Hi Strings & Things!!! Thanks very much for taking the time to leave a note! We did the towing with the ZX Sahara, as the GR Sport wasn't set up for towing at the time, and just reversed up for a look at the features. Will be interesting to see how the V6 and twins will hold up over time. It is common knowledge that the smaller engine is going to be worked harder leading to more wear on engine components. A question I always have when I come across the LC300 on RUclips videos like this is how will the new LC uphold the reputation carried through decades of predecessors? So what’s the difference bw sahara and gr on and off road? Does kdss that gr sport has gelp in cornring while onroad and does 3 do locks make a difference?
Thanks for the note vahid! Had 4 days on the beach recently with both models also, and both extremely capable, though the factory diff locks are great to have in the sticky spots for sure! Thanks again!
Well, T-Ford got 20 hp out of 2.9 litres. It was less stressed and it still didn't last 5% of what engines last now. By other words indeed the engine is more stressed (that kind of is the idea, because maximum efficiency is achieved at maximum engine load), but if the engine t is made to withstand that stress, it isn't necessarily a problem. I think bigger problem is probably the extra complexity.

Besides looking great, no mention of the 10 speed auto, just a superficial look, and nice camera work. Sponsored by Toyota?
It looks a bit like a Y62 V8 Patrol and shame on Toyota not to carry over the barn doors which have been a classic on all the land cruisers. I seriously hope Toyota bring back the barn doors I know a LOT of people who want the barn doors.
Hi Do you need some great lighting for your car to help you better driving, off-roa? We're the pro auto lighting manufacturer for nearly 20 year and we're looking for sponsorship!
Respect your opinion however the test drive of the 300 was the most underwhelming experience I’ve had for a long time. I've owned a 100 series and presently own a 2020 plate 200 Sahara. I was seriously thinking of hoping into a 300 but after a good solid, long test drive it was a complete fail for me. In my opinion the 300 sounds and feels like a big tinny coke can on wheels. On paper it has more power and torque, but it just doesn’t equate to on road feel when compared to the 200. I’m 6ft 4” tall and the driver’s seating position is all wrong for me no matter how you adjust the seats, and the loss of room is keenly felt as I felt hemmed in on all sides. It felt like I was sitting in a Camry not a Landcruiser. The dash instrument panel is obstructed by the steering wheel and the view out of the windscreen is diminished compared to the 200. Losing the split tail gate is horrendous and for me the new tailgate doesn’t open high enough and I need to duck to walk under it to gain access to the cargo area something I don't have to do in the 200. I love Toyota’s but sadly the 300 is a step backwards in my humble opinion as an owner/operator of a mechanical workshop with 25 years’ experience in the industry along with a history in competitive rally driving.
After 5 Landcruiser Sahara’s imho I believe the “King is Dead”. Toyota have gone the route of pleasing markets and not real users. No GVM / GCM upgrade, no space for a dual battery, five seater (a WTF moment), no “table” in the tailgate and of course the “unjustified” price increase. Cannot wait for the feedback and Toyota’s reaction which will be “zero”
Customers are better off, getting it imported direct from Japan, from a Private Importer.. It's probably about "10 months" waiting period.. And save Big $$$ for the TOP Spec, plus 7 seater! your paying $104k!! But shipping, and other costs, may apply.. still your saving $$$$.... Don't let the Dealers take your hard earned $$$..
Here is a couple of things that are not so good. Because Toyota are supplying the vehicles being tested no one, absolutely no one has got a negative word to say about them. Any bad points are simply ignored so it will be interesting to compare when the 300’s are available to the public. That one piece tailgate is a step backwards for most buyers and it looked like it came very close to your jockey wheel. I like the level stance of the 300 compared to the bum up stance on previous models. It’s disappointing that the car is fitted with cameras all around but owners have no way of using them as a dash cam. The police can request footage in the advent of an accident ect so why can’t owners access it? To me it looks more of an upgrade than a new model except for the difference between the 100 & 105 this would have to be the least changed design. It’s still a good looking car and my preferred choice of 4x4, and they’ll sell as many as they can make. Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺
I guess. As we all get older we all get softer. Its not a real landcruiser. Its a derivative of the US Tundra. The 70 series is the last of the true cruisers. Bring on the Ineos Grenadier to keep toyota on their toes. 300? Dumb tail gate, smaller fuel tank, busier engine continuing the silly air filter system. But hey! Apple play 🤦♂️
Well This tells me one thing. Toyota is now starting to abandon their grass roots buyer and chasing the corporate sunday pretend off road warrior. Sad but true. That new fancy pants tailgate is rubbish if you are towing something other than a small trailer. I will stick with my old troopie and 100 series. The landcruiser will rein no longer soon off the road
It can almost get into the same places as my H.Q ute, clearly designed for retirees with wobble boxes. Think I'll stick with my proper, capable Landcruiser 79 series. I look forward to recovering those who are mislead into believing these are capable off those gravel roads. But who knows when I'll get that chance,, could be years. Please leave the Landcruiser badges for real Landcruiser's.
You can buy 2 nissan patrols for one top spec landcruiser add to that a 3 year waiting list a highly complex twin turbo charged engine ( repairs in the outback impossible) , as well a False fuel economy numbers ( real life data showing the Landcruiser 200 using 25 % more fuel with a 3500 kg tow than the Patrol) , the Toyota buying positive reviews and negative false reviews against the Patrol will need to be operating in top gear to promote this overly complex massively over priced 6 cylinder dinosaur successfully. Can't even order one anyway.....
So you're not a fan? My order is in for a VX, I've got a Y62 for sale if your interested, very low K's only towed my van once. At 34L/100K I'm going back to a Toyota. My previous 200 at worst in a head wind up hill was doing 28L/100K. Average on round aus trip towing 3.5T and full cargo was 22L. That is about as good as it's getting in a car this size.
Hi Phil, I had a LC200 Sahara which I purchased earlier this year and traded it for a VX LC300 which I picked up early in December. I have managed to achieve 9.68 litres per 100 kms with 4 adults sitting on a 100kph. I have not towed with this vehicle at this stage. Personally, I can't think of one thing that the LC200 does better than the LC300. I would never go back to a LC200 after having owned this. The LC200 was a nice car BUT the LC300 is better. Enjoy your new LC300.
Outside looks so bland. Absolutely no imagination in the design. And the interior is way to cityfied. Wonder when Ineos will come out with their 'take' on how a Landcruiser should be. I will have a Grenadier thanks.
The vx at the dealer looks Chinese cheap with the rims. No mention of the actual fuel burn. Hardly going to get a real review from a toyota fan boy, the 200 was a off road dud, and an on road slug, if people are to be honest.

@Tony F Not yet. Delivery not expected until around September, so I'll wait.
Shows you how shit the 200 series is.
How is that??
@@djkramerd4582 200 series is a v8 new one is v6 qith more power and torque.
@@vaughanscott7308 correct, but higher tech so not as reliable and can't tune as much.. so not a good trade off
@@djkramerd4582 not sure i agree with that.
