AMAZING REVIEW. Thanks for helping me decide to get the Elgato!

I agree this is a great and sturdy arm but I doubt it will be able to hold a mirrorless with a decent lens. Yes it could bear the weight but the camera will still vibrate. I doubt there is a single all in one solution mic arm and if it were it would be too prohibitively expensive, overweight and large.

It holds the Panasonic Lumix S5 with 20-60mm lens just fine. That's a full-frame camera and a decent lens. You wouldn't want a heavy telescopic lens for a desk mounted camera anyway...unless you're like 30 ft away from your desk....and I'm not sure why you would be 30ft away from your desk? For talking head videos you want shorter lenses to get the camera close so you can operate it without walking across the room 👍

This white one looks amazing but please check out the LS26 by ulanzi that costs 35 USD. It is useful only for a mic but it is even higher quality and looks better. If you need a mic arm for a shure sm7b, rode podmic, procaster that is the only arm you will practically need. For a camera you can get a proper stand with an extendible 90 degree bar. One problem with many of these mic arms is they put too much weight on your desk which can cause the material to crack or twisted over time. So ideally you need a small mic arm that weighs less itself and still can hold the mic. There is no ideal mic arm in the world. I used the samson MBA28 and MBA38 both. They are perhaps the strongest mic arms ever. They can hold anything you put on them but they can also cause damage to your desk. There is no perfect mic arm but the ulanzi LS26 could be one with slight modification.

If that arm works for you thats great. It's less expensive for sure and looks pretty good. But its also about 10" shorter on extension, doesn't have the gas spring, and has a weight limit of 2.2lbs so it won't work for people with wide desks, or those who want to use some condensers with a shock mount, or something like the Procaster with Shock Mount which is 2.5lbs
I do have a camera stand with 90 degree bar. The problem is they are prone to vibration since there is no spring to absorb movements.
I also have a 1" thick desk top so I'm not worried about it twisting or cracking the wood. The desk is rated for 265lbs and weighs 130lbs and is an adjustable sit-stand desk. I also mount my 12+lbs monitors on arms and have for several years with no issues. But its something to look out for if youre using an arm with 1/2" or thinner desk tops.

@@BenoniStudio Yes its short but it can bear upto 3kg if you do not use the swivel mount. You get less room for hand movement because it is not very high. However the size and design is ideal for folding and tucking to the side.If you have a 2foot wide desk you can bring it from the back and beneath your monitor. It does not work on my 5.5x2.5 foot desk that way but for bigger desks you can mount it in the front. As for my desks they are 1.75 inches thick mdf, they are solid but I do not want to ruin the surface so I avoided monitor mounts. Any way there is no ideal thing and we have to stick with what works best for us.
