I first learned to love this song when we (all the ninth graders of my town, multiple schools) sang it, as they did every Christmas, as a great massed choir. It probably was not very good, but it gave me goosebumps. Sure, it is a great song for grand choirs as well as for small groups. But what I really love now is to hear it sung by a solo artists. And not just any solo artist but one who brings magnificent, ringing clarity to it. I hear hardly anyone who can compare with the aptly named Miss Church. EDIT: Alas, I have concluded after a bit of Google research that Miss Church should keep her mouth shut when not singing.
This girl truly could sing, voice of an angel no question, tone, pitch, clarity, hitting the high notes no voice deviation. She had it all, pity she threw it away, then again so much pressure put on her from such a young age.
The LORD GOD YHWH has commanded me to comment on Charlotte Church and her divinely inspired rendition of O' Holy Night. Her heavenly voice and lovely countenance are very angelic indeed. I feel she is one of GOD'S angels! It is most assuredly true that no other female singer has ever sung or performed this Sacred carol in the wonderful way she did at this time. It was truly phenomenal! So beautiful to behold! Her eyes and face were blissful as she looked heavenward. I believe that Charlotte did not become permanently vocally damaged as has been suggested. If there was a problem, it certainly was not caused through singing Sacred arias, hymns and carols. Having said this, her voice was far too divinely beautiful for worldly songs. It is worth considering too, that Charlotte, like other young musical prodigies, became adversely affected by the Godless worldly influences around her. She was simply too young to cope with it. Dear Charlotte, I know you are a mature woman now, someone who has been through many life experiences since then. It is true that you have been something of a success singing worldly cross over pop music songs. Having said that, your true calling is to sing Godly music. Please know you have Christian friends praying for you. We are praying that you hear the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. The LORD GOD YHWH and the Lord Jesus Christ really do love you and want to help you, through repentance and Divine Grace, be what you truly are, that is a Holy daughter of GOD. May the LORD be with you that you may be the Godly woman HE sent you to be. May the LORD help you regain the special angelic qualities you displayed in your amazing performance of this Sacred Christmas carol. For it is true that your feminine voice whilst singing this carol was as sublime and transcendent as Michael Crawford's masculine voice when he too sang this heavenly hymn. GOD bless you Charlotte!
