I saw Lukas Nelson at Outlaw twice in Scranton and once in Saratoga with Neil, his dad, and Promise of the Real, and he has probably the best live tone i have ever heard. Honest.
I saw him last night and I still can’t get over how good his tone is. He opened for another of my favorite guitarists but the sound just couldn’t come close.
I own a 1957 to 1961 Magnatone Trubadour with vibrato a 50 watt kick the 213 model will be worked on I paid 50.00 in 2013 its been in storage so its time to revive the beast
I heard about those Magnatone Twilighter amps through a Brent Mason demo video he did a few years ago. I've been wanting to buy one of those amps ever since. I play a Les Paul Junior too. When I heard Lukas Nelson tone on A Star Is Born first scene, I was blown away and felt even more urged so save up some money and get one !
I saw Lukas and POTR at the Boston Garden last night. I’ve seen a lot of shows and I’ve been playing guitar since 1984. I have never heard anyone sound better than Lukas did last night. It was incredible! Gotta trade my other stuff in and get a Magnatone!👍🏼

I like to combine old an new technologies. I like versatile palette of sounds. Everyone has different tastes and uses for gear. I try to find the best sound out of whatever I choose to play through. I find that when I play an amp that is single channel, I get it as clean as possible and use a tube overdrive pedal and a 2nd overdrive to get more sounds out of it. I get bored too easily with using a single amp. I always end up using more than one. I want a lively and active stereo sound while I am playing. I also don't like to have to spin knobs while playing. Maybe back down and go back up on the volume of the guitar. I don't have a huge collection of amps. I own a Marshall 9005 stereo tube amp that uses EL34 tubes. I have a Music Man HD150. (solid state preamp w/6L6 tubes. My latest amp is a Mesa Boogie Nomad 100 3 channels with EQ and Solo (6L6 tubes) Currently, I slave the Music Man HD150 with the Mesa Boogie Nomad 100 as the master. I run stereo with the left side of the stereo fx loop into the master fx loop and the right side straight into the Music Man HD150. I also have a hybrid stereo tube preamp and MosValve stereo amp (tubes in the preamp stage) with a stereo speaker simulator all in one Faux amp head. While I was putting that rig together, I discovered Magnatone amps. I use that Faux Amp head stereo rig, more for silent studio and rehearsal or loud sometimes. The dual stereo tube rig sounds better, but both rigs are useful and sound great. I have a few other small hybrid tube solid state amps and a small micro amp in a pedal. I am really liking the Stereo Twilighter amps. If I ever got one, I would have to have a stereo fx loop to integrate my stereo fx with the awesome Vibrato/Trem with the Stereo Twilighter amp. I am excited about these amps.
I recently got a Magnatone Varsity Reverb. This is one of the nicest, best sounding amps I’ve ever owned. So much character, and it sounds great at low volumes as well. Unfortunately, I came down with COVID shortly after receiving the amp, so I haven’t had much time to play with it. Looking forward in the coming weeks to jam!

Neil does play Magnatone in addition to his tweeds. And Neil's long time guitar/amp tech Larry Craig has been a big part of the new Magnatone amps. They are expensive, but they sound incredible!

Such great tone! Nothing beats a single pickup straight into a cranked up amp for me, too

Heard them for first time at winter NAMM and they sounded pretty darn good. Very pure sound

Nothing kills a pure tube circuit more than injecting a diode overdrive pedal. Slowly people are learning this.
