Dean Forest Railway - Diesel gala - 14/09/2024

The weekend of the 14th & 15th of September saw the Dean Forest Railway hold their annual diesel gala, and managed a very good event despite the amount of problems that emerged over the last few days. Starting with class 25 no. 25 262 developing an electrical issue on Wednesday, making it not able to attend. Second being class 09 no. 09 106 being unable to run after a preparation inspection. And class 37 no. 37 510 Orion having mechanical issues on arrival to Lydney, which were fortunately able to be rectified by midday. This left the gala roster with resident class 08 no. 08 769 working the 2 coach local passenger train, and guests class 73 E6003 Sir Herbert Walker and class 37s 37 884 Cepheus and 37 510 Orion (after its repairs) working the longer passenger train, with the demonstration tanker train having to be cut from the timetable.
