My Papa taught me everything when I was a teenager, especially how to clean my private parts. He showed me himself, father to son. He even had discussions with me on sex, man to man. Papa in sabhi baaton ko natural maante the aur kaha karte thi ki Bhagwan Ji ne hi aisa sab banaya hai. And this was inspite of the fact that we belong to the middle class. I'm sorry but if whatever you said is your idea of shame or embarrassment, I don't subscribe to that. After all, if one is a boy, what kind of shame or screen would he have from his own father, whose very seed he has sprung from? There should be no screens/concealment within a father-son relationship. All boys should be very open and candid with their fathers and vice versa.
