Top Gun: Maverick - Main Theme (Piano Version)
Piano Version by Patrik Pietschmann
It was only by chance that I found out what success "Top Gun: Maverick" is currently having at the box office. This led me to watch both the first film from 1986 and the new one. The flying scenes in "Top Gun: Maverick" are truly spectacular and I was blown away by the entire movie! The score by Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe is once again epic. I also like that the Main Theme by Harold Faltermeyer from the first film was reused and rearranged. My piano arrangement is based on the two tracks "Main Titles" and "Top Gun Anthem", both of them containing the Main Theme. While "Main Titles" is strongly based on the 1986 original, "Top Gun Anthem" is a reharmonized, more modern sounding version. In my piano version I combined both. I hope you like it!

Quick question at 2:36 is that the exact same as star wars for right hand?
@@marko9463 It does sound very similar but its not the same. If you go to the time 1:35 on Patrik's starwar theme vid, that is what you are thinking of.

@@marko9463 Yeah they are in the same key but the rhythm is different. But I thought of his starwars vid when I heard it too.
@@marko9463 You're right, the passage sounds similar to the one in my "Star Wars - Main Theme" arrangement. But it is still a bit different.

I'm completely in love with Top Gun: Maverick, but more importantly, its music!
I went to see the movie. I heard they respected the first one. I hoped, they did. When I heard the first few accords of the opening theme I almost started to cry. In the middle of the theme I knew everything would be all right.
Best 6 mins I've spent on YT in a while. Literally doing the job of 3, perhaps 4 ppl. Just in awe of these masterfully skilled artists we call pianist.
I was literally just thinking like: "Man I wish Patrik would do a Top Gun one."

Hans Zimmer - The true angel of music. Amazing piece.
Might I suggest watching the top gun theme music video from the first film. It shows Harold Faltermeyer, he is the writer of this iconic theme. Hans Zimmer added his own touches to the original theme, and in the opening credits, Harold gets his name on the credits for his work in the first movie.
There are some piano versions of it but to each and everyone of them was missing something but this OH MY GOD. This has everything I wanted, perfect and beautiful

This is epic! I just watched the new movie the other day and was completely blown away by it. I had heard it was good, but nonetheless, it was even better than I expected. Your arrangement of the themes sounds especially cinematic and manages to capture so many of the emotions from the film. Great work yet again!

The Main Titles has its own title name! It's called, "You've Been Called Back to Top Gun"! I didn't know that this song was composed by Hans Zimmer, Harold Faltermeyer and Lorne Balfe too! They are my favorite composers, I could know when I saw the detail of this song.
That literally sent chills running down my spine. Amazing.

Maybe you could do a major piano medley, in which you combine your most famous arrangements in a way, where they flow perfectly into each other. You don't even have to play the full length of every piece, but you could combine the most important motives. I think that'd be a great way to sum up your way here on RUclips!

OMG I'm glad you did this one. Waitet for you to do an arrangement since I saw the movie a few weeks ago and here it finally is. Honestly the best movie I ever had the pleasure to watch in cinema. Thanks for your comment and your question! It's always very different, depending on how difficult the arrangement is. This arrangement here tends to be one of my easier ones. It took me a total of 2 weeks to make the video, the other 2 weeks I was busy with other things. 😅
2 weeks?! It would take me, like, 4 weeks to make this (maybe another to figure out where to start 😅😅). Again…you never cease to amaze me

I absolutely love this. While on the subject of top gun, you should try “Danger Zone”. Not sure how it would sound on piano but I think it’s worth a shot.

Can we just talk about how simple the opening theme is? It instantly draws you in without any special trills, just repeated notes and basic step progressions. The Top Gun Anthem is amazing, and a prime example of 'work smarter, not harder.'

Yes!! Just watched the movie last week, and I absolutely loved it including the main theme. You did a spectacular job as always!
I always wondered about the beginning sound.... and then I remembered my childhood in the 80s. Every Saturday there was a blackbird flying above us in northern Germany. The ultra sonic boom and the engine sounds are comparable to that from a far distance. Awesome soundtrack indeed!
So used to hearing it on guitar, but the piano was ...just chills. Amazing work .

I think you will like the themes from "Les Misérables", beautiful musical. I am particularly fond of "The Confrontation"... it would sound so good even though it's harder to develop this "theme" as you use to do.
