  • The AEON Laser Smart Rotary is the perfect tool for engraving any cylinder object. Here, I hope to show you how I get it set up and running both through Lightburn Software and my machine. Once you get the hang of it, it will be smooth lasering!
Also check out AEONs new release of the MULTI-roller, where you can now engrave multiple pieces at one time, too!

350 speed, 17 max pwr, 365 lpi and NO air on :) Thats a whole other language in itself isnt it?!

I just got my Mira 9 setup today. I feel overwhelmed, learning it. 😮 I liked your video. Where the different setting engraving on the back of the cup to see which would look the best for your design? Then you would set the design for that setting?

Oh no! Don't be overwhlemed. You are braver than I- It took me months to try a rotary! Great job! YES, I usually order one additional "scrap cup" when it is a new item I am trying. Then I can play with settings to see the right one, then adjust my file accordingly!

Wow, I'm glad my Epilog Zing rotary tool has adjust height wheels, having to wedge wood under a rotary tool doesn't look like a good idea.

I mean, I never had any issues so I thought it was a great idea! It came FREE with my machine, otherwise I wouldn't have one or the ability to do any of this, So I am very grateful for that. There are upgrades, but I don't want them and really don't enjoy doing cups. I would think that for anyone who does would upgrade at least to a PiBurn.

@@scriptandgrain If it was free then I guess I wouldn't complain, its decent for being free. I paid $1,100 for the rotary device for my Epilog Zing laser. It's a great rotary device, with great features, and made extremely well, but I always felt like it was way overpriced. The wheels adjust, there's a built-in hold down for smaller/lighter objects, and has automatic line up and height, but still OVERPRICED.

@@eckcreations2200 oh wow!! That is pricey. Have you looked into piburn at all? Is it compatible? I guess I wouldn’t if I made the investment that you did. Sounds really nice!

Love the video since you went through basically all he steps. One thing I didn't see you address. In the instructions it says reduce the speed to 20. I gather you did that. There were no other adjustments? I also have a 9. I engraved 1 cup fine and then messed up another so I'm still getting the hang of it.Thanks. but

Hey there! I typically use my same speed, but since I roughly showed the "Painters tape" version, you're right, I don't think I covered that. With the painters tape on, I reduce the power but not speed. Without it, my settings were 400 speed/30 power. 20 speed would be REALLY slow! Sometimes I drop it to 350 when I have smaller text involved, but I don't think I went lower than that before.

@@scriptandgrain Understand, I am talking about the speed on the laser itself, Looking at the instructions from Mira, it says to press the speed button on the laser and set it to 20. (the only thing seem to do is make the gantry go VERY slow. But in LB my speed is about 350-400

@@lizkingdesigns Oh wow! I checked their PDF file a few times and didn't see that step at all. I DID print a hard copy a year and a half ago, so I wonder if they updated it since then? I think mine is set to 30. Does it change when you "Write" your rotary settings?

That looks like a quality rotary. Bummer you have to shim it up and you cannot just adjust it. Good tutorial, though!

Yea I agree... but at the same time - for me at least - cups and tumblers aren't my thing so it works. I know a lot of people get it free with the machine, so maybe it'll help other people like me who just needs to get it done haha

Not too smart if it does not have its own risers. :)

Maybe! But since it came with the laser - as a beginner at the time - I wouldn't have known any different so I was more hoping this would help people in my situation. Sounds like you do!
