I just saw Everybody's talking about Jamie and this is the song that had me weeping. I lived through those years and it was my life as well as millions of others. We lost loved ones and were scared we would be next, so we partied like there was no tomorrow because for some of us that was true. For those of us who survived we carry the burden of remembering for those we lost, and reminding the children who follow us of the battles we fought for their freedom. As a young person, don't dismiss the old LGBTQ+ people. The old gay man in the wheelchair fought longer and harder and lost so much more than you can imagine. The woman tending her garden alone, she lost the love of her life that she met marching against anti-gay legislation and had everything taken from her on her partners death because she wasn't allowed to marry and the family swooped in and stole everything. The trans woman still fighting for recognition and acceptance in her 60's, she has endured more hardship, pain and sorrow than any human should have to endure. We fought for your right to walk down the street, to dance in heels, to kiss and to marry. Be happy, love who you want to love, and give a hug to the old gay and lesbians and trans men and women who made it possible.
Utterly brilliant yet totally heartbreaking. The song captures my teenage years and early twenties . I still remember where I was when I heard Freddie had died and being numb with shock and sorrow. Dan this is the best song you ever wrote, a magnificent tribute to all those lost pretty peacocks.
i was five when Freddie died. Too young to know that I was in his community, and that I'd lost someone who would mean a lot to me someday. I knew of AIDS, because what child didn't, but it was when i came out as trans that the full scale of what we lost hit me. an entire generation of LGBT people were just GONE. this song is something special. I've never heard a musical number that has moved me so profoundly as this.
I had no interest in watching Everybody's Talking About Jamie until I discovered this song and found out that the music is by The Feeling. I've been listening to this song constantly along with their latest album.
People need to be reminded. As awesome as it is that this generation doesn't have to fight as hard as we did back then sometimes freedom is taken for granted at the expense of our lost peacocks.
Let me tell ya how it used to go Freddie playing on the radio The Iron Lady couldn't stop the show We felt like we could fly Poisoned banter and a barbed remark Bette Davis doing Joan of Arc Dirty glamour dancing in the dark On days that wouldn't die When we felt like we could fly It was real love Look around and feel love Tearing up the floor Something we loved more More than life This was me We were children in the night Every star burned twice as bright We were tough and we could fight We held the line This was me Every sorrow had a song Every lost boy could belong We were young and never wrong And I was divine This was me This was me Every Friday we'd emerge reborn Keep on dancing till we saw the dawn Making history and breaking laws Oh God, how good that feels We were heroes in our heels This was me We were children in the night Every star burned twice as bright We were tough and we could fight We held the line This was me So adored and born again Just a smoking ten for ten I was beautiful back then Yes, I was divine Let me take you round the bars I knew The stars I knew The padded bras I knew The cobbled alleyways, the ways I knew The maze I knew The waifs and strays I knew I started singing to the way back when The wishing I could live it all again Now I pass it onto you We were dreamers, only just begun We were sinners playing in the sun Kept on partying till '91 Until that fateful day We were peacocks in exotic herds Wouldn't listen to the warning words That's the problem with such pretty birds They always fly away Even Freddie couldn't stay This was me Were we foolish to believe? That a painted face can't grieve We were hopelessly naive Just out of time This was me Every heart is made to break Sometimes love's a big mistake Every weekend was a wake But weren't we divine? This was me
That song brings me tears...This song deserves more!!! This song could have a video with the history of llgtb pride, like the movie..This song deserves more...Love from Greece....
I used to get called Queenie in one of my first ever jobs due to my love of all things Queen. Which I still have to this very day. The line about Freddie Mercury gets me every time! To hear this song in Everybody's Talking About Jamie as well. A great film that really hits you in the feels.
Eeekkk!! Yay! So good to see you back. My husband and I have your lyrics engraved in our wedding rings. Our son is a massive fan of yours too and we all sing along merrily. Welcome back 🎶
This was absolutely fantastic, I saw The Feeling by accident when I went to watch ELO at the Manchester arena U.K they were the support act, I didn't then really thought I had heard The Feeling before but when they came on I knew every word for every song, Would love to see them again .❤❤❤❤
more than 10 years ago, I8yrs me went to England from Japan with tiny wish to see the feeling for real. I still remember the time like yesterday. I am so happy to see you guys again.
A little bit of familiar and a little bit of new. Makes me think back with a little bit of reminiscent joy and pain. I can't wait to see the movie. Glad you're all back 🤗 Can't wait for the new album, it's so far away....🥺
The Feeling, I am so happy that you are back! Dan - your voice is beautiful as always, I love it so much! Can't wait to hear more songs and hopefully see you guys in concert too! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
such a beautiful song; the best song from the movie Everybody's Talking About Jamie. i like it so much; can listen to this song again and again; and so emotional. Thank you The Feeling
Very good song and you guys still look great. This song sent me back to that same era and one particular performance by Queen which I was very lucky to see. They were on their Highlander soundtrack tour, and the single It's a Kind of Magic was the hit from the album that was being played on the radio everywhere. So it was an outdoor gig on the grounds of the castle, with the stage set up in front of a river that ran across the grounds. The Bangles opened for Queen and were tons of fun because it was their first time in Europe (as a very excited Susanna Hoffs told us) and they were thrilled to be there. Then came the real magic. It had been pissing down rain the whole day, which continued when Queen came onstage and began their set. Finally they played their new hit song and I kid you not, just as Freddie got to the words "It's a kind of magic..." the clouds parted, a rainbow came out and shone across the river and the wet grass.
Brilliant song chaps. Love this version and love Holly Johnson’s vocal in the film. His voice just takes you right back to that time even without seeing the visuals.
Glad you see you all back, hope the lead singer is okay, looks like he has lost weight, maybe I'm just jealous because I've put it on, from the lads last single
Yet another great song by great band i was so looking forward to the new album which this track is supposed to be on but when i went to pre order the album this song does not appear on it , so is it or not on the new album?
Unfortunately a lot of artists dumb down their sound just to ensure radio play. Ed Sheeran is one of the lucky ones who writes bland music but it still sells by the bucket load. This isn’t a great song it’s very bland which is a shame and not memorable.
It's from a Musical, Dan Gillespie Sells wrote the music for Everyone is Talking About Jamie. This song takes me back to the 80s as I think that's what I get from watching the advert for the show. Even this video the music and background screams the late 80s. I Love It. But I've not seen Everyone is Talking About Jamie yet.

This features so brilliantly in the Everyone’s Talking About Jamie film, so much emotion, so moving

He wrote it with Holly Johnson, and it was Holly who sang it in the film.
When the date got to 24th November 1991, I knew what was going to happen 💔
I loved the musical onstage, but this is the song that brought me to tears in the movie. Bravo 👏🌈
Amazing track and should be included in the theatre production of Jamie
24th November 91 ….. i remember that day well…. RIP Fred, ….welcome back The Feeling…..
And ABBA 😉👌🏻

The fact that this joyous, celebratory, bitter, tragic, wrenching song didn't get an Oscar nomination for best original song is a scandal.
I had no interest in watching Everybody's Talking About Jamie until I discovered this song and found out that the music is by The Feeling. I've been listening to this song constantly along with their latest album.
Amazing song. Just watched Everybodys talking about Jamie, this song had me in tears. Beautiful 🥰
This helps the new generations understand the fight that the gays before us had and help us fully appreciate them
People need to be reminded. As awesome as it is that this generation doesn't have to fight as hard as we did back then sometimes freedom is taken for granted at the expense of our lost peacocks.
I lived through those years, I had forgotten the fear and the hard times, there was no sunshine just dark and even darker times
Heard this on Virgin Radio this morning - I didn't cry at the references to Freddie, honest - it just rained on my face... ❤️💔
Let me tell ya how it used to go
Freddie playing on the radio
The Iron Lady couldn't stop the show
We felt like we could fly
Poisoned banter and a barbed remark
Bette Davis doing Joan of Arc
Dirty glamour dancing in the dark
On days that wouldn't die
When we felt like we could fly
It was real love
Look around and feel love
Tearing up the floor
Something we loved more
More than life
This was me
We were children in the night
Every star burned twice as bright
We were tough and we could fight
We held the line
This was me
Every sorrow had a song
Every lost boy could belong
We were young and never wrong
And I was divine
This was me
This was me
Every Friday we'd emerge reborn
Keep on dancing till we saw the dawn
Making history and breaking laws
Oh God, how good that feels
We were heroes in our heels
This was me
We were children in the night
Every star burned twice as bright
We were tough and we could fight
We held the line
This was me
So adored and born again
Just a smoking ten for ten
I was beautiful back then
Yes, I was divine
Let me take you round the bars I knew
The stars I knew
The padded bras I knew
The cobbled alleyways, the ways I knew
The maze I knew
The waifs and strays I knew
I started singing to the way back when
The wishing I could live it all again
Now I pass it onto you
We were dreamers, only just begun
We were sinners playing in the sun
Kept on partying till '91
Until that fateful day
We were peacocks in exotic herds
Wouldn't listen to the warning words
That's the problem with such pretty birds
They always fly away
Even Freddie couldn't stay
This was me
Were we foolish to believe?
That a painted face can't grieve
We were hopelessly naive
Just out of time
This was me
Every heart is made to break
Sometimes love's a big mistake
Every weekend was a wake
But weren't we divine?
This was me
This is beautiful
Awesome song. I was a new nurse back then and remember 4:55

Unfortunately it's only featured on the digital edition.
Cool.
Awesome track! Looking forward to the new album!
I was young when I discovered u in vh1
Вау!!
Great (!) song, but not included on the cd............
I wonder why these people can't sell because it's a slightly good song ...
This got some west end girls vibes as well as video killed the radio star at some points. although I like it very much.
Great job 🔥🔥 i wish i can work with you i can send some beats by me you can sing on it 👍👍🔥
Not sure 🤔 not quite boy who cried wolf and certainly not twelve stops and home. It will grow on me but its very middle of the road. 😔
Sorry boys but it aint it

@@xbecxxx its made for a film (everybodys talking about Jamie) and makes more sense once you have watched it :)

Quite overproduced, doesn't really sound like humans playing. The idea of the song is fine but the drums sound electronic. This isn't the feeling.

Not divine! Poor preformance! I'm yet to see and feel any emotions from this hack
This "hack" wrote the song.
