, comfortable family life led to him being completely blindsided. By the time he understood what was happening, it was too late IMO. It's a shame, really. I've always felt that Nicholas II would've been a great Tsar had Russia been a constitutional monarchy. His personality was far better suited to that role than it was the role of an absolute ruler.

Your opinion is very subjective and speculative. Russia was not ready for a constitutional monarchy, as, indeed, and for a republican system. Emperor Nicholas II led the handle the Russian society to adult life, step by step, expanding the society to manage public affairs. However, the plot was organized by the British Embassy and the security services, an unexpected blow in the back loyal ally broke public administration and destroyed the Russian state itself. dvoynik_nikolay You are right, of course. My comment is pure speculation. I didn't actually know Nicholas II, nor was I alive during his reign. I can only comment on my own perception of him while looking back in history. I just always found him to be a rather nice character. Certainly not the evil tyrant he is (sometimes) made out to be. Perhaps my perception of his personality being better suited to a constitutional monarch's role comes from the fact that he seemingly had such a pleasant, easy-going countenance. I have a difficult time understanding how someone like him, who seems both charismatic and honorable, could manage to allow millions of his own people to live in such extreme poverty and hunger. I suppose, though, that lends credence to your suggestion that he was overthrown by western governments. The story I was taught of the Romanovs just doesn't fit the historical evidence of what he was actually like. What happened to him and his family was such a tragedy IMO. An unnecessary, brutal tragedy. If Western governments had a hand in that massacre, then I feel deeply ashamed.

Все, что меня интересовало я уже прочла о царской семье , меня по школьным учебникам тоже учили не уважать Царя , а чтить Ленина и революцию. Если Вам больше по душе такой политик после царя как Сталин, с его репрессиями, лагерями то у всех вкус разный...Царь написал отречение во имя народа и не предполагал такого развития событий, мне его искренне жаль...

Заговорщики так сделали. На самом деле многие люди все равно бы выполнили его приказ.
Но он думал, что так лучше будет и кроме того боялся, что жену могут убить, а дети пострадают.
А генерал Иванов нарушил приказ и не взял их под охрану.

I think that song is the homesickness march.It's extraordinary to hear the voice of the last tsar. I wouldn't have expected the technology to have worked outside of a recording studio.

Lamentablemente, no los rodearon los personajes más sensatos, a la hora de conducir políticamente al Imperio Ruso, y hubo mucho secretismo en torno a la hemofilia del zarevitch, lo que despertó rechazo y desconfianza.
Los repudiaron el pueblo hambriento y los ambiciosos de turno, de esa forma, el movimiento bolchevique encontró un excelente caldo de cultivo.
Leí una biografía de los Romanov, en que el autor manifiesta su opinión que Nicolás II habría sido un gran monarca constitucional.
Con todo, aborrezco la masacre del zar y su familia. Alevosía total.

Но интересно другое - уже в 60-ых, 70-ых годах (СССР ещё живёт и здравствует) Ленин был далеко не любимой личностью в народе. Анекдоты про него и его картавость, особенно доставляли. А ведь прошло всего каких то 40 лет, а народ, который поддержал его победой в Гражданской войне, уже ржёт над ним и уж тем более не молится как на вождя мирового пролетариата, хотя рекламные плакаты висели повсюду. Хороша страна, где главная идеологическая личность - объект насмешек, а политбюро - дом престарелых маразматиков, где Брежнев еле передвигается и читает по бумажке? А так же видимость народного выбора на президентских выборах, так как выбирают из предложенных и выбор всегда не велик. Да и если повезет с выбранным президентом, его срок слишком маленькое время, чтобы созидать, другой приходит и все меняет, как Медведев со своим часовым поясом и так далее. В общем вывод: соглашусь с Императором Александром III - "Конституция? Чтоб русский царь присягал каким-то скотам?"
