You will love Horimiya for sure, even when you are not a romance anime type person because the rythm is so natural compared to other shows. I mean, lots of romance animes are a bit slow, a lot of episodes just to take each other's hand for example, or things like that. But Horimiya is a much more realistic approach of human romance, it's fluid. Directly on the first episode they kind of start confessing :D

I always interpreted that as character's having realizations or surges of emotions and at least acknowledging them to themselves. The colored 'shadow' of each person changes depending on the scene, which makes me believe the color has some association to what emotion they are feeling in that moment.

I read the manga years ago but from what I remember they did cut out a lot of scenes to compress it in one season so some parts may seem a bit rushed? Omg your comment abt how tooru will be in love with miyamura 😂😂 not exactly but he will be dreaming about a tiny cat miyamura which they only showed in the manga And the opening and ending songs are great too!! One of my faves.
If you guys are enjoying this series, another one you might wanna check out off-screen (since it's old and not as popular) is Kare Kano (eng: His and Her Circumstances). It is a very similar story of two students with hidden lives colliding, and it also has great music, humor, and style, etc.

I'm glad you enjoyed this episode. What I like about this episode the most is the wholesomeness of the (forming) friendships. Toru: best boy - in every other romance anime this situation would be handled kind of toxic. It's so refreshing to see "support characters" not being jerks. Don't know if Anna, as a romance anime fan, saw Orange? This is another anime with similar good behavior (here best boy: Suwa). Also (off topic): Annas top in this one is just too cute - I love it. (Sorry for wrong grammar etc. - non native English speaker here.)
2 months late and after you finish this, read the manga. Cloverworks speedrun through this especially when Miyamura jumped on the fence and was seen by Hori's friend. She actually developed a crush on that I guess version of Miyamura and she saw them shopping. Actually the cut a LOT! I guess it's filler for them but all of it is gold.
