    Being patient is fine, but there's a difference with Moyes and other managers who did get a chance, for example Rodgers last season for Liverpool. At no point this season has Moyes given an indication of hope. No football philosophy to believe in and no moments or big matches that stood out in quality and ability. Maybe it's wrong to fire a manager after only one season, but there are special instances when it's clear it isn't working, and prolonging his tenure just for the sake of the club's culture is a huge mistake.

    • @MrScorpioKid10
      @MrScorpioKid10 10 лет назад +6

      Spot on mate. His body language has been defeated, and quite frankly pathetic all season. How can you expect players to play with passion if their manager can't motivate them after a tough season? A manager is supposed to be the leader of men, the motivator. At no point has Moyes shown a sign of that. His press conferences have shown how deluded and incapable he is to do this job, and that he's out of his death.
      Then let's not forget tactics. So so poor all year round. He's literally inept at employing any good tactics. Players have looked lost all season too.
      Like you and Carragher said, if team played well and lost, showed glimpses of better times to come, then ok give the gaffer some time. But when its been this poor, gotta sack the manager.
      Waiting for Klopp. He's the kind of manager we need now. Man manager, enthusiastic, smiling, energy, passion. Everyone wants to play for him. I feel like hugging him every time I see him on tv hahaha
      Time for the good times to return, as soon as Moyes is cut loose, along with his backroom staff

    • @MrScorpioKid10
      @MrScorpioKid10 10 лет назад

      He can't bring the best out of the players, that's another huge thing that goes hand in hand with the motivation point

    • @vinR14
      @vinR14 10 лет назад +1

      Maybe he just wants to see who has the hunger to play for the club even when the manager doesn't say anything. Even if doesn't say anything, the players should know what is expected of them and not play like they know nothing. With MU suffering this season, you'll know who wants to play for the club, Kagawa has been poor when he's played. He always does well when he play on the ledft for Japan but plays like he don't care bout anything for MU. It's not about what the manager says, there should be leader within the group of players that can rally the team up even when the manager doesn't say anything.

    • @MrScorpioKid10
      @MrScorpioKid10 10 лет назад +2

      Rash Vin Yeah that could happen a few times, fine, but it's happened throughout the season. That is when you stop looking at the players and look at the manager. Not saying players have been perfect but the manager is the manager of the club, if he can't manage effectively he needs to go. Players will definitely leave this summer, and they should. A lot of them have shown they're not cut out for it but again also down to whole management. Leader of the group doesn't set up the team or give them tactics on how to play, and when Moyes lets Vidic, the leader of our team leave what is he doing to say? Nothing. I'm sure some players have but Moyes has dug himself in a hole too deep to escape. Time to leave, and a fresh start for everyone

    • @vinR14
      @vinR14 10 лет назад

      Sandipan Chowdhury Regarding Vidic, they gave him a 1 year extension which he didn't want. He wanted 2, even if I was the manager, I would only give him 1 year extension. That's why I saying, judge Moyes based on th 1st half of next season when he has half of the players he wants at United. You have to admit, they have been rubbish even for the experienced players. The the underperfoming players leave, the others will know that their place are also in jeopardy, and they have to play at their best. United this season has been to me better defensively than last season. They are more compact. If you want to attack, the defence must be solid.

      Phillip Neville will get a job, doens't matter if it's at MU or somewhere else, he will get a job. Gary Neville has supported MU for 30 years and will always suppor them no matter what happens. Carragger does the same about Liverpool. You can watch his comments on Liverpools difficulties and problems of the last 2 season and he always backs them.

    I enjoy both Carragher & Neville.
    That said, the Glazer family who own ManU have floated Manu stock on the NYSE, and my feeling is that they are in a mode of 'pump & dump' right now. Meaning, they will try to pump up Manchester's stock as high as possible and then sell. They couldn't care less about 'tradition': ManU is a 'brand name' like Home Depot, and the goal is to pull as much money as possible out of the club.
    Perhaps I'm wrong, but I see very hard times ahead for Manchester United, unless the Glazers are willing to commit and spend money.
    I don't see it.

    • @eEEEE-o6y
      @eEEEE-o6y 10 лет назад +2

      You could well be right, but that couyld work out better for United. There are plenty of people in the world with enough cash to buy United and wipe off the debt, and then have them compete with City and Chelsea in the transfer market. Having said that, United's share price went down 10% when Fergie retired, so arguably, they would have sold sooner?

    • @TheSurgexX
      @TheSurgexX 10 лет назад

      The thing is though... the Glazers won't spend money on the club. They syphon out most of the money to close up the huge debt they have themselves in. So the so called 200 million transfer kitty we are supposedly getting in the summer is completely the clubs money. The Glazer's know nothing about football and won't spend a cent on the club as they don't care about the club unless it's stock price is fluctuating.

    • @frankdialogue
      @frankdialogue 10 лет назад

      As with most big business deals, the Glazers financed the purchase of ManU, and now all that debt is on the club's books. As someone on an ESPN blog noted, they pay down the debt, supposedly about $60 million a year, from Manchester's revenue streams, actually leaving the club in a tight spot about how much 'liquid' money is available. Only the bankers & the Glazers know.. Ryan Giggs sure doesn't!

    as a liverpool fan im so happy at what is happening at united they deserve it, but come on gary how can you say united shouldnt sack moyes he's clueless and imagine the damage he'll do if he's given 200mill next season i think united will probably end up fighting relegation.

    • @vinR14
      @vinR14 10 лет назад +24

      With 200million there will probably be some big name signings and a push for the title. I can only see it damaging Liverpool title hopes and nothing more. Liverpool fans shouldn't be talking about an under-performing club seeing as they have under-performed for 25 years. Humility will do a lot of good when your club come crashing down again.

      Rash Vin you only see it hurting liverpool how so we have champions league and potentially champions of england united are 7th and on top of that because moyes is clueless he gave that fat OAP a 300k a week contract you think if any players like reus or kroos were to come in they'd accept anything less than 250k as they are better players than rooney so you have 200 mill to spend on about 8 or 9 players plus there wages of 200 to 250k a week minimum and you have no champions league to offer i think youll find liverpool next season will be in a better position.

    I completely agree! Moyes needs more time, Ferguson left Moyes with the worse United squad in recent years. Yes, they have won it last year but a big reason for that was Robin van Persie, Alex had to get the best striker in the league to win it.

  • @Wyzzkyd
    @Wyzzkyd 10 лет назад +1

    What Carra said; I think the club has had a lot of patience in comparison to most other big clubs. Moyes just hasn't inspired them enough to believe in him with £200m. Even putting results aside their performances have been abysmal and he has looked out of his depth way more times than he got things right.

  • @RaymunJai

    Moyes just isn't cut for the job man...Chelsea has a shit a team, no strikers but with Mourinho managing he can still bring the best out of the players. Moyes just doesn't have that factor of being a top manager.

      After buying 10 midfielder in a season and having a total of 24 midfielders in the club, he's bound to get more goals from their midfield and also a certain Hazard that SAF chose not to sign because he was too expensive for a young kid.

    As a United supporter, I completely agree with Jamie Carragher. There is only so much a club can take in one season. Given we were probably never going to win the Premier League, but how did we fall out of the champions league and Europa league next year?! Every time I look into United player's eyes, I don't see the confidence they had with Sir Alex Ferguson. It's almost as if they don't know if Moyes has a plan or not. And it's shown in their performance this season. With plenty of players being linked away from the club, (chicharto, rvp, welbeck, evra, etc.) the club is in crisis control mode. They have to reassure supporters and players that they have things under control, when clearly they don't as Moyes pretty much took us off the champions league. This is hurting the club both in confidence and financially.

  • @surindersingh724
    @surindersingh724 10 лет назад +7

    As a Man Utd season ticket holder, it's not often that I agree with a Scouser over a Mancunian, but Carragher is spot on and Gaz Nev is way off the mark. It's all good giving a manager time as long as said manager shows even a semblance of taking the team in the right direction. Moyes hasn't showed that at all. Also funny that Gaz mentioned Sexton, Atkinson and Fergie but not Wilf McGuiness.
    David Moyes' time is up.

"Not Arrogant Just Better" is what we used to say and now its "Just Arrogant, Not Better"...our arrogance and this massive ego to do things unlike everyone else is what has cost us this season. We need to learn to adapt and evolve with the world, whether we like it or not. Times HAVE changed...I agree that when managers are doing well sacking them is just utter nonsense (read Chelsea and Real Madrid) but Moyes has not shown a SINGLE positive thing to convince me. I would really have liked him to succeed but he just isn't the right man.

    I agree with the United legend 100%. Look at what we have done at Chelsea, a manager every year on average, although Mourinho won't be leaving us again. But this is bad. You give a manager 6 years and sack him after 9 months, not even a full season done. Of course, he has been poor, but Sir Alex Ferguson was given time. I also agree with the Liverpool legend too.

  • @aliatahoo5282

    i think moyes should be given more time. the problem is, its very difficult to defend him. we all know its a transitional period, and the club will have alot of difficulties. but not to this extent. the man has no tactics at all. not one match has moyes proved that his tactics actually work very well. its very hard to give him more time. the blame isn't all on him though, the players aren't good enough and serious changes need to happen. he needs to be given this summer transfer window and the next january transfer window to do adjustments and change the squad. there needs to be alot of clearing out and buying new players. moyes hasn't given himself any reason to be defended. looking at other clubs, for example liverpool last season. it was brendan rodger's first season and his start was bad as well. but we all saw a completely new liverpool after the january transfer window, because he got the players he needed. he developed the players he had like henderson, sterling, suarez, and made them major players. in moyes's situation, he has done nothing other than getting mata. the other players around him like fellaini, cleverly, evra, rafael, are not good enough anymore. he should of got more players. he needs to do something this summer, or he will definately lose his job.

    Why not keep him until the end of the season??? We have nothing else to lose now. Kicking him out like that is just humiliating and has no meaning to it.
    The last game was played pretty bad by the team. The only fault Moyes should be blamed of is not letting janujaz play along with Kagawa and Mata. Even Kagawa and Mata werent playing good.
    Man U team is pretty shitty right now. The goalie sucks and the defenders suck. The defenders really work very hard but they are not organized properly. The wings suck as they can't cross shit. The attackers play more defense and mid roles, but they are not creative enough to play that position.
    Janujaz mata and Kagawa in the mid....Rooney and Persie in the attack....we would have gotten better results in most matches....There 3 needs to be in the middle against a strong team...

      I agree that United haven't been at their best this season, everyone knows that, but De Gea has probably been our best performer the whole season alongside Rooney and Januzaj or Phil Jones. I wouldn't trade De Gea for any goalkeeper in the world, he is very young and absolute class.
      Moyes, as the manager should have taken full responsibility when we lost a game, but instead, he'd always make excuses when we lost saying "he's planning for the future." He was never fit for the job. His negative approach to every game, even at home, was atrocious for a man leading one of the biggest clubs in the world.

      I agree, it would've been less embarrassing to let him go in the summer, but there is a financial (surprise, surprise) reason for the decision. The game against Everton was pivotal because it was united's last mathematical hope of making the top 4. Moyes' contract decreased in value exponentially when he missed out on the Champion's League, so then it was the Glazer's turn to feel like they had nothing (money-wise) to lose by sacking him. The irony is cruel for Moyes but good for business, poor bloke deserved better.

And 3 season later taking them into UCL qualification, and has taken then to Europa League a few times on a tiny budget of not more than 10 million a season. Martinez will struggle with Everton next season due to their small squad and Lukaku leaving them.

    He wasn't the right man but looking at some of the past videos and articles, some fans really let us down during his tenure. The sheer abuse and weekly attacks the man got went over the top in some cases. He got support too but a lot of people ended up looking like inpatient, spoilt kids throwing the pram out after one bad season. The results weren't good enough and i understand people have passion and pride for their club, i just think at times there was a lack of class and calm heads about.

    It's a lovely set of ideals, Gary, but that's just decorative in this case. I remember seeing the FIRST pre-season friendly against Thai XI in which we lost 1-0 playing empty, clueless football, Sunday against Everton it felt like a deja vu of that, time will only determine how long the wrecking of the club will last. He dug his own grave refusing to take on Sir Alex's coaching staff and saying he would do things his own way with his own people even though they were people who knew nothing about the players or the club. And him appointing Phil Neville and Giggs as a publicity stunt was insulting to them and to us.
    I never liked him as a manager but I always was optimistic, even after pre-season, even after the bad start, I had hope. But after January, I had no hope. And all that is left is a constant promise that it'll get bette with no indications of how, it's all speculation because it's late April with 3 games left to go and Moyes hasn't figured out who his starting eleven are or how we're going to play, and he has no business spending money when he can't even get the players on the team to perform. It's delusional to say he'll do better with time.
    There's simply no hope with Moyes because there's NOTHING you can point at and say "Well, at least..." Nope, none of that. To want to be different just for the sake of it is pretentious bullshit. Gary. Moyes would've been sacked in mid Janury at most clubs and would've been sacked after Olympiacos at ANY other club. He got an entire season to do something and did nothing.

The Fulham game at home stands out it was a game we totally dominated and there was just no back up plan playing crosses for 90 minutes.

    If Manchester United had appointed Jose Mourinho instead of David Moyes, I honestly believe they wouldn't be in the position they are in now. Saying "oh it was expected" after Ferguson left seems like an excuse to me. Man Utd won the league last season, and they added Fellaini and Mata. Okay they don't have a good of a squad as Chelsea or Man City, but Roberto Martinez has done a way better job with even less resources and less depth in his squad, and so has Brendan Rodgers, who's been in the job for longer, yes I know, but Liverpool were not the current champions when he took over. David Moyes has taken over a team that won the PL last year, so you can't blame the quality of the players. It's about getting the best out of players and having a playing philosophy whilst also being tactically adaptable. I honestly believe this would've never happened had Mourinho been appointed.

    Did Moyes give Zaha a chance and believe in his abilities? Give Januzaj full backing without feeling dependent on a kid? Anderson's quick sending away, who is tactically better than most of our central mids and better kept in subs? NO! Why does he deserve time himself if he never gives "incompetent" people chances to prove themselves? He operates by these rules, if you don't give something great to the team, then you should be left out...and clearly Moyes is amongst the people who are showing poor performance, the league this season was fairly easy to win, look at how terrible the results were for united but still most times we were 3 wins away from catching the top teams, and he'd mess that chance up all the time, top 4 was amongst reach, he messes that chance too, i see a lot of chances and enough time to fight for his job at those times...just good managing and seeing the bigger picture could have saved his job.

    By Gary Neville's logic, any new manager cannot be held accountable for his first season at a new club. Meaning that the club can be in freefall but since it's his first season, he cannot be sacked. That is football suicide!
    I respect Gary Neville's opinion but I disagree with him. He's clinging to hope that Moyes will have a miracle season next year and Neville is not thinking about the future of the club.
    There is 99.99% certainty that United will have another poor season, by our standards, next year if Moyes is still there and with all this talk about major transfer changes needed, what happens when Moyes has another poor start to the season and the money that Moyes has spent cannot be given to the next manager?
    By then it is too late. No one would want the job anymore because the club wont have any more transfer money or CL football and the downfall of United is almost complete.
    There has not been any clear football style or any improvements from the start of the season until now and David Moyes has already spent 65m and even admitted that he was not prepared for the job to be this difficult.

      For Moyes to sign players, he needs the board's go ahead. He will only get that if they feel the player will help them improve. SAF had total control over transfer, and what he says will happen whether in buying or selling player. He didn't need the board decision, but Moyes needs their decision.

Moyes WOULD of got more time if he at least got the Champions into a champions league spot even at 4th place, even with all the awful performances and everything else that went wrong he would have been given at least another year if United had champions league football next season - but they don't and altogether it's been an absolute disaster of a season with the team progressively getting worse with each game, he just wasn't the right man from day one.
    He had more than enough time to at least show he was maybe the right man who deserved more time, but he showed the opposite.

    Transition Period
    This tops one of the biggest excuse Moyes has given stating that he needs time to develop his own squad and adjust to his "style" after replacing the enormous shoes of SAF. This is clearly ******** as you have managers such as Martinez, Pellegrini, Mourinho and maybe even Tata who instantly stamps their authority at their new clubs respectively. You don't see Everton, Barca or Man City slumping to 7th in the league just because a new manager have taken over a new club.
    What does he bring to the team?
    Attacking football? Passing style? High pressure?. Some believe Moyes needs to be given more time. Some even compared his tenure to Liverpool's Brendan Rodgers. Compare Liverpool's season now and last season. Impressive.
    However, you cant simply compare these 2 managers. At least Brendan Rodgers was known to make Swansea City play attractive passing football and his capability would definitely develop moving on to a bigger club like Liverpool. However what about Moyes' time at Everton?? Whats so special about Everton's playing style that made SAF chose him as his successor? Would a high cautious tactic used at Everton improve a squad like United?? I am sure it is pretty obvious now.
    Not his squad
    Moyes has stated that he inherited an aging squad and wants to make use of the transfer funds to buy "his players". Now come on!!! Many fans have also pointed out that this is almost the same squad that "own" the league last season.
    This season we have Rooney, Kagawa, De Gea, Mata, RVP and how could these players full of trophies and medals combined more than the teams above them currently fall behind to a squad(no disrespect) consisting of Lukaku, Barkley, Mccarthy,Barry or Kaboul, Adebayor, Erikson? Yes, i do understand that Man Utd players have under performed this season and the opposition players have shined(some) but isnt the manager responsible to motivate his players.
    Man utd were able to win the league with scapegoats such as Welbeck, Cleverly, Smalling, Young, Valencia etc when SAF was in charge.
    ***
    Therefore how I see Moyes handling the sqaud that he has now, god know what would have happened if he was given the 200million to spend.
    ~amr
