sokka was such a wasted character in LoK. Shame they did not explore him more.
Honestly most all the original gang was wasted even the ones that actually appeared in korra
They highlighted all of the elders/legends in ATLA (Iroh, Bumi, paku, etc.). But they completely shitted on the new elders in LOK (Katara, Toph, Zuko, etc.). They made them seem weak af.
He would have been very helpful in season 2
@@TsunaSenju_. They are older then the elders in last air bender, Katara is almost in her 90’s, Toph follows along and Zuko is actually in his 90s, there’s no way to compare after a big age gap.

One of the things I wished that Legend of Korra did was give us some more flashback footage of Sokka, felt weird only seeing him in one scene😔
They could have shown him during the battle with the red lotus

That’s actually a huge relief. Sokka was an amazing tactician in ATLA, and by the time he’s Middle aged he’d probably be at Erwin Smith levels of intelligence and experience.
This comic doesn’t do his character justice. The story of his death would be a thousand times more interesting than just some waterbender one-shotting him before he can do anything useful.
I think that they wrote Sokka beautifully. This comic gives him a fitting death.
No they didn't have to do sokka like that he could have been real important in the legend of korra even tho she's gonna fine that who her uncle really anyway but still come on
I think the fact that there wasn’t an ark in LOK that explored and exposed Sokka’s death was a wasted opportunity. I think Korra’s mistrust of her uncle would have made more sense.

The comic is quite well written on how Sokka's life after Avatar, though it's sad that Suki isn't his wife, but I could imagine he'll permanently retire to Kyoshi Island with his wife and die there with her. Kids wise, I kind of wish they explored that concept but I fear it only make storywriting more difficult.
It wouldn't be impossible for him to move back after Tsuki's death.
I feell like after being a father figure to katara he's problay done with kids besides he and suki seem more like the cool aunt slash uncle than parents

He even mentioned this when he was talking to toph the time when toph and katara had disagreement. I am just rephrasing this because it has been soo many years that I have not seen the show but when sokka recalls his mother’s face he thinks of katara.

It would be a fitting death for Soka. I wouldnt be mad if it would be true, but i dont really see Soka going out all on his own to enemy territorium. He is a man of plans. He knows what can go wrong and not even telling anyone about his suspisions? Even if he would go alone, he would warn someone so if he dies without returning and without prove, someone else would be able to protect Kora. After Aangs death, his job is to protect Korra. He knows Aang better than anyone (except Katara ofcourse). He knows the dangers. He would try and protect her, but not alone. He would ask someone to go with him. In this case, it would be fitting to take Katara to fight an other waterbander. Or at least he would talk to Korra her dad, Katara, Suki, Toph or Zuko about his thoughts.

An easy way to get around this was to have a note he laid in his home in case he didnt return and have Unaloc destroy it or throw it away or something if he didnt want to alert anyone and have information slip out a "Just in case" plan would have made sense

This is basically what Bloodbending can do but obviously not to be shown on a kids show on Nickelodeon. Despite not being a bloodbender, it not just stops the heart, but imagine blood deprivation and throws out from the mouth as well, now that will be very very sinister that could potentially even kill the Avatar.
And that sokka knew who this man was before we did korra's unlce has been planning this for years and the only person that know about it was sokka

Odds are Zaheer probably revered the air nomads and studied their culture. Remember the Red Lotus Members, or at the very least Zaheer, used to be in the White Lotus. So there's a chance that Zaheer asked Aang to teach him about Air Nomad traditions and airbending skills. Just because someone isn't an airbender doesn't mean that the skills would be useless since all bending is based on some type of martial arts

This would be a great idea except the scene where Zahir was practicing his air bending and I don’t think Sokka would’ve went their alone or without leaving a note. He’s smarter than that. I’m for Zahir and Unalok being friends initially but diverged in their terrorism plans.
plus the characters seem far too young as Aang died old, the rest of the gaang should still be much older then portrayed, especially since Sokka was older then Aang

I don't think Sokka would've died by Unalaq's hand, but instead, Sokka would have Unalaq placed under arrest and when Katara finds out what her brother had done, she would rely on his protection even more because they are a family and Bumi along with his younger brother Tenzin would learn from Sokka about planning and strategy. It would make a better end if Sokka had survived this encounter with Unalaq, because Sokka is a guy that can plan out and come up with ideas especially if he got along with the earth bender Bolin because I can see them as both friends and always joking around.

Great video, but i do have to say that the ‘gaang’ members (sokka, zuko and katara) are depicted too young here, we know that during the legend of korra they are/would be around 85-90 years old meaning that they were 70-75 years old when korra was a toddler, these drawings however make them look around 50 ish.

I have mixed feelings about this. First, I love how badass Sokka is here. He's not just the fun loving person. He's a true warrior. But also smart. He listens to his gut and he realizes what no one else does : that something isn't right here. That Unalaq wasn't right. He goes in Ninja style into Unalaq's home. If it had been anyone else other than Unalaq, he probably would have succeeded. But I am also heart broken. Precisely because this was our fun loving friend. Who always managed to put a smile on our faces. And he died in such a horrible way. And in such a sad and tragic way too. And the worst part is, that nobody knows he was Murdered. That breaks my heart. He died and true and blue hero.

Sokka was a great strategist and the absolute EMBODIMENT of a warrior! Azula is ranked higher IMO in game-planning but Sokkas INTANGIBILITY in the "moment" is otherworldly! And to watch him and "Boomy" grow on "all angles" through the series/novels and even fanfiction projection is amazing!

The fact that a character like Sokka got such a disappointing death is honestly sad. He was a genuine brother, friend, and all around badass. He deserved to go better than that

I like the idea that this sets up but I don't agree with it because maybe it's a cliche, but I want Sokka to go out fighting or protecting somebody in a self-sacrificing.
Or just a badass death. For example sacrificing himself to defeat the enemy permanently.

Cool~ At first, I did have one actual issue with having the same scroll from Wan Shi Tong's Library and the one that Sokka finds in Unalaq's Red Lotus hideout because it suggests that you can bring physical objects to and from the Spirit World without passing through the portal. But then again, humans/physical bodies have gotten spirited away before throughout the 10,000 years of closed portals. There are definitely thinner boundaries between the Physical and the Spirit World just like the Swamp and the Physical Library itself, even during the solstices so I guess it's possible. I do also find it pretty difficult to believe that the Red Lotus would leave any traces of their activities. The White Lotus never did-- not until after the 100-year war anyway. (also besides the known fact they only speak to each other cryptically or perhaps having a meeting in the Spirit World like Zaheer did in LoK3)

The main problem I have is that korra was just a little kid but Zaheer did not have air bending before harmonic convergence so none of this comic really works when it comes to the red lotus.

This is was one of the reasons why I couldn’t bring myself to love LoK like I loved TLA. They didn’t give us enough time to enjoy the original cast (excluding Toph). It especially did not do Sokka any justice as he’s already dead by the start of the series. We don’t know what happened to him and Suki. This series just used most of the original team as side characters or flashbacks for one or two episodes. Again Toph is an exception given she’s the matriarch of Beifong family and is forced to step in.
In the context of the story of LoK, they are side characters. The main team is no longer the main focus of the story.

The only thing that doesn’t really make sense is that they found the library which was meant to be entirely buried, not just embedded into the sand but entirely filled with sand, so it doesn’t make sense that they were able to not only find but access any of the inside, but otherwise I do like this take on the story as sad as it is
Certainly even his spirit would have somehow get a message out that he was killed and despite the fact he was not a believer of bending til Aang shows up and goes with him and Katara to save the world from the Fire Nation. Even though he truly didn't understand it. I wish that there should have been a additional comic book to reveal the cause of his death as murder and went after the real criminal.

I love Rise of Kyoshi in Avatar Generations. I’m still trying to ascend Kyoshi above level 40. Not an easy process right now especially because I was too slow to be able to unlock Yun, Rangi and Avatar Kyoshi ( iconic look, not the servant look).
I think this comic was very well illustrated, and very well written, but it also missed a lot of opportunities. Since it ends up in the Northern Water Tribe, it could have used the opportunity to explore Sokka telling Princess Yue about the intervening years she missed, about how the war ended, about how Team Avatar built a new nation, about Sokka's life with Suki and how he became chieftain of the south. It could alao have touched on any last thoughts he had for Katara, Suki and his friends.

I know this is my opinion - but the creators of avatar and the legend of Korra have a lot of good material for every character in both series towards the end of the lives of the original team avatar and the beginning stages of the legend of Korra, because they talk about a lot of struggles and dangers in the newer series that sound very fascinating, but we only hear a fraction of what happened. And I believe this way the viewers could get more time with the old team and their ventures as it became parents and adulthood, while introducing the new characters as children foreshadow mean the next stage in the avatar cycle

A character that was like a goof but comedic at the beginning in avatar Aang, but in the pass of the years he become into a mature man, and his death, tragic,makes him appear like a serious matter, even if it is indeed a tragic way to die, I thing it show us the danger this enemy was, and a new way to see the serie

I'm a big fan of the whole ALTA and Korra world and I have watched both series a couple times (there really good) BUT I want more so I have been thinking to read all the comics from before Aang up to after Korra, but is can't find a proper list of in which order i should read them, could you help me with this, i want to read like the WHOLE story of Aang's life before/during and after the series and the same with Korra. Sad to see Sokka go out like this and honestly really don't buy that he wouldn't at least tell Katara about his suspicions of Unaloq. Also how did Sokka get to the North Pole and then Unaloq get him back to the South Pole so quickly? I mean that trip would take at least a couple weeks and most likely longer if he was trying to hide a body.
Yeah, didn't the gaang say that it would take weeks to get to whale tail island by boat? And that was just from Ba Sing Se, and it wasn't even to the south pole itself. It would probably take two or three times that time from the North Pole.
