Thanks Anne. I built a teardrop base and have been playing it for 3 years now, This exercise is right where I'm at. I also enjoy bowing an I've found it's a good way to keep the neighborhood cats away.
Hey Anne! This just showed up in my feed. Great exercise and great playing! Just wanted to throw you the suggestion to maybe lower your end pin a bit. It would take some getting used to I'm sure, but I think over the long term you'll be putting less strain on your shoulder and wrist in your left arm. Hope you're having a lovely holiday and Merry Christmas!
Hi Michael! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I continue to play with the height and angle of my bass. I do play with it a bit higher than many folks do, but with good reason and for I've found what works for me (also as part of a recommendation from my chiropractor). Thanks again and hope you and yours had a very happy holiday season!
@MichaelRushMusic For sure! And, you've probably found this out too, but as I change (my body and my playing style), so too does my approach, stance, and setup. Happy New Year and best to you and yours for 2025!
Nicely explained! Your fingering technique isn't Simandl, what is it? That bass seems pretty killer and has a nice tone in your hands. Not enough 5-string uprights around these days. Respect, Ms. Luna.
Thank you! Actually, from my classical training days and Simandl books, I think this fingering sure follow the Simandl recommendations with half steps between the index and middle fingers, as well as between the middle and pinky when in the lower positions, and a whole step between the index and pinky (and subbing the ring finger up the neck for the pinky). The 5-string is a beast! But worth it, I think ☺️ Thanks for the comment and taking time to check things out here!
Thanks, Anne!
You're welcome!
Excellent,well played
Thank you!
Nicely presented and clear! 🙏🙏🦋
Thank you!

Fun! The teardrop shape is so lovely. Bowing definitely elicits a response! 😸
Thank you for the tutorial, I will use it . Just what I need .
You're welcome! Glad you can use this-it's an exercise I return to again and again.
Enjoyed watching your video, think this is good place for me to start. I was struggling with the fingering , thank you,
Hope the fingering is making more sense as you try it!
Wonderful lesson.
Thanks!
Excellent! Someday you should talk about listening to your band members and reacting to them because you're GREAT at that.
Thanks! Great idea!
Good lesson! Thank you!
You're welcome!
this was one of the first I was shown. I still like it.
Nice! It's definitely effective!

@anneluna6612 cheers Anna! There's definitely no one size fits all and I'm glad you found something that works for you. All the best for 2025!

Anne, what size is that bass? It looks too high for you
This is a 7/8 size. I usually play a 3/4 size.
