I have read the manga completely and I noticed that Oikawa's diabolical serve is simply him swinging his arm like a slingshot with more power and momentum. kind of like Ushijima's southpaw spike
A little bit of math: Oikawa's jump is 3/5 on the wiki, we Don't have exactly how high he jumps, but we Know that Hinata (5/5 jump) jumps 120cm, so we can say Oikawa jumps 3/5 of 120cm which is 72 cm. What makes this more terrifying is my volleyball team has a 6’5 guy who pretty much does this exact serve. Even as his teammates, we’re all terrified of him accidentally messing up and hitting us, so we literally clear a path for him whenever he serves xD
still my favorite serve throughout the entire series. nothing beats the incredible emotional stakes of this final game between karasuno and seijoh and oikawa is truly the final boss of haikyuu
The reason for the animation change is because the old director got fired or he quit and also the animators were being overworked to make most of these scenes look crispy and nice
I mean the animation still looks pretty clean crispy when the animators aren’t from a different studio, and the first half looks just as crispy as the other seasons, the only problems I see with the second half is that some of the episodes don’t have consistency within the animation and that the ball doesn’t have the same ripple and feel of the pressure it used too. A good example is a comparison between Bokuto’ alone shot shot in part 1 of s4 and Tanaka’s line shot in part 2, if you look at them you’ll notice the ball only ovals when Tanaka hit it (the scene is still awesome however) compared to when Bokuto line shotted where it properly compressed and the impact rippled across the ball. This is honestly a nit pick though, and the animation still has a lot of incredible moments, so overall it’s only a light dip in quality/consistency.

Okay for those arguing for who the better setter is either oikawa or miya. As a volleyball player, I can confirm that their skill sets are kind of different just because they are two different person. One has the better skills alone while the other is better with others. That is why one of them likes to play around with their spikers because he is confident that with his sets, he can get the spikers to score but for the other one, he is able to make his team trust and learn how each individual spiker moves, jumps and spikes. That is why miya said “those who can’t hit my sets just sucks” which means he wants the spikers to adjust to his sets because he is confident with his sets while oikawa is the one to adjust to his spikers that is why he can easily understand the sets needed for the spiker that is why even though the spikers he is setting to are total strangers or not teammates but oikawa can somehow catch up in learning the strengths and weaknesses of that spiker. 😊

I think that miya rather meant that he is giving his best set to a spiker so he should give his 100% to make a point. If he didnt adjust to his spiker he wouldnt be a good setter. Have the take his arm length above his head away since that's not what's hitting the ground, left with 9.078 feet. Subtract Oikawa's height since we have to measure vertical, end up with 3.032 feet or about a 92 centimeter vertical. Calculate the general falling speed since it's only the same in a vacuum, takes him 0.410 seconds to hit the ground directly after he hits the ball. The ball hits the ground about 0.370 seconds after contact. Given he probably made contact at or right before his line, and it lands a couple feet behind Karasuno's line, we'll say 63 feet. This means his serve was about 116 mph (186 km/h), purely horizontal. Less impressive than the 151 mph but still far exceeding the current world record.
Daichi is such an incredible serve receiver that he was able to take one of oikawa's diabolical serves ( oikawa has excellent ball control that's why nishinoya was not able to receive - I think he probably moves on instinct and Daichi reads form so he was able to take ushijima serves as he has overwhelming power + southpaw not ball control ).)You can tell that only some ( probably yaku ) can take it . Daichi is such an incredible serve receiver that he was able to take one of oikawa's diabolical serves ( oikawa has excellent ball control that's why nishinoya was not able to receive - I think he probably moves on instinct and Daichi reads form so he was able to take ushijima serves as he has overwhelming power + southpaw not ball control ).)You can tell that only some ( probably yaku ) can take it . I possibly think not in the entire miyagi prefecture.
