- I’ve got about a week’s worth of washing to do and I can do it quickly here in the wringer washer. When I started the machine, I got a taste for some peanut butter cookies and I figured, with the oven right there, I might as well whip up a batch.
Turns out, I was actually in over my head a little bit because the machine washes so fast, there hardly is any time to do anything else.

Old fashioned washers are way better then the new junk that’s out
I was just thinking last week how I want to FIND AND BUY an old wringer machine. I bought a washer in 1982 when my son was born and it lasted 20 years. Since then I’ve had to buy FIVE and they don’t even clean the clothes!!
old but not this old 😂
Why does anyone want to do it the old fashioned way
I was scrolling on RUclips and came across your video…. I will say I put my phone down and just listened to talk….
I felt like I was back in time with my family when we would all sit around talk. You have a really nice voice for telling stories. I’m glad your cookies came out.
I was born in 1952 and my mother had a wringer washer. It was on wheels so it could be moved over to the sink when in use. The wringers weren't enclosed as shown here, and my mother used a large wooden spoon to lift up the washed clothes and feed them into the wringer.
One day the phone rang while she was starting to wring the clothes and she left the room. I decided to help and managed to lift up some sopping wet items and feed them in...but the spoon got caught and started through and I didn't let go so my arm went in up to the elbow. My screaming brought my mom in at that point. One of my stronger childhood memories.
I remember my grandmother having BOTH of these appliances. I used to beg her to let me put the clothes through the ringer. I didn't always get to do it, but when I did I thought I was very important. 😊 Gosh, that was a long time ago!
I thought that was Morgan freemans voice or Barry white 😊 those cookies 🍪 look yummy 😋
3 to 5 minutes is about right for these Maytag wringer washers, may have been a similar wash time recommended for the Maytag automatic washers in the early 60’s since they had a similar agitator to the wringer washers but with the lint filter in the agitator. Drying times were 15 minutes for small loads, 25 to 35 minutes for medium loads, 35 to 45 minutes for large loads but that was ‘damp dry’ for ironing. The thinking may have been if you partially dried things, could iron things to keep things moving along.
I miss my wringer washer so much!!! I'm homeless right now and wash my clothes out by hand in rain water. It works. The Florida sun shine dries them fast. Now if you will excuse me I have some P.B. cookies to bake in my brick oven my son made me. I loved your video. 😊
What a lovely presentation ! Makes me want to call over and spend time with you chewing the fat. As it is, I'm on a different continent so that'll never happen ! Anyway, keep making these clips. They're very relaxing and enjoyable.
Never say never. Lol
Thanks for the compliment! 💯
When we were growing up we had one, it worked fantastic
Your washer is so cool!!!
Loved my old maytag
I think I want to eat the cookies. Here's a thought: You could buy a timer that the washer plugs into, so that it only stays on as long as you want.
Ha! Yeah man, I got a timer for the Kenmore wringer washer after that incident. It worked great too. lol
Love it!
Im live the same drugsl life
That's Awesome!! I have a wringer washer like yours, mine might be a little older because it has a red quick release bar and yours is blue. It's in storage because I live in an apartment and it's kind of loud. I need to take it apart again and pack it with bearing grease. I wish that I owned my own house, then I would start using it again.
I live in an apartment too. I’ve always had a wringer washer in my apartment. I changed the belt on this one and that made a big difference in the sound. The blue push to release bar is brand new. I had to almost rebuild the wringers. I did that last year.
