In a pride of lions, it’s always the female that does the hunting. It’s stated in undertale that when asgore and toriel were married, it was really toriel running the kingdom. So... that works out too!
Alright, I'm very confused as to why my comment just vanished... guess I'll just type it again, though maybe with a different wording.
I feel like this Theory is rather flawed, as it relies on comparing the UNDERTALE reality to our own reality's standards. While we in *this* reality wouldn't consider some of the characters as "monsters", the use of the word doesn't seem to share the same meaning in *their* reality.
In the past you've had theories pertaining only to UNDERTALE's lore and "laws of physics" if you will, but intertwining the laws of the two realities -- in my opinion -- has little value when trying to speak about only one of them. They *are* clearly different realities, after all.
Not much of a "Bizarre Truth" when you think about it. But hey, that's why we have theories, right? To figure all this stuff out?

Murray Keir also, hypothetically, we can give the monsters and magic as a biological organism itself; they are living. So with that information, if the magic itself is alive, animate or inanimate objects could potentially be infused with this. Even humans could become infused and possibly dissolve, though that’s a stretch because Frisk is just fine walking around.

This theory is utterly ridiculous. Saying they aren't monsters because they simply aren't "monsterous" according to how we would normally use that word, is quite illogical. Maybe it's just the name of their race, not the fact that they are scary or anything. This theory pretty much ignores the entire lore of the game! There'd be no point for Toby to make this true. Come on, Underlab you can do better than this!
Plus how would any of the "inanimate objects" turn to dust if they weren't monsters? Again, you're ignoring the entire plot and lore of the game and just classify monsters by our own standards of a monster, which as I said, makes little sense.
This is just as ridiculous as your "Chara wants to destroy everyone despite numerous pieces of evidence saying it's not true.
I agree with this but I think "monster" is the classification and that they have many different species, like how humans are class "homo" and species "sapien". Or maybe the species really is monster and there are many races/ethnicities. Only Toby Fox knows the answer.
I agree with you, when you play the game for first time, you get noticed that it says "Two races ruled the Earth, Humans and Monsters" making the idea that monster are a kind of specie independent if it contains monstrous characteristics or not. (Monstrous characteristics like if they're scary or spooky)

It really depends on what the definition of a "monster" is, given the many different kinds and families of monsters there are in the tiny stretch of the underground that frisk travels.
the only thing that truly sets them apart from a human, or a regular object/animal, yet shared by all monsters is the fact that their bodies are mostly magic, and their souls are weak and non-colored accordingly. Before the big war, there was likely some mystical way to check a soul since humans also wielded magic during that time.
while most monsters look very distinctly different than a human, the ones that look like regular things would be hard to find and thus trap underground without some spell or way to see their soul, and the more humanoid monsters would maybe even be able to disguise themselves to look human, thus needing to be soul-checked.
Their souls have color, just that toby did not color them for the sake of simplicity

I have 2 suggestions if thats ok! Even if there isnt much reaserch (too lazy for me) but here it is:
Why DID the 5 humans follow the path to the underground?
What is this about? you ask
Well then, i have a theory! A G- kidding, so the theory is based about "why did the other 5 human souls fall into the underground?" So i say that all of them were friends in the village (not chara cuz that was decades before) so when the second human soul fell (paitence) and died their closest friend knew that both of them knew about the rumour so when paitence fell and never returned, the close friend (bravery) was brave enough to go and find them, ending in the same fait, next comes perseverance , integritys honesty was her downfall because she told perseverance about what happened to paitence and bravery, perse wanted to know and she was interested about the monsters, so down she fell....sadly to be killed off by undyne or possibly even gerson (im guessing paitence died via flowey because she waited for the friendliness pelletes or she died of starvation thanks to toriel telling her to wait at the room and that bravery died fighting sans because toriel didnt give him the promise yet) integrity felt sad and blamed herself for perces death...so i guess you know what she did, survivng but later being killed by A) undyne B) gerson or C) she drowned when undyne or a monster knocked her into the rivers of waterfall, next was kindess, she didnt mean to fall....but justice was ready to jump down and serve the monsters some good justice but kindess stepped in and fell down, dragging justice with her, they died together, i dont know how but i hope you like this first theory!
The second one is that all the souls are related (or at least chara and frisk)
So to put this short, bravery is paitences brother, justice is kindess's brother, integrity is perseverance's sister and chara and frisk are sisters, hope you use these two theory's!

I think, in the reality if the game, "monsters" as a term encompasses the unmbrella of anything decidedly non-human and sentient. So a talking rock that can feel and speak could be a monster. Much like Geodude isn't just a magic rock in pokemon, it's an organism.

Because they are monsters, and because Mettaton Neo's body was real metal so when he died it was more like a (possessed) electronic device stopped working/became damaged beyond repair. If the damage was somehow fixable then he didn't really die and Alphys could rebuld his body later, but then the player's EXP and LV wouldn't have increased if he was still alive.

Hello Underlab again. hmmm pretty interesting theory you have here and it is kinda fresh so.
1. You based it off in real life which of course wouldn't fit seeing as our standards of what a monster is and what a monster in UT standards are very different.
2. You said that some monsters are possessed objects from the surface, But there is proof of why everything is a monster in the Underground, Remember that alphys said all monsters don't have physical forms which in turn debunks your idea of sans and papyrus being human skellingtons since when you kill them they turn to dust therefore making them human.
3. Sure we may not be able to kill nabsta or mad dummy since they are ghosts and frisk can't hit ghosts since they are incorporeal, we can take a look at the first dummy in the ruins since mad dummy says that the first dummy we encounter is his cousin and if we do kill the first dummy it turns to dust therefore we can assume that mad dummy and nabsta if they are able to be damaged they will turn to dust.
Overall this was a pretty nice concept for a theory and a bizzare one for sure but maybe next time atleast make some sense out of it?

Well I'm not really sure! I never thought about this really, it's kind of crazy, but it is a unique and interesting, I mean there is alot of ideas what monsters are, and it is interesting that they also have a sort of soul, or how would you see (Possessed objects) I'm not really sure about Napstablook, and in 2015 my thought when seeing (Sans, Papyrus) is how were they born, and how are they monsters if they're literally the human skeleton, but with voices, that is it I guess.
All the skeletal monsters are named after fonts, including W.D gaster(Wing Dings)

I have an idea that's sort of an opposite of the idea you proposed. Perhaps certain monsters were simply once animals or items that were in areas so heavily filled with magic that they ended up evolving at a much faster rate, which could explain why many things detail Humans as being unable to use magic yet a large part of Underground history is the 7 mages that sealed them under Mt. Ebbot, those magicians were simply around magic for such a constant amount of time that it became a permanent part of their soul

You know I suppose when there's magic literally everywhere around you all of the time, magic is bound to become a part of your own evolutionary traits, it may even be how Human magicians once existed yet many things in Undertale dictate Humans being unable to harness magic, the majority of Humans likely just didn't have enough magic around them for it to become a permanent staple of their soul

My little theory is that Undyne died, and she regrets being not armed with the right equipment. Now she hangs out with Perseverance or Alphys, just like they did when they weren't monsters.
Perseverance = Alphys, HOTLAND.
Because of their perseverance, they lived. I mean, Perseverance was most likely interested in science, just like Alphys. And, Alphys definetly persevered through many hard times with her experiments right?

Dogtroid was meant to be a track that went along with a cut feature within Undertale: if you beat the game within a certain amount of time, you'd get to see The Annoying Dog in a bikini, not unlike Samus in Metroid. Dogtroid has nothing to do with robotic dog suits.

Here's the thing: in Undertale, anything with a monster SOUL is a monster
First of all, I would like to point out that all monsters are completely different from any kind of animal in any way, shape or form, aside from first glance. They're all just a bunch of dust that, with magic, gain an unique form. We can tell all the monsters in UNDERTALE are monsters because they turn to dust when they die. (except for ghosts when they possess stuff but I'll talk about that later)
Flowey is never mentioned to be a monster, in fact, it's made very clear in the game that Flowey is neither human or monster. I don't know why you even felt the need to explain this considering it's very clearly explain in-game.
Boss Monsters are clearly a mix of Humanoid, Goat and *Lions*. You can tell because of the fact that Asgore has a mane, they all have _paws_ (which goats _do not_ have), and as you mentioned, the fangs.
Froggits can be differentiated from regular frogs by their eyes, the markings on their chests, the weird face things in between their legs, and of course, the fact that they're almost the size of a regular human child.
Sans and Papyrus ARE monsters, not just regular skeletons, otherwise they wouldn't turn to dust when they died.
Greater Dog can be considered a monster as he turns to dust when he dies. Dogtroid is NOT related to Alphys at all, you have no IDEA what you're talking about. The cut song was originally going to play if you beat the game fast enough, as you would see an image of the Annoying Dog with a bikini. This is a reference to the game Metroid, where if you beat the game fast enough, you see the game's protagonist Samus in a bikini. It's not related to Alphys or robots at all.
Yeah, Shyren has a face and hair. I doubt she'd be able to pass for a regular fish. Also she turns to dust when she dies thus she's a monster.
Woshua doesn't look like any "cleaning device" _I've_ ever seen. Honestly it's hard to tell what Woshua even is, really. If any monster is a completely original being, I'd have to say it's him.
Planes in UNDERTALE can't become monsters dude. Tsunderplane is kind of tricky, but my theory is that she's a ghost possessing a very small plane. Maybe a toy plane like you mentioned? Something like that.
The only beings in UNDERTALE whose monstruosity(or lack-there-of) is questionable are the 4th rock and the talking snowman.
Or maybe none of them as monsters. Humans just call them that to make them seem horrible and more evil than they obviously aren't. This would make sense story-wise, as the word "human" means something normal, and good, while "monstrous" means dirty, horrible, and, most of all, evil, while of course, the humans are the evil ones and monsters being the ones with no ill will. All of this because they are different, objects came to life and antropomorfic animals, thus now allowing humans to use and take advantage of them like with normal objects and animals. Maybe the whole soul-absorbing thing was just a pretext for plain ol' racism against all of monster-kind.

You know, something that always bothered me about the game's lore... is snails. Yeah, same snails that Toriel eats, same ones that Napstablook has a farm for. What I want to ask is, _Why in God's name are they able to talk??_ No really. Why? Are they some kind of third untalked about race? Are some lifeforms with sentience just deemed 'lesser' and eaten? They only fact that has shown is they aren't monsters. Otherwise they'd turn to dust after being killed for cooking... But then what about vegetoid? If you take a bite out of one it *does* indeed heal you. I really want someone to look into this.

To me, 'monster' is *not* about appearance. It's more about character.
One can assume Toriel thought Asgore a monster for harvesting the human souls as she left him. Can anyone doubt Megaflowey a monster in both appearance and character?
Chara no doubt does not appear monstrous, but what of her character?
l think y'all understand where I'm going with this... I have no doubt that many of the underground dwellers integrated with humanity easily (as shown in the credits) because their character was more like ideal humanilty than some humans l known
