I love how when Jessica and Viola speaks everyone just stares at them with such adoration and respect.
Viola hands down is the best motivational speaker & does the best interviews!
I love it too they've earned it beautiful powerful women
Working theory.... Viola Davis does acting as a hobby because her real job is motivational speaking. Wow does she have a way with words! Every time I hear her speak I feel like I am at church. Preach beautiful lady, preach!
Brilliant comment!! I think the same. Love her.
Haha I love it!
+Danielle Belisle i know right, she has that calming vibe,
+Danielle Belisle You've hit the nail on the head! Every time she opens her mouth, I could feel my senses and attention levels spike up.
Am I the only one that doesn't like how she speaks?! You described it perfectly, it seems like she is preaching, like she feels that whatever she says is going to be profound.... I guess if people think that what she says is amazing & enlightening then she has a reason to think she is so great.
Trust Viola Davis to just tell the truth most people are not ready for...love her.
+Yamkela Grey ikr i noticed how the host was low key rude for trying to discredit her experience
+adfvssl011 yes. Her face.... Lol
i dont think she was trying to be rude i thought it was her trying to be nice
are you being funny? BAGELBOY -YT
I honestly thought she was trying to be nice and reassure her that she was great in the role, but I agree I thought it came across as rude.
I love how Taraji so absolutely, unabashedly loves and promotes herself
That's that Southeast, DC state-of-mind! Her accent is also pure DC! Taraji is unchangingly real. She has the unbridled confidence that all of these women must possess--especially once they enter their forties in the misogynistic Hollywood industry.
@20:40
Maggie Gyllenhaal: "Hearing that you're not sexy enough"
Everyone else: "Oh yeah have heard that before!"
Jessica Lange: SILENCE
+Eddie1919
So true, No false modesty from her.
+Eddie1919 i have a hard time believing anyone would say that to lizzy caplan, she's the hottest out of everyone on that table.
+Ngéntot McKontolssen After listening to all these intelligent women, all you can say is Lizzy Caplan is the "hottest" at the table?
jennbeth1 yea, why you jealous?
+jennbeth1 Taraji, viola, then Lizzy.
I love the way that both Jessica and Viola look at each other when they're talking! It's a look of respect and admiration.
Yes - I saw that too.
Yes!Viola is the best actor & speaker!Yet she listens & shows respect to others.
Viola Davis: true class. Whenever she speaks, nobody interrupts her, they all listen in awe.
I love how Jessica Lange talks with her hands.
I love Taraji. Love her energy. Her spirit. Her joy. She is so alive.
+TheAmazingElexcia Taraji is EVERYTHING! Empire is my favorite show on TV right now!
+CassieJazz96 she is the only reason i watch it
kananelo melissa Phakisi Same.
RIP to Jessica Lange. She ain't even dead she just ain't in this season
When Viola Davis talks you damn well know you stay quiet and you listen. Unbelievable woman full of intelligence, warmth and her presence is extraordinary. She's my Emmy winner out of the pure quality of her work.
Ruth Wilson truly is a force to be reckoned with. She is not only an extraordinary actress, but a truly intelligent and beautiful woman. Do yourself a favour and watch The Affair and Luther!
I took your advice. I just started watching The Affair. It's such a compelling and well-made show. Ruth Wilson and Dominic West are incredible. Great show to binge-watch too!
+Delphine Carson YES! I just wish they'ed bring her character back to the show - her chemistry with Idris Elba practically jumped off of the screen.
Yup! True dat!
My absolute favorite female sociopath.
I’d love a two hour long interview with just Viola and Jessica. Omg That would be amazing. They are amazing, fascinating, insightful, brilliant, accomplished actors that have endless wisdom.
Viola Davis is such a great actress. She has a passion for acting and this is proof by how emotional she gets when she responds
I come back to this all the time. Jessica Lange was like 65 y/o here and she looks so amazing. The short hair, the red lipstick, the black thigh dress. Wow.
I absolutely love Viola Davis, I could hear her talk for hours.
She's got one of those commanding, well enunciated stage voices. Cate Blanchett has it too.
Same!
Viola Davis is the first person I've ever heard to speak with palpable emotion.
i loved Ruth in Luther so so much! Also, I love how this group of women listens, and supports each other
Same !!!
I would willingly offer myself to sit and shut up all day just to listen to Viola.
Words can't describe how much I love Viola Davis. She is everything.
Listening to Ruth Wilson discuss this now with hindsight is fascinating. All of the turmoil that ultimately led to her leaving the show was happening at the time of this interview & continued into 2016/2017. Her measured tones and well-chosen wording, around what unbeknownst to most she was actually experiencing, carry a weight now that we obviously couldn't have appreciated at the time.
Jessica is absolutely fabulous and talented...yet humble , shy and not self-centered.
Ruth Wilson, what a queen. One of the most talented and intelligent actresses out there.
Viola Davis
is
a
GODDESS
Yeahh
I love everyone in this round table especially viola and Jessica Lang
I live for Viola, she's so gorgeous and such an amazing actress. Television would be much better off with more women like her
I
True 💯!
Voila's voice is so poetic
Viola´s voice soothes me so much shes so fantastic in HTGAWM, also Jessica is a delight and Taraji, she is absolutely brilliant.
Taraji as a Bond Girl...I love it!!! That's a movie I want to see!
itzpapalotl13 Proud Mary is soon to be released in theater's.
Agree
All these actress are so wonderful to watch. I could listen to them talk forever.
Viola and Ruth at the same round table!! Wow two of my favourite actresses, esp Viola..she is head and shoulders in her class!!
I came here for Ruth Wilson
Taraji, Viola, and Jessica Lange ❤️❤️❤️❤️
These women are amazing!! One of my very favorite round tables!!!
Ruth Wilson has a really nice speaking voice, as well as talented too.
I was too busy too watch the entire thing. Did she speak much? I saved it just in case she did.
+Denise Noles I believe she has. I was mesmerised by Maggie G's performance on The Honourable woman (with her very convincing British accent) thus i watched this interview but i never knew R Wilson is actually British. In the end all the actors are brilliant in this interview. I recommend you watch it if you have the time. :-)
Arthur Raincoat Thank you for the information. I will definitely check it out.
taraji is amazing i never knew she was so passionate..love how outspoken and devoted she is
This is inspiring. And surprise: Jessica Lange seems shy.
Maggie Gyllenhaal is breathtakingly beautiful. I think her short hair brings out her fierce eyes. She might not have always been super confident but she sure as hell owns it now.
+Leah Marie I agree, I've had a big crush on her since "Stranger Than Fiction"
I loved her in Mona Lisa smile
I love her... She's on it I watch it.. Her voice Lord 🥰 🥰 🥰 🥰
*This is the BEST Roundtable Panel that I've seen. No narcicistic postar in it but just real working actresses.. Plus Jessica talks more on here and there's Viola of course*
Lange's response when asked about her experience and the way she talks about acting is so inspiring as an artist.
I thought I couldn't love Viola anymore than I already do, but when she said her favorite guilty pleasure was "Snapped"??? My love for her escalated to a level beyond the heavens, cuz Lawd knows I could watch a week-long Snapped marathon. That is my show!!!
booginas my mom is so into Snapped...
The way some of these men done did me in mind my life, they lucky my ass ain't ended up on an episode.
I first saw Maggie Gyllenhaal in, "Secretary." At first I thought, "She's not so special." Then... OMG. When the film ended, I said: "This woman is going to be GREAT" I was correct. One more thing...
As I was walking down a little Manhattan street several years ago, she walked right past me, and her magnetism nearly knocked me over. This woman has charisma to spare, absolutely amazing.
Jessica Lange is just unbelievable. Unparalleled beauty. There's something magical about her.
Jack Nicholson called her a goddess after they starred together in The Postman Always Rings Twice. Wise man.
Viola looks BEAUTIFUL...that gorgeous skin color...
I don't know why, but I just love watching, and hearing Viola davis talk. Could listen to her words for hours, it has so much wisdom inside for some reason
You're not alone!Millions feel the same about Mrs.Davis !Many admit it,many don't!She's the reason I & most ppl tuned in!
Because she's real, genius, wise, charismatic, kind, outspoken, willing to teach but will listen!
maggie has the sweetest voice.
I was waiting a long time for this.
***** vitorinho, now your life's complete .
Jessica Lange will always be the Supreme.
I prefer the triple crown of acting & EGOT,Mrs.Viola Davis!
at last the whole roundtable!! Thanks a lot!!
I'm in love with Viola, i always look forward to her speaking because I know I am gonna be blown away by her take on her work as an actress.
I really enjoyed this roundtable. They're all lovely and excellent actresses.
Maggie's voice is absolutely the sweetest thing everrrrr! She's really charming
Intelligent and inspiring beautiful women, I love this roundtable!!
This is the best roundtable I've seen. Just pure talent and humbleness from all six women, lovely to see!
Viola Davis, awesome actress and beautiful said in this interview. Amazing!
listening to this was exactly what I needed
Viola and taraji should do a movie together !!
1:44, I almost forgot that was Janice Ian in Mean Girls lol
NICE WIG, JANICE...WHAT'S IT MADE OF?
@@SolarSystemSiren YOUR MOMS CHEST HAIR!!
I love the way they look at each other, with genuine interest and respect.
Viola Davis & Taraji P. Henson
Yassssss
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙌🏼
Finally a THR comment section where people are actually talking about the talk itself and not complaining about the interviewer - she did a really good job - let the conversation flow and yet got everyone to talk about their movies. That's how you do it Stephen Galloway!!
viola davis skin,omg!!youre gorgeous woman!
I love this series! Viola Davis is the best actress I’ve ever seen.
Holy fuck. Jessica Lange is a goddess. When she says "but your arms ARE perfect" & sits back to sip her water. I can't.
Viola's arms are fabulous!I hate when Viola talks down on herself & don't see her own beauty as Taraji & other women !
@synthiasimms4608 she gets on my nerves with that crap
Just watching Jessica Lange in this makes me believe that she could've played The Dragon Lady in the devil wears prada...
Channel Fekitoa Most definitely.
Yes and August Osage County would have been brilliant with her
Props to Viola and Jessica. When they speak, class is in session.
I could listen to Viola Davis talk all day! Gosh I love her!
What a fantastic group of individuals:)
And Violas skin is fantastically luminous. Wow!
AND MORE?? You're not even going to include the legendary Jessica Lange in the title?
those unfortunately are not who the viewers of this channel are most interested in. younger crowd who mostly don't appreciate Lange except from American Horror Story
Natalie Salajczyk That’s just not true. If anything the younger crowd loves her. Every young person doesn’t simply know her from AHS.They just didn’t put her name in the title.
I didn’t know Jessica was on this video that’s why I never watched it before. I am young and I am more interested in Jessica than in anyone else in that table.
Viola, Ruth AND tajiri???? My heart 😩 I love Ruth just from Luther
how can you not love Viola Davis! This was amazing loved it so much.
Can't wait to see Viola as The Wall in Suicide Squad next year. Hopefully she has a scene with Batfleck, those Waller/Batman scenes in the JL show were always my favourites.
Jessica Lange is stunning!
I watched this roundtable so many times. This is by far the best THR roundtable.
I loved watching Ruth Wilson, in the series Luther, she was so amazing!
Viola Davis is glowing 😍😍😍😍
After watching a number of these I have to say, I like the format but I wish the host would use a few more pointed questions to bring in the opinions of the quieter voices at the table. I really think this table, and viewers of it, would have benefited so much more from more Jessica Lange opinions and views.
53:04 Viola Davis on roles she'd like to play. Wow, she's amazing!
I'm glad Taraji took the role of Cookie, bc after she left POI. I had missed Carter, but then she came back in that episode when Reese was shot and I was so happy to see Taraji back even if it was just for one episode. I was so happy, bc now I can't stop watching Empire bc I still bingewatch it from the pilot episode. Cookie is my fav character now that she plays... and I'm so glad Taraji stayed to play Cookie. One, bc Taraji's badass and Two, everyone around the world think Taraji playing Cookie is badass. :)
I love the flecks of grey in Maggie Gyllenhaal's hair. She owns it!
RIP to Jessica Lange. She ain't even dead she just ain't in this season
This was such an engaging episode. It's official, I think I'm addicted to this inspiring series.
Taraji seems like such a cool person.
I live for these! Hopefully Julianna can be in the next one
Simon Wilson I'm fairly certain she's participated in past roundtables, if not by Hollywood Reporter than definitely Variety's.
Simon Wilson Julianna is in one every single year. Glad she was left out of this one.
+Simon Wilson who is julianna?
+florzinnha Julianna Margulies, she is the lead actress on the Good Wife.
+Simon Wilson She usually comes off as bit of a self-important bitch, so glad she's absent this time around.
I see Tatiana Maslany is missing.
Hailtothegun These are made before the actual Emmy nominations announcements. They don't know who's going to be nominated, but they always do a good job on these round tables.
+Hailtothegun I'm sure this is also based on availability, not merely who they believe is talented.
+Hailtothegun She's on the comedy actresses one
+MrLasveguinhas You're wrong about that. The comedy actress one already came out, check the channel.
+MrLasveguinhas You must not know who Tatiana Maslany is if you say she's on the comedy actresses roundtable.
Amazing!!Lovely ladies!! Super admire!! Jessica looks amazing and she is one of my favorite actresses of all times!!
Thank you THR! I love these ladies equally. But Jessica Lange has the best style.
6:10 - The moment Jessica Lange and myself realises that Maggie G.. Loves, loves to talk too much. 😂 And she's going to talk.. More...
This was excellent!! Thanks Hollywood Reporter~
This interviewer is so much better than the one that does the male roundtables. So much more relaxed and actually lets people finish their sentences.
Here for Maggie and Lizzy Caplan.
This is a really good roundtable.
The best THR roundtable, or at least, my favorite :D
Thnk you to the host for not interupting and letting this be a true roundtable discussion
Viola always keeping it real!
I've never seen any of these shows, but now I'm really interested. Each of these women is so invested and passionate about her work that you can't help getting on board.
Amazing conversations.
I think that's my favorite roundtable so far.
that top that viola davis is wearing it compliments her skin perfectly. And all these women are beautiful. and so real
lawd god i wanna be an actor so badly but like im so afraid because these amazingly talented women struggle with getting typecasted roles
I've been waiting so long for this!
Damn, all these incredible talents together is so enjoyable. I mean, Viola Davis, first of all - enough said. I also really want to shout out Ruth Wilson - so underrated. Also, Jessica Lange is my Meryl Streep. No shade, but this woman is utterly talented.
